DroneShield Announces R&D and Manufacturing Capacity Expansion

Tuesday, July 15th, 2025
  • DroneShield is committing to invest $13 million in a significant R&D and manufacturing capacity expansion
  • New dedicated 3,000sqm of own production space (3x the floorspace of the current production facility)
  • Addition of 2,500sqm to the R&D area in its headquarters, for engineering and lab space
  • Together with planned expansions to its Australian contract manufacturing, and plans to set up contract manufacturing in Europe and the US, the current $500 million annual manufacturing capacity is estimated to expand to $2.4 billion, by the end of 2026
  • The expansion in Australia is concurrent with DroneShield’s European and US manufacturing initiatives, against the backdrop of record global demand

DroneShield Limited (ASX:DRO) is pleased to announce it is making a more than $13 million initial investment via a multi-year lease and fitout commitment into a brand new 3,000sqm production facility in Sydney’s Alexandria, with expected opening in December 2025. This is in addition to 2,500sqm of R&D area in its headquarters, expanding its own annual production capacity to $900 million by mid-2026 and a combined total annual manufacturing capacity to $2.4 billion by the end of 2026, as it targets a $2.34 billion and rapidly growing global sales pipeline including in Europe, its fastest-growing export market.

The $13 million amount refers to 5 years of initial lease commitment as well as the fit-out cost for its expanded R&D area, and the new production facility. As DroneShield engages with third party supply chain, substantially Australian, there is no requirement for heavy machinery and similar capital expenditure investment.

The new facility, including advanced in-house production, testing and warehousing capabilities is DroneShield’s largest to date and more than three times the size of its current production assembly floor near central Sydney. The existing production assembly floor will be converted into an additional R&D area for the Company, resulting in a 5,530sqm total R&D area.

It comes on the heels of DroneShield announcing it has received a $61.6 million European contract in June, the biggest single order in DroneShield’s history, followed shortly by a $9.7 million Latin American contract and an $11.7 million Five-Eyes R&D contract. In line with the broader increase in military spending across the EU region, DroneShield has also announced its significant expansion into Europe, where it is planning to establish a European Centre of Excellence, including manufacturing and production facility, to support the continent’s domestic defence programs such as the EUR800bn ReArm Europe Plan / Readiness 2030.

“In response to rising threats and multiple wars taking place across the globe, Australia’s allies are increasing investment in modern defence capabilities,” said Oleg Vornik, CEO, DroneShield.

“We are stepping up to meet this demand by investing in state-of-the-art facilities here and abroad, and in sovereign Australian skills development to provide the most modern and effective counter-drone capabilities in the world. Our new facility in Alexandria will epitomise the value Australian engineering can bring to a changing geopolitical landscape.”

In 2024, exports accounted for 91 per cent of DroneShield’s existing facilities, proving them a vital example of the broader manufacturing capabilities Australia can deliver as part of its Future Made in Australia (FMIA) plan.

The changing landscape and rising threats have increased younger generations’ interest in working in Australia’s defence industry, according to Vornik.

“Interest in working in defence had been declining over decades of peace,” he said. “But we are seeing a rise in national pride as tyrants attempt to change the world order, and that’s translating to an uptick in younger staff seeking opportunities and adding real and timely value to Australia’s defence efforts.”

Galvion Receives Further Follow-on Batlskin Caiman Order of 5000 Helmets, for the Canadian Dismounted Infantry Capability Enhancement (DICE) Programme

Tuesday, July 15th, 2025

Galvion, a world leader in innovative head protection systems and power and data management solutions, has received a second follow-on order from the Department of National Defence (DND) Canada for its flagship Batlskin Caiman® ballistic helmet systems. This latest order for an additional 5000 helmets with two (2) helmet covers each, is expected to deliver in early 2026.

The original Canadian Dismounted Infantry Capability Enhancement (DICE) programme contract was awarded in February 2023 for 2,100 helmets and 4,200 helmet covers. In July 2024, year two of a five-year framework contract, the DND exercised an option to order an additional 8,400 helmets and 16,800 helmet covers taking the total Canadian DICE order to 10,500 helmets and 21,000 covers, all successfully delivered. With this latest follow-on order, the DICE totals now total over 15,000 helmets and 30,000 covers, all ordered within three years of the five-year framework.

