MATBOCK Tariser Eclipse 12 Years Later!

Tuesday, January 16th, 2024

Look what MATBOCK found when digging through their videos.

For nearly a decade, the Tarsier Eclipse has been on the market. This was one of the original designs that ultimately didn’t make the cut, a few reasons why it didn’t make the cut.
The material is less protective than the current rubber body, which acts as a shock absorber.
The inability to quickly identify how open or closed the iris is, even with cold weather gloves on.
Less parts that required being screwed together
Operators were inadvertently unlocking or twisting the body off when they adjusted the iris to “fully open” or “fully closed”.
Here is a cool pro-tip they just posted the other day.

Introducing the Atibal P1 Solar 1x Micro Prism

Monday, January 15th, 2024

The patent pending Atibal P1 is the first solar power illuminated laser etched reticle reflex optic.

Traditional reflex optics project the reticle against a plane of glass. The P1 utilizes a laser etched illuminated reticle which is much clearer and sharper than projected dots. These features eliminate reticle “splash” or “flare” many deal with from projected illumination.

The illuminated reticle is apparent with or without battery power. The patent pending technologies allow for the solar power to amplify and enhance the traditional battery power. The solar illumination is activated based on battery condition. As the battery degrades the P1 is designed to automatically compensate in a method we call “Solar Failsafe”. The Atibal Solar Failsafe adjusts reticle intensity during low battery power to conserve power.  The P1 automatically adjusts reticle brightness based on the amount of power the battery has and the solar cell creates.

Solar Failsafe allows for brighter conditions, to provide a brighter reticle. While in low-light situations, the reticle softly steps down its intensity to perfectly match any lighting conditions. These features allow the P1 to have industry leading battery life of 30,000 hours and beyond. With Solar failsafe, you never have to worry about your battery dying because you always have a reliable backup power source whenever there’s natural or artificial light.

The P1 is the ideal size and weight for short range and close quarters engagements. The P1 has a “no-snag” design and its exceptionally small size and weight allows maximum agility in tight spaces. With “Shake Awake” illumination and a large eyebox are key advantages when speed and accuracy are paramount.

The P1 includes a picatinny rail compatible mount set at an ideal height for most applications. It also utilizes the Aimpoint T1/T2 footprint to maximize options for additional mounting uses.

The patent pending P1 Solar 1x Micro Prism offers unmatched clarity, features, durability, and value.

The reticle is designed so that the 65 MOA outer ring can be used to rapidly frame the target until the center dot is realized and a confident shot can be placed. The uncluttered sight picture along with the both eyes open operation of the P1 enable the shooter to better observe the impact area and place accurate follow up shots rapidly when needed, all the while maintaining good situational awareness.

EOTECH Launches the Vudu X Series Rifle Scopes

Monday, January 8th, 2024

Plymouth, MI (January 2024) – EOTECH, the world leader in Holographic Weapon Sights, is proud to announce the introduction of the Vudu X line of premium rifle scopes. The X Series rifle scopes are designed to meet the demands of the outdoor enthusiast.  Whether it’s 3-gun, hunting, or recreational shooting, the Vudu X scopes can make that critical shot.

Starting from a solid piece of aircraft-grade aluminum and finished with the high-quality AR-coated glass, the Vudu X rifle scopes are ultra-tough and crystal clear.  Introductory models feature a second focal plane optic design allowing for quick and accurate targeting at all magnification levels, and its illuminated reticle will let you take that shot during the difficult low-light hours of dawn and dusk.

“We developed the X series line of Vudu scopes to address the shooter that wants all of the accuracy, precision and durability of our legacy Vudu scopes, but with features and a price that better match their needs” said Mark Miller, Director of Product Management for EOTECH. “We have put in a lot of work in the designs of these scopes and as always, we ran them through the same excruciating testing that our other Vudu and holographic products go through. We are confident these will exceed expectations”.

The Vudu X rifle scopes are available in 1-6×24 and 2-12×40 models. Both offer 30mm tube diameter, illuminated reticles powered by a CR2032 battery, and a removable throw lever for quick transitions across the magnification range. Available in MOA adjustments, the DP1 reticle provides the ultra-popular duplex crosshair while the BD1 provides additional circular ballistic holds at 2MOA increments for longer distances.  The turrets are capped to avoid any accidental adjustments and provide a simple zero reset feature making adjustments and return to zero fast and easy.  Branded front and back flip-up scope caps are included to provide protection against the elements.  Production and delivery are scheduled to begin in Q1 2024.  MSRP starts at $799.

