THYRM Introduces the CLENS in Dedicated Sheets

Thursday, August 23rd, 2018

Sunnyvale, CA —

In September 2017, THYRM introduced the CLENS, a revolutionary lens cover for weapon lights. First available in a variety pack to fit many models of lights, consumers requested the ability to order only specific sizes. In response, THYRM now sells the CLENS in three sizes in addition to a variety pack. New items include 18 lenses each to fit the following lights.

CLENS-18S
SureFire X300U, XH30, Scout Lights
Inforce WMLx

CLENS-18M
Streamlight TLR, TLR-HL
SureFire G2X, 6PX

CLENS-18L
Streamlight HL, HL-X
SureFire Fury, Intellibeam

CLENS (pronounced “cleanse”) are heat-resistant clear polymer circles that are cut to fit on a wide range of flashlight and weapon-light lenses. CLENS protects the lens from carbon and other debris that can build up from the use of lights during firearms training. CLENS can be removed to quickly clean a light, rather than having to apply Vaseline before shooting, replace a lens or risk abrasion with lens cleaners.

The CLENS is the collaborative effort of Thyrm and Aaron Cowan of Sage Dynamics / Sage Instruments. Designed and manufactured in the USA, these new dedicated sheets are now available at Thyrm.com.

The Multi Use Block

Monday, July 30th, 2018

It would seem that Outdoor Retailer is the last place I’d learn about a new optics mount. But when you realize it’s now held in Denver, which is just up the road from Fort Carson and it’s tenant, the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), it makes complete sense.

During a reception one evening, a couple of ADS employees told me about a new optics mount called the Multi Use Block. It is manufactured by a company founded by a team of Veteran and Active Duty Soldiers called appropriately enough, The MUB, LLC.

The device itself is multifaceted. First off, both Manfrotto and Arca Swiss attachments are machined into the base, to accommodate the direct attachment for either style of tripod.

Next, you’ll notice a large cavity down the middle of the MUB which facilitates bore sighting. Additionally, either the LaRue spotter Kit or Badger Ordnance SLICK mount will attach directly to the top of the MUB via a Picatinny mount. You’ll also notice a level built into the rear of the base.

What’s more, the MUB will work with a Hog Saddle or RRS Vyce-style gun clamp. The MUB was built tall enough to still work inside a Hog Saddle without the throw levers being hindered by the height of the walls on the Saddle.

PRS competitors have also used the MUB attached to the bottom of their rifle chassis handguard to gain additional purchase on various obstacles.

The MUB may be used with an accessory rail called the Wing which mounts in a perpendicular orientation, offering space for additional target acquisition systems.

MUB is also designed to be a completely tool-less device. The Picatinny rail locking bar can be adjusted without tools and the Wing has 2 x 1/4-20 thumb screws for a tool-less attachment of any sort.

The MUB weighs 14.4 oz with the Wing mounted. Made from 6061 Aluminum, the Wing itself weighs just 5 oz.

Finally, MUB is Made in America of 6061 die cast Aluminum, anodized in Gun Metal Black.

Hi-Lux Introduces the ART M1000-PRO Riflescope

Thursday, July 26th, 2018

1

As part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the Automatic Ranging Trajectory (ART) riflescope, Hi-Lux introduces the latest version of James Leatherwood’s innovative method of simplifying long-range shooting – the Hi-Lux ART M1000-PRO.

ART technology raises and lowers the rear of the scope similar to an open sight, allowing shooters to get first round hits of up to 1000 yards without complex distance estimation.

2

Specifically designed for hunters, the Hi-Lux ART M1000-PRO is a 2 to 10 power scope featuring the HR1 illuminated MOA reticle. The HR1 reticle is available in red or green illumination and the lowest three brightness settings are compatible for use with night vision optics.

3

Each hash mark on the vertical and horizontal scale indicates a MOA sub tension. A longer 2 MOA tick mark indicates multiples of 5 MOA on both the horizontal and vertical scale. The ends of the axes are indicated by a 4 MOA tick mark.

4

The ranging scale is used to frame and range known sized targets from 9” to 72” in length or height. Range estimation is accomplished by overlaying the framing mark onto the target, adjusting the magnification until the mark frames the dimension of all or part of the target. Adjusting the magnification also adjusts the trajectory and automatically compensates for the bullet drop.

5

The total adjustment range is 90 MOA windage and elevation in 1/4 MOA increments. Each turret can be re-indexed after zeroing.

The 30mm tube’s incredible light gathering ability provides enhanced sight picture resolution and clarity at dawn or dusk.
