Griffin Armament Announces The BUSHWHACKER 46 Universal Sound Suppressor

Tuesday, January 14th, 2020

Watertown, WI, January 14, 2020 — After fourteen years of dedicated professional work and development in the sound suppressor market, Griffin Armament is proud to introduce the Bushwhacker® 46, a universal sound suppressor designed to maximize feature functionality, performance, and value with a vast selection of caliber compatibility.

The Bushwhacker’s durable 1.375×24 threaded 17-4 stainless steel tube chassis, is supplied with a Griffin Plan-A Taper Mount adapter, Taper Mount muzzle device, and a booster piston housing. These factory inclusions allow the Bushwhacker to quickly and easily be configured for centerfire rifle or handgun use. Its .46 caliber diameter provides end users with the most caliber flexibility possible, while retaining quality sound suppression. .450 Bushmaster, .458 socom, .45-70 Govt, and other large bore calibers are at home with the Bushwhacker 46. Additionally, .30 caliber Paladin blast shield front cap can be interfaced with the Bushwhacker 46 further improving sound performance on the Paladin with 30 caliber and lesser rounds like .308 Win, .300 BLK, and 6.5 Creedmoor.

Sound suppressors can increase in weight and reduce in internal volume, losing performance over time from carbon and copper accumulation. The Bushwhacker features Griffin Armament’s unique, patented Ratchet-lok end cap which provides the user with a robust mechanism to disassemble their suppressor easily for periodic cleaning and maintenance. This consumer demanded technology and the included tools ensure that your investment can be reset to factory weight and sound performance specifications with minor preventative maintenance.

The Bushwhacker 46 also features Griffin’s patented High Efficiency, Dual Purpose baffle technology. HEDP baffles are engineered to provide balanced sound performance on a host of popular calibers and firearms. The bushwhacker’s 6AL4V Titanium HEDP baffles provide impressive sound performance measuring 141dB with full power .450 Bushmaster, 126dB with .300 blackout subsonic, and 130dB with .45 ACP. The 17-4 Stainless tube, front cap and Titanium baffle stack give put the Bushwhacker at 16.3 ounces in its Rifle configuration and 18.1 ounces in a pistol configuration.

Additional accessory support allows the Bushwhacker to be mounted to a myriad of hosts via the 3-lug QD kit, Plan-A XL, or the 1.375×24 A2 adapter. A specialty mount was also designed and manufactured for mounting the Bushwhacker to an unmodified 1928a1 Thompson via the Cutts Compensator.

Performance, Durability, and Versatility are hallmarks of the Griffin Armament brand. These qualities are embodied in the Bushwhacker® 46 and will ensure this universal sound suppressor remains a highly demanded product for years to come.

About the ASA:

The American Suppressor Association is spearheading the fight to legalize and deregulate suppressors, and are the front line defense against the anti-suppressor factions that want them banned! Over the past eight years, ASA has actively lobbied in 30 states, fought to ease the archaic restrictions on suppressors in D.C., testified in front of dozens of legislative bodies, hosted countless suppressor demonstrations for legislators, media, and the public, and funded research proving the efficacy of suppressors. As a result of our work, Iowa, Minnesota, and Vermont legalized suppressor ownership, and 18 new states have legalized the use of suppressors while hunting, proposed ATF regulations on suppressor manufacturers were stopped, CLEO sign-offs were removed from all transfers, and transfer times are again beginning to drop.

Virginia – ASA Will Fight For Your Suppressor Rights

Monday, November 11th, 2019

On Tuesday, November 5th, Democrats took control of both chambers of the Virginia General Assembly. Following Governor Northam’s anti-gun special session in July, one thing is now abundantly clear:

With anti-gunners in control of all three branches of government, the right to own suppressors in Virginia is in jeopardy.

On July 8th, Delegate Mark Levine (D-45) introduced House Bill 4021, which seeks to ban and confiscate all 60,000+ lawfully obtained suppressors in Virginia. The American Suppressor Association was on hand in Richmond to oppose the bill during the special session and testified in opposition to the Virginia State Crime Commission on August 20th. Unfortunately, when the legislature reconvenes in January, we anticipate Delegate Levine’s misguided attempt to ban and confiscate these hearing safety devices to be among the anti-gun priorities that are quickly ushered through the legislature and signed into law.

“In my eight years fighting for suppressors, I’ve never faced a threat this serious,” said Knox Williams, President and Executive Director of the American Suppressor Association. “The American Suppressor Association believes owning a suppressor is a right, not a privilege, and we will fight tooth and nail for that right. Plain and simple, suppressors are a tool that help protect hearing. They are not the nefarious devices that anti-gunners want you to believe they are. Banning them won’t make Virginia safer; in fact, it will make shooting more dangerous for the tens of thousands of law-abiding Virginians who use suppressors to protect themselves from preventable hearing damage.”

The American Suppressor Association is spearheading the fight to defend your right to own suppressors in Virginia. However, we will not win this attack on your Second Amendment rights alone. Our opposition is well organized and incredibly well funded. To counter their campaign, we need your help now more than ever.

We are calling on suppressor owners everywhere to make your voice heard by joining or making a donation to ASA today! Do so now through December 2nd, and you’ll be automatically entered to win one of 12 prizes worth more than $15,000. Your membership makes our voice stronger and provides the funding that allows us to stay active and engaged in this essential fight! Visit CansNotBans.com for details and to enter.

SilencerCo – Omega 36M

Monday, November 11th, 2019

Earlier this year we had an opportunity to check out the new Omega 36M suppressor from SilencerCo. Modular in design, it will serve as an excellent suppressor for those who want to use it with multiple firearms and in multiple configurations.

