The Pro XD firefighting and rescue units provide a diesel engine and enhanced payload

Minneapolis – October 8, 2020 – Utility task vehicles (UTV) are a critical component to any department’s fleet, improving response time, reach and reducing the personnel requirements, without compromising mobility, budget or effectiveness. The new Pro XD firefighting and rescue units are turn-key vehicles from Polaris Government and Defense, a division of global powersports leader Polaris Inc. (NYSE: PII), and the only utility vehicle manufacturer to directly offer complete and turn-key fire and rescue vehicle packages covered under manufacturer’s limited warranty.

The Polaris Pro XD is designed for the sole purpose of work, with an increased payload in the pallet-sized cargo box, greater durability and better serviceability. Pro XD has two and four-seat, gas and diesel models offering up to 2,075 pounds payload and 2,500 pounds towing capacities, heavy-duty driveline components and up to 200-hour maintenance intervals. The vehicles also feature puncture-resistant Kevlar®-backed vinyl seats, all-new tires for longer life on hard-packed surfaces, as well as multiple standard safety features like horn, reverse beeper and vehicle fault alarms which notify users of potential issues that could cause serious damage to the vehicle.

The Polaris Pro XD is a heavy-duty UTV-based apparatus designed to expand the reach of fire and rescue personnel and help improve response time in environments and conditions that traditional vehicles can’t access. The Pro XD’s larger cargo box and expanded payload allows for bigger skids, incorporating professional systems that are familiar, having been developed with years of firefighter input by industry expert RKO Enterprises®. The diesel model also benefits departments and organizations that have otherwise standardized on heavy-fuels. Three models include the firefighting UTV-based apparatus, rescue only, and a combination fire and rescue vehicle.

The Pro XD firefighting UTV has a 95-gallon water with 5-gallon integral foam copoly tank, foam fire suppression system, professional fire pump, hose and reel, and the ability to draft from an external water source. The Pro XD rescue skid incorporates a rear attendant seat and a stokes rescue basket. And a combination fire and rescue skid incorporates the fire tank and equipment as well as the stokes rescue basket. Any of the vehicles can also include professional emergency lighting, public address system and custom graphics to match the rest of a department’s fleet.

RKO Enterprises® develops the fire and rescue skids and integrates the equipment to provide the best, finished vehicle solutions for our customers. The fire and rescue equipment skids are also removable, retaining the vehicle’s modularity and allowing the Pro XD to be used for a variety of jobs, including fire prevention, search and rescue, public works applications, disaster relief and community events.

Polaris fire and rescue vehicles are also available for government discount pricing through GSA, Sourcewell® (formerly NJPA) or state or local contracts. Once purchased, the vehicles are professionally upfit and delivered directly to the customer’s location. The entire system comes fully set up for immediate use and is under full warranty from Polaris. Polaris also offers customers the capability to support and maintain their own fleet of vehicles through maintenance and operator training courses, authorized Pro XD dealers or Polaris can be contracted directly to provide the on-site service for the vehicles. Pro XD accessories also include an all-weather cab, heater and defrost, winch, and electric cargo box lift kit with in-dash switch.

Polaris has a history of helping organizations that serve our community and recognizes the important role grants play in funding. This commitment is strengthened through a grant assistant program geared toward state and local government, and educational customers. bit.ly/PolarisGrants.

PDW Kepler Down Cardigan

Warm, Light, Packable, Technical Mid-Layer Made with Premium Water Repellent Goose Down

Prometheus Design Werx introduces their Kepler Down Cardigan for Fall-Winter 2020. A follow up to their hooded version from 2019, the Kepler style is a collared version, packs down small for trail to travel, warm, light, and cut to fit under outerwear.

Made with state-of-the-art Dupont treated, water repellent, premium 800 fill power goose down that is 27 X more water resistant than untreated down, so the Kepler retains its thermal properties even if dunked or wet. Unique design details include an integrated stuff-sack storage camp pillow and detachable travel neck pillow, 6 pockets, a cozy brushed collar liner, and a 20D mini-ripstop nylon shell with DWR and Dupont Silvadur anti-microbial treatment.

