Monday, October 14th, 2019

October 14, 2019 (Redmond, WA) – The B.E. Meyers & Co. MAWL®-X1 high-power infrared aiming and illumination laser has been added to the United States Air Force Small Arms and Light Weapons Accessories list. It is now available to Combat Airmen organizations including Special Tactics, Combat Control Teams, Tactical Air Control Party, Combat Rescue, Special Reconnaissance, and Combat Weather Squadrons.  703 MAWL®-X1 units have been procured by the USAF, in addition to those fielded by other U.S. Armed Forces to date.

The MAWL®-X1 will be on exhibit at the 2019 AUSA Annual Meeting (B.E. Meyers & Co. booth #3825) on October 14-16, in Washington D.C.

ABOUT THE MAWL®-X1

Designed for use on individual and crew-served weapons, the MAWL®-X1 is the Department of Defense specific variant of B.E. Meyers & Company’s highly successful Modular Advanced Weapon Laser line. A truly modular system, the MAWL®-X1 is comprised of three interchangeable components (Head, Body, and End-Cap) that can be configured for right or left handed shooters, and individually replaced, or upgraded for increased versatility.

The MAWL®-X1 leverages VCSEL technology to produce unmistakably superior beam quality and clarity. Beams are stacked and balanced, providing increased situational awareness, and the ability to overcome photonic barriers created by external light sources.  Preset divergence and power outputs allow the shooter to quickly switch between Short Range (CQB), Mid-Range, and Long Range pointing and illumination settings in under a second.

Modular, dependable, and deadly, the MAWL®-X1 provides unparalleled performance for the modern night fighter.

Logos Technologies Unveils New Platform-Flexible Multi-Modal Sensor Pod at AUSA

Thursday, October 10th, 2019

Pod combines wide-area hyperspectral capability with wide-area motion imagery (WAMI) and high-resolution imagery

FAIRFAX, Va.–Logos Technologies announced today that it will be exhibiting for the very first time its airborne, platform-flexible Multi-Modal Sensor Pod (MMSP) at the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Meeting and Exposition, on October 14-16.

Mounted on planes, helicopters and Group 3-5 unmanned aircraft systems, the MMSP houses:

• A wide-area motion imagery (WAMI) system,

• a wide-area hyperspectral imager,

• a high-resolution spotter, and an

• onboard embedded processor for real-time processing and storage.

The three MMSP sensors work in partnership, with autonomous cross tasking, to deliver comprehensive, multi-layered information in real-time.

“This is invaluable and a great force multiplier to the warfighter,” said Doug Rombough, VP of Business Development for Logos Technologies, “because it greatly reduces the number of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance sorties needed over a target area, saving time, saving platforms and saving equipment.”

As part of the MMSP, the WAMI system can image a city-sized area in medium resolution, enough to detect and track every mover within the vast scene, while the narrow-field high-resolution spotter can be cued to monitor 10-plus locations automatically, providing identification-quality imagery.

The hyperspectral imager provides additional information by scanning the scene for unique spectral signatures of camouflaging netting, explosive stores, tank hulls or any other relevant targets. The MMSP hyperspectral imager covers an area 15 times larger than that of traditional hyperspectral sensors.

“The MMSP covers an area in real-time as well as records, tags and stores up to eight hours of imagery for review by analysts while the pod is still in the air. It does all of this while fitting in a package that weighs less than 100 pounds (45kg),” Rombough said.

In addition to the MMSP, Logos Technologies will also be exhibiting the following lightweight WAMI systems:

• the Redkite platform-flexible pod,

• the Redkite-I for the Insitu Integrator,

• the Kestrel Block II for aerostats, as well as

• the Multi-Modal Edge Processor.

Plumb Precision Rapid Target Engagement Reticle

Monday, October 7th, 2019

This video of the Plumb Precision Rapid Target Engagement Reticle discusses the concepts behind the design. There are two modes of use (rapid and deliberate) in three range sections (close, mid, far). Additionally, it discusses the non-BDC version which allows for users to set their own Data On Previous Engagements or “Dope” and apply the Plumb reticle across different calibers on different rifles.

To give you an idea of how the reticle works, here it is at 100m with an 18” man sized target. inner arc shows 6” middle arc, middle and the outer arc is 12”. The full set of arcs is 18”. It indexes on the widest part of human shoulders, allowing for precision interdiction for cranial, axillary (armpit), and shots at the airway. Each of the mil marks sit center of each 2″ increment (blue tape is 2″).

SPARTANAT: First Time in Action for the TILO-6MA at the Outer-Limits Experience Week in Austria

Tuesday, September 24th, 2019

The TILO is still the smallest thermal imaging goggle in the world with a 640 pixel sensor. It has been used since one year in various special units worldwide. Also with the US authorities it enjoys increasing popularity and was procured. The new metal version of the TILO-6M is now equipped with an aluminium housing and is waterproof up to 20m and therefore also suitable for divers. During the Experience Week at the Grundlsee in Austria, enthusiastic interested parties were able to convince themselves of the possibilities of these smallest thermal imaging goggles to date. A German SEK (SWAT team) took the opportunity and tested the TILO.

The TILO can be fastened as shown with a very light helmet holder. For use with a diving mask a special spacer is used, so that the distance is sufficiently large. Alternatively an attachment to the Opscore Shroud is possible for this there is also an adapter available.

The Aluverion of the TILO-6M is also much more suitable than the plastic version for use as an thermal clip on. With its bayonet connection it can be mounted in front of a rifle scope within seconds.

In combination with the afocal attachment lens it can reach a detection range (standing man) of 2,5km.

Here, you can find the SPARTANAT report from outer-limits Experience Week 2019.
