New from OTTE Gear is the HT Insulated Parka. It features five pockets to organize your equipment including two Napoleon pockets, two fleece-lined handwarmer pockets, and an internal pocket designed to keep your water bottle warm. The hood insulated and adjustable at the side and rear. It also has a stiffened brim. Insulated with 160 grams of PrimaLoft, the HT Parka is lightweight yet keeps you warm. I have used one over the recent cold snap and it works very well.
Available in MultiCam with Black trim, the HT Insulated parka will be on display at SHOT Show booth #7111.
Somehow this baby slipped below our RADAR but it is definitely worth taking a look at if you are fortunate enough to be issued the Harris AN/PRC-117G but are saddled with the issue bag. It is designed to be worn with the removable shoulder straps or attached directly to the back of armor or load bearing vest with the integrated PALS compatible attachment system. Additionally, the body features PALS webbing so that radio accessories can be attached to the bag.
The PRC-117G Assault Bag is available in Black, Coyote, Ranger Green, UCP, and MultiCam from Mayflower.
Military Morons has premiered an extensive review of the Crye Precision CAGE (Crye Assault GEar) Plate Carrier (CPC). Designed as a lightweight alternative to the full CAGE Armor Chassis, the new CPC consists of Front plate bag/carrier, Rear plate bag, left/right flank/torso, and left/right shoulder pieces. The plate bags are designed to accommodate the SAPI plate. Additionally, it is still a cut away system and there are zip-on/off panels for the rear of the carrier.
Additionally, the CPC incorporates Crye’s Proprietary Structural Kinetic Support System (StKSS) to transfer the load to the hips utilizing stays attached to the new unarmored low-profile belt.
The CPC (as well as a few other surprises) will be on display at Crye Precision’s booth at SHOW Show. Until then be sure to go to Military Morons and check it out. You can tell by the level of detail that he really put a lot into this.
The much anticipated PIG Plate Carrier has finally arrived, and SKD Tactical is currently taking pre-orders for the first production run due early spring 2010. Manufactured in the USA for Patrol Incident Gear by Eagle Industries, the PIG PC was conceived with input from law enforcement and military special operations personnel, that culminated in a design that is unlike any other plate carrier on the market today.
The PIG PC features an industry first, the adjustable plate stirrup that keeps the plate at the top of the carrier and centered, regardless of plate size (fits SAPI S-XL). Additionally, lowering the shoulder strap attachment point raises the plate placement on the upper thoracic cavity, an often overlooked achilles heel on most traditional plate carriers. They have also taken steps to answer the common complaint that carriers are uncomfortable by adding continuous padding on the rear carrier and shoulder straps. The rear padding will soon see a debut on a new Eagle pack design as well. Hybrid 500D Cordura and Nylon Pack Cloth construction reduces the weight to a minimum. Additionally, SKD has prepared an Ala Carte options system that allows users to order only the features they need.
SKD Tactical is offering a pre-order discount for a limited number of customers, on a first come first serve basis. For more information, visit www.skdtac.com.
The Arc’teryx Combat Jacket is now Berry Compliant. What’s more, it’s available in MultiCam. When introduced last year by Arc’teryx, the MultiCam variant was so popular it sold out in less than a week. Now, with Berry Compliance, restrictions on military purchases are a thing of the past.
So get out your Government Purchase Cards and be the best dressed guys on the FOB (and the most comfortable). Individual orders can be made through the LEAF website. Units can order through their preferred outfitter like Grey Group Training.
Our friends over at Defense Tech spoke with COL Cole, Program manager for Soldier Clothing and Individual Equipment at PEO-Soldier and he revealed the units who will be involved in testing of Crye’s MultiCam and the Army developed UCP-Delta as possible supplemental camouflage patterns.
The unit sporting UCP-Delta is the 3d Squadron of the 61st Cavalry of the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division and they have already received their test equipment. The 2d Battalion, 12th Infantry of the 2d Brigade Combat Team, 2d Infantry Division will soon be receiving their complement of MultiCam. Both batÂtalÂions currently operÂate in Afghanistan’s eastÂern Kunar province. Each Soldier involved in testing will receive four uniforms and associated individual equipment in the respective test pattern in addition to a standard RFI issue.