The Omega 36M is a two-piece modular design with a fully welded rear core and a fully welded front module. The core construction consists of Cobalt 6 and Inconel which provides extreme wear resistance under high heat and heavy fire. The titanium outer tube combined with the lock-ring prevents tube loosening and reduces weight. The 36M has a 1.57” outside diameter and can be configured in 5.1″ – 7.6″ length. The 36M is finished with a black Cerakote for a heightened level of durability.

The Omega 36M is rated down to 10” barrels for 223 Remington/5.56mm NATO, 16” barrels for 308 Winchester/7.62mm NATO, and 20” barrels for 300 Win Mag and 338 Lapua Mag.

The Omega 36M ships with the Charlie ASR mount. This model is compatible with all SilencerCo Charlie style mounting systems. The updated Charlie front cap allows for tool-less removal and the rear Charlie mounting system provides better mount to suppressor retention.

Here you can see the length and weight of the 36M across its various configurations.

The Omega 36M will be available early December with a $1,187.00 MSRP.

Dallas SWAT Selects LWRCI IC-A5 Surefire, Aimpoint, B.E. Meyers For Their New Rifle System

Saturday, November 9th, 2019

Elite Tactical Unit fields first completely new weapons and components upgrade in departments’ history.

Cambridge, MD (November 8, 2019) –  LWRC International, the leader in piston driven carbines and rifles, is honored to have been chosen, and fielded as the duty carbine for the Dallas, Texas SWAT Team.

In an official statement released today- ” The Dallas Texas Police Department SWAT team has selected and fielded the LWRCI IC-A5 carbine. The entire carbine setup was the first time in the departments history to obtain factory new weapon and components, identified, tested and selected by its team members, and delivered as a complete kit.”

Dallas SWAT Team members conducted long and rigorous testing on each component from several companies over a nearly 2 year review process. At the end of that process they chose the LWRCI IC-A5 Individual Carbine in a 10.5″ barrel configuration as its issued carbine for their elite tactical unit.

The IC-A5 is built on the patented LWRCI short-stroke gas piston system that offers unparalleled reliability and easy maintenance. Dual Control fully ambidextrous lower receiver includes bolt catch and release, magazine release and fire control access from both sides of the IC-A5 make it a versatile option for any operator. A low profile 2 position adjustable gas block allows the operator to compensate for running a suppressor.

Key accessory components were also included in the testing process. Dallas SWAT chose the Aimpoint CompM5 red dot as their primary sighting system, a Surefire SOCOM Mini II suppressor, the Surefire M622 Ultra SCOUT Light and the MAWL-DA visible / IR laser aiming and illumination device from B.E. Meyers to complete the package.

The team members who tested and chose the system issued this statement to those who made this possible.  “Thank you to the citizens of Dallas who donated the funds to the Team foundation that ultimately paid for the purchase. This outstanding rifle package was entirely privately-funded and donated to our Dallas SWAT officers. We cannot thank those outstanding civic leaders and their associations enough for their enthusiasm to support us and make this rifle a possibility.”

“At this time, we are going leave these special donors remain anonymous, but you know who you are.” They also wished to express their gratitude to the Fort Worth SWAT team who had suggested the LWRCI rifle and components that they had tested and selected two years prior. Thanks as well to DSG Arms, an Authorized LWRCI Law Enforcement Distributor who won the procurement contract and managed the logistics to assemble the kit as delivered.”

Upon receipt of the carbines, Dallas SWAT went through several weeks of new equipment familiarization and training, contracted and provided by Victory First and the manufacturers to increase proficiency with the new technology and benefits of the components. After several long training cycles and qualifications, Dallas SWAT began their operational deployments with new equipment.

New Silencer for the Active Retention Tactical Market Segment

Griffin Armament is proud to introduce the 30SD-K to the GATE-LOK™ product line, a .30 caliber silencer with size and weight specs similar to traditional full size 5.56 NATO suppressors. This new product development stemmed from Griffin’s devotion to its customers and end users who have been requesting a shorter, .30 caliber GATE-LOK™ variant for some time. The 30SD-K was engineered specifically for semi and full auto applications and features Griffin Armament’s patented HEDP baffle technology which optimizes flow and achieves properly balanced blowback and muzzle performance. Signature reduction is not exclusive to sound performance as the 30SD-K also features Griffin’s patented low profile, integrated 3-prong flash hider end cap which further reduces flash signature versus tradition designs.

Austin Green, Griffin Armament’s Founder and Lead Engineer offered this comment when discussing the 30SD-K and the GATE-LOK™ product line:

“I originally developed the GATE-LOK™ interface after encountering shortcomings in other designs that interfaced with NATO style muzzle devices. The goal was for a simple, robust, active retention mount that didn’t incorporate any wear prone geometry, had minimal POI shift, and could be mounted easily with one hand. I believe we have absolutely achieved that with the GATE-LOK™interface. And now with the 30SD-K, Griffin Armament end users have the versatility of a high performance .30 caliber silencer with the size and weight similar to that of a traditional 5.56 can. “

30SD-K Features:
• 17-4 PH Stainless Steel construction
• Hi-Temp Cerakote finish
• 5/8×24 GATE-LOK™ Muzzle Brake included
• Patented HEDP™ baffle stack
• Low profile 3-Prong Flash Hider End Cap
• Compatible with all M4SD and 30SD mounts
• $945 MSRP

30SD-K Specs:
• 6.6” Length
• 17.8oz
• 127dB SPL with .300BLK (Subsonic)
• 136dB SPL with 5.56 NATO
• 138dB SPL with .308WIN
