Quick Fit Recce EO System Launched by Chess At DSEI

Long range easy to fit, easy to use Hawkeye Vehicle System on stand S8-140

A quick fit electro optical system designed for recce vehicles is launched at DSEI by Chess Dynamics on stand S8-140.

The Hawkeye Vehicle System (VS) is an easy to use, easy to fit surveillance system which allows the operator to see out to 15km using long range day/night sensors.

“The basic principles of reconnaissance have not changed in millennia, it is to gather and disseminate tactical and operational level information which enables commanders to disrupt an enemy’s activities,” said David Eldridge, Sales Director at Chess Dynamics. “Our Hawkeye VS is designed specifically to enhance the most reliable method of persistent surveillance and observation, eyes on the ground.”

To reduce the operator’s workload the system uses the latest image stabilisation and video tracker techniques, in addition to relevant situational awareness aids. A touch screen, icon based display and a Game Pad style controller makes the system both intuitive and very easy to use. The system has built into it the ability to set up specific target areas which are monitored automatically and the operator alerted to any activity rather than having to continually monitor the screen.

The system comprises a four metre pneumatic mast that lifts the electro optic head, which enables the vehicle to remain “hull down” in anonymity while observing targets at a safe distance and out of reach of direct line of sight weapons.

A Gen4 cooled thermal imager and Chess Dynamics Long Range Piranha Day/Low light camera forms the backbone of the system, detecting targets at extreme ranges.

The sensor suite also incorporates a Laser Range Finder capable of measuring ranges up to 17km; an optional Laser Target Marker, Designator or NIR pointer can also be fitted to enhance the platforms capability. The system is geo-referenced system enabling the platform to give accurate target location, which, with the correct battlefield C4I system, can support and feed into the wider targeting cycle.

“A combination of these assets in a squadron would prove useful for target hand off and directing troops at night,” said Mr Eldridge.

Hi-Lux Introduces New Rifle Scope for CMP and NRA Service Rifle Matches

Saturday, September 9th, 2017

The Hi-Lux XTC 1-4 X 34 rifle scope is specifically designed for CMP and NRA High Power “Across the Course” Competition. Featuring a 34mm objective lens for optimal light gathering, the XTC 1-4 X 34 has front objective parallax adjustment from 15 yards to infinity. Since stages for Across the Course matches are set at fixed distances of 200, 300 and 600 yards, an adjustable parallax is critical in minimizing the parallax error.

Additionally, fine ¼ MOA click elevation and windage turrets allow for precise adjustment. The XTC 1-4 X 34 is the next generation of the Hi-Lux Close-to-Medium Range (CMR) tactical scope and is loaded with advanced design features that truly put it in a class all of its own.

Quantico Tactical Thursday – SNIPERCAP by Agile Precision

Thursday, September 7th, 2017

The Multi-Function Lens Cover to Rule Them All.

Quantico Tactical is proud to carry the SNIPERCAP by Agile Precision. The SNIPERCAP gives a shooter new optics capabilities in a robust design that o?ers protection for the objective lens of a ri?e scope. In addition to o?ering sealed water resistant protection for your optic’s objective lens, it allows the user to adjust the aperture exposing the lens. This gives the user a great tactical advantage in signature management and light transmission.

The SNIPERCAP creates an adjustable iris that allows the shooter to augment their optic in multiple ways. In its fully open mode, it acts as a typical sunshade for the scope. In the fully closed position, the SNIPERCAP gives water-resistant protection for the objective lens of the ri?e scope. This o?ers a major advantage over other protective caps. There are no ?ip caps to be broken, and nothing to remove or get lost. The true capabilities of this design, however, lie in between the two.

By twisting the cap the user can vary the aperture from fully open to completely closed depending on what the situation allows. There are ten potential aperture sizes with tactile clicks at each stop allowing the user to operate by feel. When in a tactical scenario where the shooter must avoid detection, reducing the aperture virtually eliminates glint o? the objective lens while still allowing the shooter to view the target. The size of the aperture can be adjusted based on ambient light conditions to balance the need for optical clarity and minimal glint.

If using an in-line night vision device, the SNIPERCAP can act as a coupler. Reducing the aperture size reduces glare coming o? the objective lens from the night vision display and in some cases completely seals around the ocular lens.

The SNIPERCAP is available for several optics including the:
• Leupold Mk4 12-40×60 Spotting Scope
• Leupold Mk6 3-18 Rifle Scope 44mm Objective
• Steiner M5Xi 3-15 50mm Objective
• Steiner M5Xi 5-25 56mm Objective
• S&B PMII 56mm Objective

The SNIPERCAP is available to US Military and Law Enforcement organizations from Quantico Tactical via our GSA Schedule or DLAs TLS Program.

Scalarworks Launches Aimpoint Pro Quick-Detach Mount

    Wednesday, August 23rd, 2017

    scalarworks_ldm-pro_aimpoint-pro-mount_quick-detach

Easton, PA – August 22, 2017 – Scalarworks is pleased to introduce the Low Drag MountTM for Aimpoint PRO sights; the lightest quick-detach Aimpoint PRO mount in existence.

    Scalarworks_LDM210_aimpoint_pro_mount_lower-third_rear

The LDM/PRO is a lightweight, high-strength, low-profile, quick-detach optic mount for with MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rails, that is compatible with the Aimpoint PRO, Aimpoint ACO, Aimpoint CompM2, and Aimpoint CompM3, and most other 30mm tube sights.

The Scalarworks LDM/PRO features a user friendly and low-profile 30mm ring. The Scalarworks ring has a precision fitted alloy steel hinge that ensures even pressure around the optic, without requiring the tedious and imprecise setup that traditional rings do. Twin oversize CNC machined shoulder screws provide even tension and act as structural elements, making the entire ring assembly phenomenally rigid.

Like every Scalarworks Low Drag MountTM, the LDM/PRO has the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any quick detach mount on the market. It’s tubular monolithic base is CNC machined from ultra high-strength 7075-T6 aluminum, and features our patented recoil-proof thumbscrew with ball detent mechanism. It also has the same precision telescoping clamp as our popular Aimpoint Micro, and Trijicon MRO mounts, which ensures a repeatable zero with each installation.

The LDM/PRO weighs less than 2.45oz (in lower-third height) which is less than half that of Aimpoint’s bundled QRP2 mount. The LDM/PRO is proudly made in the USA, and is available in both Absolute and Lower-Third Co-Witness height variants.

Okay Kids, Don’t Stare At The Solar Eclipse With Dad’s NODs

    Monday, August 21st, 2017

It was bound to happen. Our friends at TNVC received this email earlier today.

    Sent: Monday, August 21, 2017 3:09 PM
    To: Sales
    Subject: Night vision binoculars

    To whom it may concern,

My Dad has a pair of your night vision binoculars. Today I was stupid and used them during the day, and the sun ruined the lens. I didn’t know that the sun could ruin the lens. I feel so awful and sick that I did this to my Dad. He’s a veteran in the military and he has been saving up so much of his money to buy these binoculars, and he also waited about 4 months to get them. I’m only 21 and there’s no way I can repay him for what I’ve done. Please help me out. Is there anywhere I could get the lens replaced? Is there anything I can do?

    Thank you,

    XXXX XXXXXXXX

Now, let’s see how many SSD readers with 21 year olds and a new set of Bino NODs, rush home from work.
