There have a been a couple of packs that have come out over the years that have been specifically designed for use by airborne forces. The Enhanced Warfighter Jumpable Pack by London Bridge Trading Co is the latest and was created based on several requirements. First, they needed two models, a variant that was large enough for extended operations once the paratrooper hit the ground as well as a version to carry mortars. Additionally, they required an Integrated Single Point Release and leg loop stowage, Padded ESAPI Stowage for jumping and, last but not least, Berry Compliance.
LBT answered the call with the Enhanced Warfighter Jumpable Pack and the Enhanced Mortar Jump Pack. Both offer 4200 cu in of load carriage capacity with the Mortar model also capable of externally carrying a base plate. Both incorporate padded shoulder straps and waist belt and are Made in the USA.
As you can see, a single point release has been built into the bottom of the pack and is concealed via a zippered flap when not in use. Both the Enhanced Warfighter Jumpable Pack and the Enhanced Mortar Jump Pack have been airdrop certified by the Airborne and Special Operations Test Directorate.
While Hill People Gear is accepting pre-orders for the Tarahumara in Kryptek Highlander, the run is not yet guaranteed. In fact, your pre-orders will take this project over the finish line.
For those of you unfamiliar with the Tarahumara, here are a couple of factoids:
Named after the famous tribe of runners in Mexico, the Tarahumara daypack is paired with an HPG harness to “stay right on you through all kinds of activities.” Like all HPG products, it is “just complex enough to solve the problem, but no more”.
Tactical Assault Gear’s Shooter Sniper Rifle Case is a 50″x13.5″ clam shell case designed to filet open as a padded mat; completely unfolded it measures 70″x40″. It comes standard with an ammunition pouch that stores 80 rounds of .308 internally with 12 quick access loops on the exterior. The pouch attaches to either the left or right of the mat via hook and loop. Rubber nonskid is featured at the elbow area for stability. The case also has quick attach stowable shoulder straps made from 1″ webbing.

HonorPoint USA is releasing a new pack, the Evolution. I got to check it out at MDM and it relies on HonorPoint’s Zip Off Technology to configure the pack seven different ways. It can be formed into a three day pack, a day pack, or a sling pack, and the components can also be used separately as a utility belt, utility pouch, document pouch, and belt pouch. It offers a great deal of configuration options without the weight of PALS.
