Kecskemét International Air Show: Rheinmetall showcases state-of-the-art systems for today’s armed forces

Saturday, August 28th, 2021

This year, from 28 to 29 August, the Hungarian armed forces are hosting the International Air Show at Kecskemét air force base for the first time since 2013. It centres on the ongoing modernization of the Hungarian military. As one of Hungary’s most important partners, Rheinmetall will be on hand at the event to tell about its current projects and products. These include:

• The Lynx KF41 family of fighting vehicles: Hungary is the first NATO and EU member state to select Rheinmetall’s newly developed infantry fighting vehicle. A total of 218 Lynx systems have been ordered, most of which will be built in Hungary. The Lynx infantry fighting vehicle combines high mobility and lethality, modularity, survivability, networkability and future viability, making it a true standout.

• The StrikeShield active protection system. StrikeShield is the third and newest generation of Rheinmetall’s Active Defence System (ADS) technology, a special variant of a hard-kill APS system. The ADS is a distributed system in which the sensors and countermeasures are integrated into the contours and architecture of the entre vehicle. Among other advantages, the lowest emissions in the electromagnetic spectrum as well as the fastest, most secure and most reliable reaction times in ambush and multiple hit scenarios set the StrikeShield apart from the competition. The Hungarian military has selected StrikeShield for its fleet of Lynx IFVs.

• The HX 8×8 heavy load transporter: Made by Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV), the HX 8×8 semi trailer tractor is powered by an eight-cylinder, 680 HP diesel engine. This gives the high-mobility, all-wheel-drive truck a top speed of 89 km/h and lets it handle gradients of 60 percent. The technically permissible gross train weight comes to around 130 tonnes. A military-off-the-shelf series of products, RMMV’s HX vehicle family is designed for maximum mobility even in the most difficult conditions. Over 15,000 of these vehicles are in service worldwide.

• Air defence: High-mobility ground-based air defence systems are gaining new importance now that NATO armed forces are once again focusing on national and alliance defence. Rheinmetall’s Skyranger systems, armed with 35mm or 30mm automatic cannon as well as other effectors, can be mounted on wheeled or tracked armoured vehicles like the Boxer or Lynx.

• The Mission Master family: Robotics is already changing the face of the modern battlefield. Designed to serve as a weapons platform, Rheinmetall’s unmanned Mission Master SP (Silent Partner) vehicle is already being evaluated by various armed forces around the globe. As recently as June 2021, Rheinmetall unveiled a new member of its Mission Master family – the Mission Master XT. Specially engineered to operate in extreme terrain and to carry heavy loads, the new AUGV will be on view for the first time at a tradeshow in Europe.

In digitizing the modern military, Rheinmetall sets exceptionally high standards, drawing on its expertise as a maker of soldier systems, sensors, effectors as well as its networking and C4I system capabilities. Here, the Düsseldorf-based high-tech specialist for security and mobility continues to extend its lead in the soldier systems field with solutions like the Gladius 2.0.

In the training and simulation domain, too, Rheinmetall is a global leader, making a crucial contribution to enhancing the effectiveness and readiness of modern armed forces and law enforcement agencies.  Information on this as well as weapon and ammunition systems for scalable, threat-commensurate firepower and innovative, networkable sensors for applications on land, at sea and in the air round out the array of capabilities on display.  We look forward to seeing you at the Kecskemét International Air Show!

NRAAM Canceled

Tuesday, August 24th, 2021

The upcoming National Rifle Association Annual Meeting on Houston, scheduled for the Labor Day weekend has been canceled according to the NRA.

Press release follows:

FAIRFAX, Va.  – Due to concern over the safety of our NRA family and community, we regret to inform you that we have decided to cancel the 2021 Annual Meeting & Exhibits. This cancellation applies to all events and meetings that were scheduled in Houston. We will provide future notification regarding a rescheduled date for the annual Meeting of Members.

We make this difficult decision after analyzing relevant data regarding COVID-19 in Harris County, Texas. We also consulted with medical professionals, local officials, major sponsors & exhibitors, and many NRA members before arriving at this decision. The NRA Annual Meeting welcomes tens of thousands of people, and involves many events, meetings, and social gatherings. Among the highlights of our annual meeting are acres of exhibit space featuring the latest and greatest firearms, the display of countless accessories, and the offering of adventures and group gatherings that many travel hundreds, and some even thousands, of miles to experience. We realize that it would prove difficult, if not impossible, to offer the full guest experience that our NRA members deserve.

