NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits Named Nation’s Fastest-Growing Association Show

Friday, August 24th, 2018

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Trade Show News Network has recognized the NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits as 2018’s Fastest Growing Association Show in the U.S., presenting the honor at the TSNN Awards Aug. 11 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Coming on the heels of the largest NRA Annual Meetings in history last May in Dallas, the event, already named amongst TSNN’s Top 25 Fastest-Growing Shows in the country, earned the top spot from amongst hundreds of association shows annually.

Unusual for a 70 year old show from a 147 year old organization to garner such an award over organizations representing new, developing industries, Jeff Poole, NRA’s Director of Shows and Exhibits, said the award “demonstrates the vitality of the NRA and the firearms industry.”

Poole added, “This award is proof that NRA is in tune with its membership, true to its mission and delivering the content our members want.”

The 147th NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits, held May 3-6, 2018 in Dallas, welcomed a record attendance of 87,154 patriots to explore more than 800 exhibitors, workshops, seminars and entertainment events in the biggest Annual Meetings to date. This year’s landmark event also marked the first time in NRA history that both a sitting President and Vice President of the United States attended and addressed NRA Members.

The 148th NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits is scheduled for April 25-28, 2019, in Indianapolis. To learn more about the NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits, visit https://www.nraam.org

Rio Ammunition announces the launch of new packaging specifically to support the NRA

Tuesday, August 21st, 2018

Irving, Tx. (August 20, 2018) – Manufactured in Marshall, Texas, the new Rio Patriot Pack features a distinctive outer sleeve design holding one hundred 12-gauge cartridges that are designed for wing and target shooting. The Patriot Packs also feature Rio’s commitment to the NRA’s mission. While the lines are being drawn and many companies in the sporting goods industries are withdrawing their support for the rights guaranteed in our Constitution, Rio is stepping forward to renew its support for the second amendment.

Rio’s proud support for the NRA takes two separate approaches. First is in a direct contribution of one dollar for every Patriot Pack sold through June 15th of 2019. These funds will prove crucial in the NRA’s various educational and legislative initiatives aimed at preserving our firearms rights for future generations. Second, Rio is working with the NRA to offer a membership discount of up to $40 if customers sign up through a special URL found only on the Patriot Packaging.

“By helping to fund vital NRA programs,” says Darrell Morrow, National Sales Director for Rio, “and by compelling our customers to sign up for an NRA membership, Rio is helping to ensure that the qualities of discipline, respect, good sportsmanship and loyalty, all key aspects of the shooting sports, are carried forward to the next generation of collectors, hunters and competitors.”

“We are grateful for RIO’s commitment to the Second Amendment.” says Todd Grable, Executive Director of Membership for the NRA, “It is critical to have partners who stand with all of us in protecting our Second Amendment rights and preserving America’s shooting sports heritage.”

Patriot Packs are produced in Rio Ammunition’s 105,000 square foot, state-of-the-art Marshall, Texas production facility. This facility, one of three operated globally by Rio’s parent company, MAXAM Outdoors, is capable of producing over 300 million shot shells annually at full capacity. This facility not only creates some of the finest cartridges in the world, it also creates solid American jobs in east Texas.

NRAAM 18 – B&T APC308

Monday, May 7th, 2018

We decided to wrap up our NRA Annual Meeting and Exhibits coverage with a new offering from Switzerland’s B&T, the Advanced Police Carbine 308. The APC line already includes 9mm, .45, .223, 5.56mm and .300 versions, but the APC 308 model required some engineering to scale the design up.

Currently, they plan to introduce an Assault Rifle (Full Auto), Carbine (Semi Auto), Pistol (Semi Auto) and PDWs in both Semi and Full Auto. It features a locked rotating bolt, gas piston operating system. The barrel on the example we looked at was 14.5” with a pinned flash hider, designed to accept B&T suppressors. It has an overall length of 874 mm (611 mm with stock folded). The APC308 weighs 3.9 kg and has ambidextrous controls, including charging handle. The APC308 accepts SR25 pattern magazines.

There is a full length Mil STD 1913 rail down the top of the upper receiver and handguard as well as at the bottom of the handguard. Additionally, there are removable Picatinny rail sections for either side of the handguard. In addition to the side folder stock, B&T offers a collapsible stock as well as end cap. Here, you can see the buffer and spring.

An interesting feature on the bolt carrier is the insert seen at the side of the carrier in the photo below, which is found on the full auto variants of other APC models. For the APC308, it is standard and is used to slow the bolt carrier down.