Developed over a number of years with extensive SOF community collaboration and feedback and now fielded in the hundreds of thousands across multiple NATO countries, Galvion’s Caiman® helmet system delivers unmatched levels of weight and comfort, and is expressly designed to incorporate electronics, communications headsets, and other critical equipment needs, now and into the future. The helmet is equipped with Galvion’s premiere APEX lining system, an intuitively adjustable design that enables a customized fit for users.

The helmet systems assessed for DICE were trialled by members of the Canadian Light Infantry Battalion at the end of 2022. Conducted under operational conditions, the trials included the integration of equipment such as eyewear, night vision goggles, gas masks, hearing protection, and cold-weather gear. The Caiman helmet received the highest rating by a significant margin and was selected after a phased bid process.

Todd Stirtzinger, CEO at Galvion said: “We are exceedingly proud to receive another significant order from the Canadian DND for their DICE programme. Repeat orders like this demonstrate partner confidence and end-user satisfaction, both of which are core drivers for everything that we do at Galvion.” He added: “We are seeing significant increases in demand across all of our head system platforms, with the Caiman helmet seeing far and wide adoption beyond the SOF community, as evidenced by this DICE contract but also the continued receipt of orders from NATO countries through our NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) framework contract. We have more good news on that side to be announced soon. This activity, alongside other notable successes, has triggered some major investment and expansion activity, which is best showcased by our recent European Production Hub opening ceremony, in Poland.”

Lindnerhof Introduces New Modular Load-Carriage System

Monday, July 14th, 2025

LENGGRIES, GERMANY (11.07.2025)

Lindnerhof, a Mehler Systems brand, expands its load-carriage solutions with a new generation of mission-configurable backpack pouches and accessories. Purpose-built for operational versatility, high durability, and seamless integration with plate carriers, the range supports military, law enforcement, and tactical users in the most demanding environments.

The M800 (Small) and M810 (Large) modular backpackpouches are designed as adaptable storage units that can be mounted directly to Lindnerhof plate carriers or configured as standalone backpacks using modular components. Both models feature a fully opening clamshell design with a reverse zipper and a quick-pulllace system for rapid access. Inside, loop panels andpartial MOLLE/PALS rows allow for customized organization. A dedicated hydration compartment with protected exit port supports cable or tube routing, whilea drainage grommet ensures water and debris do not accumulate. A removable reinforcement plate offersstructural stability, and side and top loops allow for additional mounting options such as helmet stowage. The pouches are available individually or as completes est (M800_S1 / M810_S1), which include the M820 modular shoulder straps and LT835 adapter set. These configurations offer three distinct carry options: fixed to a plate carrier, integrated as a rear-mounted extension, or carried independently as a compact backpack. The pouches are suited for carrying medical gear, hydration systems, electronics, or other mission-critical loadouts—whether integrated into a full kit or used standalone.

To support internal organisation, Lindnerhof introduces the Multi-Pouch Small (M830) and Multi-Pouch Large (M831), designed to fit seamlessly into the M800 and M810 or other loop-lined compartments. Both models feature a hook-and-loop back surface for secure placement, a loop-covered interior for modular inserts, and a mesh lid for visibility. The full zip-around design enables complete opening, while a side handle allows quick removal or transfer. The exterior loop panel allows for colour marking or patching. These pouches are ideal for structured storage of medical supplies, tools, or electronics within confined loadout systems.

The M820 Modular Backpack Straps allow operators to convert the M800 or M810 into a lightweight backpack. Featuring padded, breathable mesh shoulder sections and made from multiaxial laminate (MX), the straps provide a balance of comfort and stability. They are fully adjustable and include camouflage-matched webbing, making them a practical solution when extended wear without full carriers is required.

To complement this setup, the LT835 Adapter Set allows fast and secure mounting of M800 or M810 pouches directly onto Lindnerhof plate carriers. The set includes snap-on repair buckles, waist and shoulder straps, and integrated attachment loops. Its low-profile design ensures minimal interference with movement or gear access. This modular capability is ideal for field conditions where rapid reconfiguration of loadouts maybe necessary.

With this newly launched modular lineup, Lindnerhof reinforces its focus on practical, field-proven gear engineered to meet real-world demands. For further details, visit lindnerhof-taktik.de.
