Grey Ghost Gear is now partnering with British firm Karrimor SF and had a few new products on display at OR. This is the Stealth Operator Pack. It’s in he catalog but they haven’t added it to the website yet. It is a very low profile design made from 500D Cordura. Look for a large main compartment with a single center zip pocket that runs the length of the pack. This external pocket contains a built in admin organizer. Additionally, the main compartment contains several internal mesh pockets. There is also a hydration sleeve between the padded back and main compartment. The shoulder straps attach to the pack via D rings to accommodate wider shoulders or use over other equipment.
Standard colors are Coyote and MultiCam. Obviously, this one was made from A-TACS FG. GGG is more than happy to produce this pack in custom runs of other materials and colors. Contact them for more details.
Look for more GGG/Karrimor news during the show.
Gerber Gear gave me a sneak peek of their upcoming Down Range Tomahawk.
This Tomahawk was designed around the task of breaching. It includes a axe head, a handle for the pry bar, a slightly curved handle to accommodate a prybar and a hammer head. Made from heat treated 420 High Carbon steel, it also incorporates a cutting blade to be used as a can opener. Additionally, the hammerhead is meant to be used. This is a working tool.
Tear-Aid is a see-through, airtight and waterproof repair tape. It is elastic and features an extreme bond. It sounds perfect for field repairs. In fact, the USCG uses it to repair their Zodiacs.
It comes in two types. Type B is for vinyl only and Type A works with all other materials.
Cilogear has introduced a signature line of packs. Now you can use the same setup as their sponsored athletes. For example, this is David Gottlieb model. He is a mountain rescue legend and relies on a special model of Cilogear’s 45 Worksack. It’s a combination of woven and non-woven fabrics to produce bomber performance. It’s fucking light and stupidly durable. Can you imagine a pack as light as 1.4 lbs stripped?
Spanish bookmaker Boreal doesn’t get much attention here in the US but their Strider model comes highly recommended by some friends of mine.
It’s a simple trekker featuring full grain leather uppers and a Boreal Dry-Line waterproof liner.
