The coolest giveaway I saw at AUSA was the “Felin in Action” graphic novel in the French Army booth. It features the French Army’s Digitization suite (Felin) in action. The copy I saw was in English so I wonder if these are available for sale as it looks like it’s part of a series.

Orion’s Kin is an upcoming television program that “…will focus on applying core military tactics and modern military technologies to the unforgiving environments of the North American backcountry.” The program is headed by Adam Mattis, U.S. Army Veteran and outdoorsman/conservationist. The page also features a blog with frequent updates and a store featuring Orion’s Kin-themed apparel. Orion’s Kin is slated to start filming this Fall, and appear on television sometime next year.
Alpha Industries has continued to manufactured many old school military clothing items. This time it’s the M1951 ‘Fishtail’ parka. While you seem to find these all over the UK thanks to their adoption by the Mod culture in the 1960s, you rarely see them in the US. They are great oversized parka shells and can be worn to protect or conceal what’s underneath.

The Army “Fishtail” Parka was part of a layering clothing system for cold, wet weather. The parka was named “Fishtail” because the back had a split skirt tail the resembled a fish. The skirt could be snapped into the parka when not needed but in wet weather the two parts would be wrapped around the soldier’s legs to provide additional protection from rain and snow when the solder sat or marched. The parka pictured here is the 1965 model, but it was first developed in 1951.

A commercial model is available exclusively through Urban Outfitters. (Never thought I’d be mentioning them on here). Heads up, it does not include the liner and uses an orange zipper rather than the original brass zipper and incorporates oversized drawstring keepers.
The Hammock Compatible Sleeping Bag from Grand Trunk was developed based on a concept by Herrick Kroeger, an employee of Georgia’s Blue Sky Outfitters. The Thinsulate filled sleeping bag design cocoons the hammock (and you) and incorporates channels at either end for the suspension lines. Grand Trunk claims it fits most hammocks and looking at the design I’d say that it will work with most commonly available models.
