Shield Arms Folding Lower Receiver

Monday, October 29th, 2018

Introducing the world’s first folding AR-15 lower receiver – no adapter required.

Bigfork, MT, October 29, 2018 – Shield Arms

The Shield Arms Folding Lower Receiver (FLR) is a patent-pending billet lower receiver with a folding stock mechanism machined and built directly into the receiver, allowing the stock or pistol brace to fold without the need of an aftermarket folding stock adapter. No installation. No tools. Just open the box, fold, and go.

The Shield Arms FLR is precision-machined from 7075 billet aluminum and is designed and manufactured in the U.S. The FLR ships as a stripped lower receiver with included buffer. The folding stock mechanism is preinstalled and accepts any standard aftermarket buffer tube. To complete the lower receiver, simply use a standard lower parts kit, and customize the Shield Arms FLR to your preference.

Additionally, the Shield Arms FLR uses a standard bolt carrier group and does not modify the carrier in any way, nor does it require any additional parts to function properly. As an added advantage, due to the folding mechanism being machined directly into the receiver, the overall length of the lower receiver is increased by only 5/8”, less than half the length of some popular aftermarket adapters.

The Shield Arms Folding Lower Receiver will be available for order soon in 9mm with an MSRP of $399.99. Additionally, Shield Arms will be licensing the FLR to other manufacturers – interested parties should contact licensing@shieldarms.com.

Shield Arms SA-9

MyDefence Demonstrates Drone Swarm Counter UAS Jammer

Friday, October 26th, 2018

Fredensborg, Denmark, October 23, 2018 – On October 12, MyDefence co-hosted the event Electric Storm to demonstrate the capability of the latest MyDefence Counter UAS products for dismounted soldiers. The event featured a live demonstration of the detection and jamming capabilities of the WINGMAN 103 drone detector and the PITBULL Counter UAS jammer.

Last month, DeDrone announced the capability to detect drone swarms, and assuming the same conditions, MyDefence is now announcing drone swarm jamming capability, which was demonstrated at Electric Storm. During the event, five drone operators attempted to execute a coordinated drone attack. The coordinated attack was effectively neutralized using the MyDefence PITBULL Counter UAS jammer, and all drone operators lost control of their drones.

“Drone swarms are a concern in the military domain and it has been a priority for us to provide an effective solution to combat multiple drones for both dismounted soldiers and in fixed installations. With the WINGMAN and PITBULL setup, we have demonstrated just that, and the system will be able to defeat countless drones simultaneously,” says Christian Steinø, CEO of MyDefence.

Product Features:
• The only wearable Counter UAS jammer on the market
• Ultra-light form factor with a weight of only 775 grams (w/o battery)
• Up to 20 hours standby battery time and 2 hours of continuous jamming
• Both automated and manual jamming modes
• Jamming range of 1,000 meters1
• Average power output is 2W
• Software is programmable

1)E.g. on DJI Phantom 4 at a 1,250m distance to the drone operator (amounting to a jamming range of 80%)

The PITBULL Counter UAS jammer is the ideal solution for dismounted soldiers operating in hostile environments, where enemy forces utilize commercially available drones for reconnaissance and as weapon delivery systems.

The device is wearable and weighs only 775 grams. Used in conjunction with the WINGMAN drone detector, the PITBULL can automatically jam drone signals, when a drone is detected. This reduces the cognitive load of the operator, allowing the soldier to focus on the mission, without worrying about enemy drones.

Rheinmetall Mission Master dominates European ground robotic systems competition at ELROB 2018

Thursday, October 25th, 2018

At the end of September, and for the first time, Rheinmetall took part in ELROB with its unmanned multi-mission “Mission Master” vehicle. At Europe’s largest exhibition for military ground robotics, Rheinmetall’s Mission Master team entered the fray, taking on a number of competing teams. Made by Rheinmetall Canada, the cargo version of this versatile vehicle turned in a particularly compelling performance in the “Mule” category.

In all, six teams took part in this competition category. Mules are essentially automated pack animals – autonomous transport vehicles capable of carrying heavy loads and equipment. They had to handle two scenarios. The teams each had thirty minutes to cover a 1,400 m-long route with their mule. During the first run, Rheinmetall impressed the crowd with an impressive performance. Then, following the second, came the gratifying result; despite competing for the first time, the Rheinmetall Mission Master clearly dominated the contest, scoring 3,151 points, twice as many as the robotic vehicle that took second place (1,547 points), and way ahead of the one that came in third (167 points).

The Mission Master: modular, adaptable, flexible – a combat effectiveness multiplier for soldier systems

The cargo version of the Mission Master was exhibited to a large group of defence specialists for the first time at Eurosatory 2018. Rheinmetall developed this variant to reduce the combat load carried by troops in the field, contributing to faster movement and greater operational efficiency. Rheinmetall’s new robotic vehicle can operate in hazardous, difficult-to-reach terrain, in turn contributing to the survivability and protection of troops deployed in harm’s way.

Moreover, the Mission Master can be networked with advanced soldier systems such as Future Soldier – Expanded System, Gladius 2.0 or Argus. In Rheinmetall’s “System Infanterie”, the Mission Master serves as a force multiplier for infantry sections or squads equipped with Rheinmetall’s Future Soldier – Expanded System technology. Fully networked with dismounted combat troops, it not only takes a weight not only off the soldiers’ shoulders, it also relieves the pressure on military leaders.

Characterized by extreme flexibility, the Rheinmetall Mission Master can be quickly configured for a multitude of different missions thanks to modular, easy-to-install build-ons. Its mission capabilities include logistics, surveillance, force protection, evacuation of wounded personnel, firefighting and CBRN reconnaissance. It can also serve as a radio relay station. Speed, scalable autonomy and proven mobility in all types of terrain make the Mission Master a strong and dependable comrade for small combat units.