The NRA’s top priority is ensuring the health and well-being of our members, staff, sponsors, and supporters.  We are mindful that NRA Annual Meeting patrons will return home to family, friends and co-workers from all over the country, so any impacts from the virus could have broader implications. Those are among the reasons why we decided to cancel our 2021 event.

We would like to thank our members, attendees, exhibitors, and staff for their understanding and support. We are grateful for the many contributions of the George R. Brown Convention Center, state and local officials, community organizers, area hotels, and countless event venues across Houston. We receive enormous support from Houston and the State of Texas – and we hope to return to the Bayou City for a full annual meeting experience.

The NRA looks forward to a Celebration of Freedom in Louisville in May 2022. In the meantime, we will support many other NRA local events and smaller gatherings – in a manner that is protective of our members and celebrates our Second Amendment freedom.

We wish continued health and safety to our entire NRA family.

SilencerCo Invites Hunters To Visit Their Booth at Buckmasters Expo

Wednesday, August 18th, 2021

August 13, 2021 — West Valley City, UT — SilencerCo will be attending the Buckmasters Expo on August 20, 2021 – August 22, 2021 in Montgomery, Alabama. The show is geared specifically toward deer hunters, and SilencerCo plans to feature their hunting-specific silencers at booth numbers 289 and 290.

Silencers are an important tool for hunters to maintain stealth, reduce recoil and muzzle signature and protect themselves from hearing damage. SilencerCo offers a wide range of suppressors that meet the specific needs of hunters, with the most popular being the Harvester 300, the Omega 300 and the Omega 36M. These products will be featured at their Buckmasters Expo booth.

The Harvester 300, like its name describes, is a purpose-built suppressor designed with the hunter in mind. It is rated up to .300 WIN, but will accommodate all of the most commonly used hunting calibers between .223 REM and .300 WIN. It’s 17-4 heat-treated, stainless baffles and aluminum tubing make it lightweight, yet strong enough for all hunting needs.

For hunters looking for a heavy-duty use suppressor, the Omega 300 and Omega 36M are slightly heavier than the Harvester, but do offer more versatility. Both the Omega 300 and Omega 36M are world-class suppressors commonly used for both recreational and tactical shooting. The Omega 36M is the most adaptable suppressor currently available, allowing for short and long lengths and accommodating calibers ranging from .22 Hornet up to .338 LM.

“Come by booth 289 and see us!  We look forward to discussing the benefits of hunting suppressed with you,” said hunting enthusiast and SilencerCo Marketing Manager, Brooklee Grant.

Purple Orange Media Event

Wednesday, August 18th, 2021

The evening before Outdoor Retailer Summer Market kicked off, PR company Purple Orange held a private media event at a local venue for the various brands the represent*.

It was very well attended and I didn’t get to speak with every company there because the lines were too long. So instead, I’m going to mention just a few brands and products.

Sea to Summit

Sea to Summit makes some great lightweight camping gear with welcome news that we’ll start to see more subdued colors as they begin to push into the hunting market. Their Stretch-Loc TPU straps are 12mm wide come in multiple lengths from 300mm to 750mm. The straps function like a belt with a bit of inherent stretch so you can crank down a bit for a snug fit. They are offered in Grey, Black and Yellow.

BioLite

The big new from BioLite is that they are introducing the Basecharge 600 and 1500. They incorporate ISB ports and DC sockets. The Basecharge can be recharged via shore power or solar panel.?

SomeWear Labs

SomeWear Pabs was the most interesting conversation I had at this event and it’s not just because they had heard of SSD. The company which specializes in satellite data services via this puck which connects your end user device to the web. It weighs just 4 oz and has been approved for DoD use with ATAK.

Gnarly Sports Nutrition

Fuel2O is like a powdered version of the gummies so many endurance athletes use so that the nutrients can be drunk while rehydrating. You’ll also get dextrose and sucrose (100 cal per 12 oz) as well as HMB (280 mg).
