Capable Citizen – U-Loop SOB B-Sling

Tuesday, February 14th, 2017

Capable Citizen LLC was founded in 2016 as a collaboration between a number of individuals with backgrounds in law enforcement, wilderness survival, product development and tactical and competitive shooting. Their flagship product is the U-Loop SOB B-Sling which was developed by SGM John McPhee (USA, Ret) aka the Sheriff of Baghdad.

The U-Loop version of the B-Sling (a Capable Citizen exclusive) came about as a response to the current trend in rifle handguards.

With 1913 Picatinny rails being replaced with cleaner, lighter, smaller handguards featuring newer interfaces like M-LOK and KeyMod, sling attachments have been slow to keep up. Instead of adding mounts to these cleaner, slimmer handguards, they decided to use the excellent Blue Force Gear U-Loop to allow you to directly and securely mount your sling anywhere on the rail you like.

This mounting method eliminates the cost, weight, and bulk of dedicated sling mount attachments commonly necessary for most slings. The U-Loop is also compatible with almost any sling mounting location for most rifles in use today. This aspect may be especially helpful to contractors who have to work with whatever weapons they are provided and may not know in advance what accessories will be supported.

The versatility of this mount allows you to attach the sling virtually anywhere along most handguards, without having to purchase or move any special mounting hardware to do so.

By locating the adjustment mechanism at the front of the sling in a fixed position, the release mechanism never ends up behind the user’s field of view and remains in a consistent location. This eliminates the need to look or feel around for a release in order to get the sling loose enough to shoot with, it’s always up front on the gun close to a support hand firing position, for predictable, fast access and greater economy of motion.

The slings total weight with the included Combat Band is 2.3 oz. It is available in Black, MultiCam Black, MultiCam, Ranger Green, and Coyote.

Other exclusive products include their tailor made wilderness survival tin, and a yet to be released covert handcuff key holder (expected late Spring 2017).

As a thank you to Soldier Systems followers, the first (100) orders to use Coupon Code “SSD” will get a free Capable Citizen Thin Blue Line US Flag sticker with any purchase made.

SHOT Show 17 – Lancer Systems Carbon Fiber Handguard & X-Cinch For SIG MPX

Friday, January 27th, 2017

MCX handguard

Lancer’s new MCX handguard is the only alternative to the OEM option. M-LOK compatibility allows for added accessory choices. Lancer’s MCX handguard, constructed from lightweight and reliable carbon composite, boasts suppressor compatibility, with around a 40% weight reduction as compared to the competition. Due to the use of composites, as with other Lancer handguards, such as their MPX handguard alternative, this handguard has a much lower rate of thermal conductivity. This allows for safer handling, as the handguard stays cooler.

• Available in 10.5”, 12“, and 18” lengths?• M-LOK compatible slots at 12, 3, 6, and 9 O’clock, as well as 45 deg offset faces?• Turn-key replacement for OEM handguard (no additional tools or parts needed) • Around 40% lighter than the OEM handguard?• Allows for use over suppressors with an OD less than 1.8”?• 1.5″ top rail included, or an upgrade to 3″ (all), or 4.5″ (12 & 18”) is available

Lancer Systems’ goal with their MCX handguard design is to provide recreational and professional shooters with a product that aids their performance, with apparent quality. Dean DeTurk, a sponsored competitive shooter said, “the light weight and durability of the carbon fiber, and the adaptability and cooling properties of the (design) provides me with a comfortable and quick handling rifle that enables me to compete at the highest level.”

MPX X-Cinch

A convenient, molded cinch enabling the user to double their on-weapon capacity and quicken reload time. Made from durable reinforced nylon and engineered to engage with locking ribs, this X-Cinch reflects the quality you’ve come to expect from a Lancer product.

• For use with 10/20-round and 30-round magazines?• Tool-less, thumbscrew assembly?• Locking ribs designed to mate with magazine texture to provide a secure fit

The goal of the cinch was to create a handy way to double the MPX’s capacity. This could be useful for both recreational and professional applications. Marine Infantry veteran Sean Burke commented, “this (X-Cinch) is useful because sometimes you don’t have the ability to carry additional magazines on your person, and the cinch provides security forces, or other individuals, the ability to decisively respond to threats with only the ammunition immediately available, on the weapon.”