The Design and R&D Team at PDW states:

“We created this collared style goose down mid-layer as a follow up to our hooded Tycho model and works perfectly as an insulating layer to be worn under any outerwear shell, or as alone as a light yet warm ‘shirt’ or ‘sweater’. From a comfort and performance perspective, there is nothing lighter, warmer and compressible than a down mid-layer. Down mid-layers allow the user to be unencumbered by excess weight; when not being used, they pack down smaller than any other technical mid-layer and can be easily stowed in a pack. We used a Dupont treated goose down fill, which is hydrophobic and makes it 27 times more resistant to water. It will even survive an accidental dunk and still insulate. While down jackets were never intended to be used as rain wear, the Kepler along with its DWR shell will allow the user ample time to shrug off the first minutes of rainfall to grab a waterproof shell to wear over and not lose its insulating capabilities. It’s the quality of make and design details that makes our goose down mid-layer stand out and be one of the best in its class, especially as this price point. We used premium 800 fill power goose down that is RDS certified, a DWR shell with anti-microbial Dupont Silvadur treatment, cozy brushed tricot collar liner, and expanded capabilities with its integrated camp pillow or travel neck pillow. From trail to travel the Kepler is a no-brainer, grab-and-go piece performance insulating mid-layer.”

The Kepler Down Cardigan is a part of Prometheus Design Werx’s PRO-Line of technical apparel. Available in Mission Gray, and Expedition Green.

The Kepler Down Cardigan will be available for purchase for $229.00 on Wednesday, October 14th, 2020 at 12:00pm PT via their website, prometheusdesignwerx.com.

New General Dynamics URC-300 Radio Now 25kHz and 8.33kHz ETSI Compliant for Global Operation

Friday, October 9th, 2020

General Dynamics is pleased to announce that its new URC-300™ radio has completed European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) European Standard (EN) 300 676 testing and is now in full compliance with all 25kHz and 8.33kHz VHF specifications. In addition, the URC-300 recently completed the ETSI EN 302 617 UHF testing and is also compliant with 25kHz UHF specifications. The tests were performed by an independent accredited testing service. These certifications make the URC-300 the first portable ruggedized man-pack dual band transceiver to be approved for global operation against the stringent aviation spectrum standards. Orders placed by the U.S. Air Force will begin shipping in December.

Certifications Obtained in Advance

General Dynamics understands that the spectrum approval process can be highly complex and time consuming, especially outside the U.S. As a result, General Dynamics will obtain all required certifications in advance to eliminate purchase, approval and spectrum roadblocks, and help streamline deployment without delays. In addition to the ETSI EN compliance, the URC-300 is also compliant with Radio Equipment Directive (RED), REACH, RoHS, and is certified by the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) for civilian use. Additionally, the U.S. Air Force is sponsoring the JF-12 process which will enable the URC-300 to operate in the U.S. DoD Spectrum.

About the URC-300

The URC-300 is a versatile platform that supports multiple waveforms and provides exceptional (RF) performance to support ground-to-air, line-of-site and other mission critical applications. It provides communications free from interference in highly congested environments and improves immunity to outside interference such as other airfield channels, Wi-Fi transmitters, and commercial FM broadcast towers. Users can operate multiple radios as close as 6.5 ft. apart without interference, an unprecedented capability compared to currently available tactical man-pack radios that require at least 50 to 115 feet of separation. This close proximity capability enables rapid grab-and-go, multi-channel operations during emergency situations.

The radio is specifically designed to enable future features and functions to be added in the field via quick and simple software upgrades. The radio meets MIL-STD-810 requirements for ruggedization and the newly redesigned front panel has a functional display and a simple, intuitive keypad interface that is glove-friendly. The URC-300 is interoperable with its predecessor the URC-200™(V2) radio and many of its accessories.

Safariland 7TS Series Holsters for Red Dot Optics Now Available for SIG SAUER Handguns

Thursday, October 8th, 2020

ONTARIO, California – Safariland®, a brand of The Safariland Group, today announced its popular 7TS™ RDS models, specifically designed to fit and protect handguns with red dot optics and rail-mounted lights, are now available for SIG SAUER handguns. These new fits are offered in duty, tactical and concealment models and are available for the SIG SAUER P320RX, X-Five/Full Size/V-TAC/M17, M18/X-Carry and X-Compact.

“Red dot optics have become a reliable way to speed up target acquisition,” said James Dawson, duty gear category director for Safariland. “We’ve seen a surge in demand for our current 7TS RDS holsters and are pleased to add the SIG options to the line-up. These new models will open up options for SIG owners.”

