Fimbulvetr Presents Lightweight and Heavy Duty News at this Year’s Outdoor Retailer

Friday, January 19th, 2018

The Norwegian brand Fimbulvetr continues its revolutionary path to change the snowshoe category. At Outdoor Retailer in January 2018, the company is introducing 3 major upgrades to their product portfolio.

F01B5B6E-B497-4C4B-99AE-E714674AED23

1. New model TRAILR: Smaller size for mobility and pace
Fimbulvetr TRAILR has been designed and tested over the last 12 months, based on the same premium qualities as every Fimbulvetr snowshoe. The concept came to life after feedback from users in USA and Canada, requesting the unique Fimbulvetr experience on a smaller snowshoe. The result is the slimmest Fimbulvetr model ever, optimized for mobility and speed, on and off the tracks.

2. Launching the A-Series and X-Series
In 2018/19 all Fimbulvetr snowshoes will be available in two sets of technical specifications – the A- Series and the X-Series.
A-Series: Lightweight performance
The A-Series provides a full Fimbulvetr experience, focusing on lightness and flexibility. They come with a new crampon and heel-lifts design, in a super strong and innovative material; Grilamid®. At a lower selling price, the Fimbulvetr brand is now accessible to a wider crowd of outdoors people.
X-Series: Heavy duty impact
The X-series signifies the extreme version of each Fimbulvetr model. At a premium price, they are configured for the most progressive and aggressive use. The snowshoe is produced in a slightly stiffer compound, and includes AISI 316 stainless steel crampons and heel-lifts.

3. The brand new Hugin Binding. An ultimate upgrade for current snowshoes, and available on all new models.
The Hugin Binding is a fully redesigned version of the original Fimbulvetr binding, for ease of use and stability. Straps and buckles are swapped for an efficient lace and lock system. The lacing provides tight, even pressure and support around the foot, kept in place by an intuitive and roust locking mechanism.

World’s lightest two man tent

With a race weight of a mere 490 grams Lofoten is probably the lightest tent in the world – and with a pack size of only 11×22 cm it is definitely the smallest when packed! Tipping the scale for a fully functional two-layer tent the bar has once again been pushed for light weight enthusiasts.

For the modern trekker or adventurer the gear you bring along needs to be small, light – and fully functional. The new ultralight weight Lofoten tent from Nordisk meets all of those demands.

Lofoten is a complete two-layer tent with both durable and weather resistant flysheet and a breathable inner tent. The race weight is 490 grams but the complete weight including the bonus pack is 565 grams.

Arc’teryx Releases Advisory Notice for Both 20L and 30L Voltair Avalanche Airbags

Tuesday, December 5th, 2017

We just received this note from Arc’teryx.

Today, Arc’teryx is announcing an advisory notice for both 20L and 30L Voltair Avalanche Airbags.

Our quality control team has recently discovered an issue with our battery which affects its proper deployment at extremely cold temperatures due to an unanticipated change during battery production. This change impacts the proper deployment of the airbag when the battery is exposed to temperatures below -20°C (-4°F). Due to this change, we are revising the minimum operating temperature limit for Voltair Airbags from -30°C (-22°F) to -20°C (-4°F). No other parts of the Voltair Airbag have been affected by this change.

We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience. With the newly stated temperature limit of -20°C (-4°F), we are confident the airbag is still a great solution for your backcountry adventures.

You have two options:

Option 1 – Keep my pack.
If you wish to continue using your Voltair Airbag, understanding the revised minimum operating temperature of -20°C (-4°F), we request that you submit an online warranty form, sign a release form and receive instructions to relabel your pack. To compensate you, we will send you an arcteryx.com Gift Card for $250CAD ($200USD/22,240JPY) good for two years upon receipt.

Option 2 – Return my pack.
If you are not satis ed with the revised minimum operating temperature of -20°C (-4°F), Arc’teryx will offer you a full refund. To compensate you, we will send you an arcteryx.com Gift Card for $250CAD ($200USD/22,240JPY) good for two years upon receipt.

If you have any questions regarding this issue, please contact our customer service team at 1-866-458-2473.