Bushnell Releases MOA Version of Match Pro ED 5-30X56 Riflescope

Thursday, January 4th, 2024

Popular Long-Range Riflescope Available with Deploy MOA Reticle

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – January 3, 2024 – Bushnell®, an industry leader in performance optics, has released an MOA version of its popular, award-winning Match Pro ED 5-30X56 riflescope.

In stock and shipping now, the Match Pro ED MOA 5-30X56 has the same original features and high-quality glass that competitive shooters have come to rely on, plus it gives a blue-ribbon option to those who prefer to work in MOA adjustments instead of MRAD.

“We heard the requests loud and clear and knew it was time to bring out an MOA version of the Match Pro ED riflescope,” said Travis Overfelt, Engineer and Product Manager for Competition and Tactical Optics at Bushnell. “In doing so, we modified the reticle and turrets to accommodate MOA. The Deploy MOA 2 reticle has a theme like the Deploy MIL 2 reticle, but the turrets are in ¼ MOA clicks and the elevation turret has an extra row of numerals to help shooters keep track of their dial into the second revolution up from zero.”

With a class-leading magnification range, the Bushnell Match Pro ED MOA 5-30X56 has a 34mm main tube which gives room for 100 MOA in elevation adjustments and 50 MOA in windage adjustments. The Match Pro ED also boasts best-in-class optical performance with its ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) Prime 56mm objective with Bushnell’s patented EXO Barrier coating for protection against the elements.

The glass-etched Deploy MOA 2 reticle is always visible and has 11 brightness settings, allowing the shooter to optimize the reticle for any light condition. The integral holdover tree lets a shooter instantly adjust point of aim without dialing, as well as allows for 68 up, 20 down and 34 MOA left or right. The riflescope also features a 6-hour auto-off illumination timer to increase battery life.

Because the reticle is etched in the first focal plane, the sub-tensions are always accurate regardless of the magnification setting. With a parallax adjustment down to just 15 yards, the Match Pro ED MOA 5-30X56 riflescope can get shooters on target at any range and is a versatile across any rifle platform whether rimfire, centerfire or air rifle.

Additional standard features included on the Match Pro ED include an integral Easy Set zero stop and 2-stage pop-up rev-indicator, a removable, 3-position power change lever plus a removable sunshade.

Spuhr – Dual Dot Aimpoint Mount

Sunday, December 31st, 2023

Håkan Spuhr showed off the Dual Dot, which he developed as a simple way of having two dots for two distances or two different ammos, like sub and super. It was a very simple project that he didn’t end up producing but nevertheless, obtained a patent for.

Here’s a little history from Håkan on how that came about. Years ago, Spuhr was contacted by a well known SF unit requiring a sight mount for an Aimpoint with two individual zeros in the mount. He says this was well before TaracHQ and Wilcox BOSS.

The gun was a .300 blk that they intended on firing both subsonic and supersonic. Here is his first attempt to solve the problem which is a mount with a lever for two settings.

When you zero it you zero in position A, lever at front and ontain zero with the Aimpoint.

When you switch ammo you move the lever to the B position (rearward) and zero elevation with adjustment screw at right side of base.

The mount for twist mount is built into the mount.

The whole idea failed as the windage movement of the subsonic bullet was so big that windage adjustment was badly needed for position B.

Spuhr said he really doesn’t want to make a mount with both windage and elevation adjustments as that is just asking for problems.

Next, he suggested incorporating the windage movement in the base, but with a forced non-adjustable movement, reqiring the customer to simply specify how much windage adjustment they needed for every mil of elevation travel.

The customer rejected the suggested solution and required that both zeros should be individually movable and that was then Spuhr made the dual aimpoint mount.

The customer was not interested in a dual mount and only wanted a mount for Aimpoint with two zeros.

“As it’s my absolute opinion that it’s a really bad idea I left the project,” explained Spuhr, “Another well known company took over but since I never saw any products I assume it didn’t go as planned.”