Safariland builds its 7TS RDS holsters from SafariSeven™, a proprietary DuPont nylon blend. SafariSeven allows for precision manufacturing and retains exceptional durability, even in temperature extremes. These holsters perform reliably and are practically impervious to the elements. 7TS holsters require little maintenance and are easy to keep looking good. Best of all, SafariSeven is completely non-abrasive and won’t add wear to firearm finishes.

Unlike most red dot holsters, 7TS RDS models are equipped with ALS® locking retention and protection for the optic. The protective hood that shields the red dot optic pivots automatically when the user releases the ALS retention lever via the thumb as they draw. When the user reholsters, the handgun is automatically secured in the holster and the user can then rotate the protective hood back into place, covering the red dot.

These new 7TS RDS model variations are currently available:
– Duty: 7360RDS, 7362RDS, 7365RDS, 7390RDS, 7392RDS, 7395RDS
– Tactical: 7304RDS, 7305RDS, 7354RDS, 7355RDS, 7384RDS, 7385RDS
– Concealment: 7367RDS, 7376RDS, 7377RDS, 7378RDS, 7379RDS

Each of the new holsters are equipped for the SIG SAUER Romeo1 and Romeo1Pro, Vortex Viper or Venom, Trijicon RMR, Trijicon SRO, Dr. Optic, Leupold Deltapoint Pro, or Burris Fastfire. In addition, holster fits are available to accommodate the Streamlight TLR-7, Surefire XC-1, XC-2, Nightstick TCM 550, or Inforce APLc.

Andy Stumpf Officially Becomes Blackhawk’s New Brand Ambassador

Thursday, October 8th, 2020

Virginia Beach, Virginia – October 8, 2020 – Decorated Navy SEAL, podcast host, and BASE jump record-holder Andy Stumpf is excited to announce that he is Blackhawk’s newest brand ambassador. He’ll also star in the next episode of Blackhawk’s new film series No Fail, in which Blackhawk tells the story of elite men and women and how their own No Fail Mission shaped them to become the people they are today.

In his 17 years in the United States military, Stumpf executed missions around the globe, fighting the war on terror as a member of some of the most elite combat units in the world, including SEAL Team 6. Today, Stump hosts the hit Cleared Hot podcast and is a frequent guest on the Joe Rogan Experience. He’s also an elite skydiver and has held a BASE jump world record for traveling more than 18 miles in a single wingsuit flight. He also commands a following of more than 162,000 Instagram followers.

“I view brand partnerships as an extension of who I am, and I am always looking to partner with brands that fit not only my lifestyle but my philosophy on life,” Stumpf explained. “I search for relationships that are meaningful, thoughtful, and most importantly, purposeful, just like the gear that Blackhawk designs and produces.”

The new No Fail film, due to be released later this month, was shot on location in Montana, and features Andy discussing his own inspiring No Fail insights.

“I am actually not a fan of ‘my story,’ but I do believe in passing on knowledge and honoring those that came before you,” Stumpf said. “My career was successful due to the time, energy, and effort that others put into my training and education, and their careers were successful due to the same efforts from generations prior. I feel obligated to continue passing the knowledge from one generation to another. My story is a microscopic part of a much larger story, but I hope that it can be told, and that the telling helps others.”

Stumpf explained that with their emphasis on top-quality gear and cutting-edge design and technology, partnering with Blackhawk was a natural fit.

“In 2005 I was stationed at a military command that essentially had no budget restraints. We could purchase the highest quality equipment, regardless of cost, with performance as the gold standard and metric. The night that I was shot I was wearing a Blackhawk belt, and I still have it to this day. I was wearing it because it did the job better than any other belt, because it was designed with the end-user in mind, it was designed with a purpose. Coming full circle years later seems like the perfect end to the story, and I can’t think of a better brand that parallels my philosophies.”

For Blackhawk, it’s Stumpf’s emphasis on excellence that makes him such an important partner.

“When I initially heard Andy’s story, I knew that he would be the perfect addition to the Blackhawk team. His story is an excellent example of the importance of having quality gear when it comes to saving your life and he reminds us why quality gear is a non-negotiable,” Blackhawk’s Brand Manager Kendell Palmquist said. “Outside of that, we wanted to work with Andy because he is someone that people look up to, he is well respected in the industry, and he is genuinely a nice guy and a good person.”
