Rheinmetall To Feature Newest Dismounted Precision Fire Control Solution at 2019 AUSA

Thursday, October 10th, 2019

Rheinmetall will feature its most innovative modern fire control system to date, the Rheinmetall Precision Aiming Laser (R-PAL) at booth (#6618) during the 2019 AUSA annual meeting, held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, October 14-16th, in Washington, DC.

The Rheinmetall Precision Aiming Laser is a highly ruggedized, compact range finder with an integrated aiming, pointing, and illuminating laser system; environmental sensor/processor; and onboard ballistics table specifically designed to withstand the demands of today’s ever changing military operations. The R-PAL builds upon Rheinmetall Group’s extensive laser aiming product knowledge to provide a system that is second to none. Our products are purchased by numerous militaries worldwide including USSOCOM.

The innovative design of the R-PAL is compact, lightweight, and user configurable, allowing the operator to easily and uniquely mount, adjust power settings, navigate menu options and operate the device. The system provides superior illumination beam quality and uniformity that increases the operator’s situational awareness in all environments.

The ruggedized design of the R-PAL provides stability, reliability, and is compatible with all in-service night vision devices.

Rheinmetall’s engineering team worked directly with the end-users to ensure the design of the R-PAL enables the device to withstand the demands of today’s precision rifles, assault rifles and hostile combat environments; while providing the operator with a system that is straightforward and easy to employ.

The R-PAL has been designed and manufactured by American Rheinmetall Systems, located in Biddeford, ME.

The R-PAL unit will be on display at the Rheinmetall booth (#6618) throughout the course of the show.

Plumb Precision Rapid Target Engagement Reticle

Monday, October 7th, 2019

This video of the Plumb Precision Rapid Target Engagement Reticle discusses the concepts behind the design. There are two modes of use (rapid and deliberate) in three range sections (close, mid, far). Additionally, it discusses the non-BDC version which allows for users to set their own Data On Previous Engagements or “Dope” and apply the Plumb reticle across different calibers on different rifles.

To give you an idea of how the reticle works, here it is at 100m with an 18” man sized target. inner arc shows 6” middle arc, middle and the outer arc is 12”. The full set of arcs is 18”. It indexes on the widest part of human shoulders, allowing for precision interdiction for cranial, axillary (armpit), and shots at the airway. Each of the mil marks sit center of each 2″ increment (blue tape is 2″).

SPARTANAT: First Time in Action for the TILO-6MA at the Outer-Limits Experience Week in Austria

Tuesday, September 24th, 2019

The TILO is still the smallest thermal imaging goggle in the world with a 640 pixel sensor. It has been used since one year in various special units worldwide. Also with the US authorities it enjoys increasing popularity and was procured. The new metal version of the TILO-6M is now equipped with an aluminium housing and is waterproof up to 20m and therefore also suitable for divers. During the Experience Week at the Grundlsee in Austria, enthusiastic interested parties were able to convince themselves of the possibilities of these smallest thermal imaging goggles to date. A German SEK (SWAT team) took the opportunity and tested the TILO.

The TILO can be fastened as shown with a very light helmet holder. For use with a diving mask a special spacer is used, so that the distance is sufficiently large. Alternatively an attachment to the Opscore Shroud is possible for this there is also an adapter available.

The Aluverion of the TILO-6M is also much more suitable than the plastic version for use as an thermal clip on. With its bayonet connection it can be mounted in front of a rifle scope within seconds.

In combination with the afocal attachment lens it can reach a detection range (standing man) of 2,5km.

Here, you can find the SPARTANAT report from outer-limits Experience Week 2019.

BE Meyers & Co BOARS-M2 Optic Mount Selected For US Army Fielding

Tuesday, September 24th, 2019

boars-m2_000.jpg

September 24, 2019 (Redmond, WA) – B.E. Meyers & Co. Inc. is proud to announce that the BOARS®-M2 optics and accessory rail system has been issued National Stock Number (NSN)1240-01-682-8650 by TACOM, US Army, following successful evaluation and testing through the US Army Soldier Enhancement Program (SEP).

A total of 4,752 complete BOARS®-M2 units have been procured for initial fielding by PM Soldier Weapons, PEO Soldier. Designed to support a variety of mounted machine gun optics for the M2 and M3 family of weapon systems, the BOARS-M2 provides a modular, low-profile optics and accessory rail mount with true return-to-zero capability.  The BOARS-M2 is ideal for those wishing to easily transition from a day optic to a night optic while retaining boresight for both systems, and without interfering with the operation of the spade grips or the feed tray cover.

Units are encouraged to contact PM-Soldier Weapons, PEO Soldier, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ to place their demands for initial fielding.

FEATURES AND CAPABILITES

LOW PROFILE

The BOARS®-M2 is the lowest-profile M2 mount for optics and accessories.

With an overall height measuring in at a 2.1 inches over the top of the receiver, the BOARS-M2 is almost half height of the current optic/accessory mounting solutions. This drastic reduction in height translates into a lower end-user defilade and increased operator survivability during use.

MODULARITY

The BOARS-M2 is a two-piece design (lower base, and detachable upper rail rail) which provides a quick-disconnect for effective changes between day and night optics with true return-to-zero reattach. The lower base of the mount is installed via friction clamps and is meant to remain on the host platform, while the detachable rail incorporates rail segments for mounting most common laser systems in conjunction with a top mounted optic, and a pass-through aperture for use of iron sights.

September 16, 2019 (Redmond, WA) – B.E. Meyers & Co., Inc. is proud to announce the addition of MAWL®-X1, a United States Department of Defense specific variant of the company’s highly successful MAWL® (Modular Advanced Weapon Laser) line of high-powered aiming and illumination laser systems for individual and crew-served weapons.

img_5722.jpg

In 2017 B.E. Meyers & Co. submitted a Flat Dark Earth, Near-Infrared / Visible MAWL® featuring the EC2 threaded Endcap to the Soldier Enhancement Program (SEP) via the U.S. Army Maneuver Center of Excellence, known as the MAWL®-X1. Following submission, PdM-SPTD procured it for Limited User Evaluations, which were conducted by various Combat Arms including units within the 82nd Airborne Division, 173rd Airborne Brigade, and the 2nd Infantry Division, among others. Approximately 766 MAWL®-X1 units have been fielded since 2018.

True Modularity

The MAWL®-X1 is a truly modular design comprised of three separate Head, Body, and End-Cap components, which allows it to be sustainable at a supply chain level. As an ambidextrous system, it can easily be configured for either right or left-handed shooters.

The “Alt Mount” Body allows for increased versatility across multiple weapon platforms, including the M4/M16, M27, M249, M240G, and precision rifles.

Superior Ergonomics

As with all MAWL® variants, the MAWL®-X1 is designed for intuitive operation: in the dark, under stress, and with gloves on. Featuring a simple switch mechanism with finely balanced power and divergence presets, the MAWL®-X1 allows for target transitions from close to long range in under a second.