Frank Proctor On His Y Notch Sights

Wednesday, January 25th, 2017

“This picture is pretty close to what a shooter sees when shooting my Y Notch sights. I designed them for improved accuracy with less room for error and maximum speed. They have been working pretty good for me and I’m just a barely average shooter with not much experience.”

SHOT Show 17 – Badger Ordnance

Tuesday, January 24th, 2017

Badger Ordnance continues to innovate in mounting solutions.

Badger Ordnance has several new offerings coming for the first quarter of 2017. First off is their new line of bipod mounts and bipod kits. This line started 2 years ago when an employee with Badger Ordnance made a low profile mount for his Harris bipod to direct attach to his AR-10. Based off his experiences instructing Snipers he’d seen and experienced several Harris mounting plates break or come loose when shooting off barricades.

The new Badger Ordnance Low Profile Harris Mount is designed to replace the current mounting plate and thumbscrew for Harris Engineering swivel style bipods. Made to have a slimmer profile than traditional bipod mounting options while having a much more robust interface to allow barricade braced shooting without fear of breaking the attachment system. Easily retrofit any Harris BRM-S bipod in just a few short minutes. Made from 7075 T6 Aluminum and Type lll Hard Coat Anodized for a lifetime of flawless function. Available for Magpul M-LOK, Picatinny, and Remington RACS style handguards.

Badger Ordnance has also worked alongside Harris to design an exclusive bipod with the leg extension buttons placed on the inside to avoid accidental extension when bracing the bipods against barricades. The mounts can be bought separately as a retrofit for current Harris designs or bought as a package with the new bipod legs.

Also new from Badger is a line of accessories to work in conjunction with their S.L.I.C.K. and other spotting scope integration kits. The Badger K4 and K5 mounts are made to hold any 4000 or 5000 series Kestrel weather meter to the 3 or 9 o’clock position of a picatinny rail. The Kestrel simply snaps in and is held firmly until needed. Made from 2200 series Polyamide and colored Light coyote.

Lastly Badger has released the SPF-60 Spotter Protective Filter- 60 mm Designed to work with the Leupold 12-40X60 Spotting scope (M151) and the Badger Ordnance SLICK spotting scope mount (P/N 306-94). Provides rugged protection to the objective lens as well as allowing reduced light transmission and reducing glare via the variable aperture “Catseye” feature. Cover indexes out of the way for full light transmission or for NV/Thermal integrationPic. Made from 6061 Aluminum, Type lll Milspec Hard coat anodized.

IMG_4362 - Copy

Tektite’s Mag-Pump is a magazine loader for STANAG M4/AR-15 magazines, capable of loading both .223/5.56 and .300 BLK rounds. The hopper holds up to 60 rounds at a time, and the internal mechanism of the loader auto orients the rounds as they’re loaded so they go correctly into the magazine. Additionally, the Mag-Pump is quick to take down, and easily fits into a .50 cal ammo can for storage and transport.

Redback One / Knight’s Armament Co – Aimpoint High Mount

Sunday, January 22nd, 2017

Here’s a sneak peak of Red Back One’s new high mount for the Aimpoint Micro, designed and developed by Jason Falla and manufactured by Knight’s Armament Company.

This is a list of features that drove the somewhat unique design of this mount:

1. It is ideal for maintaining a more natural head up shooting position which maximizes speed of sight acquisition and minimizes the effects of eye strain and sternocleidomastoid fatigue.
2. It allows increased performance when using CBRNE equipment and gas masks with the ability to adopt a natural cheek weld for shooting.
3. It is perfect when integrating passive targeting methods with night vision goggles when operating on modern battlefields.
4. It weighs significantly less when of other optics mounting systems due to its design and materials.
5. It will accept a magnifier or NVD behind the combat optic for longer range shooting and scanning.
6. Unlike legacy systems RBO’s mount will allow the end user to utilize the BUIS as a redundant system without the need to remove the mount.

SHOT Show – Grey Ghost Gear

Friday, January 20th, 2017

The Super Dave GT Sling from Grey Ghost Gear is wicked light at 2.2 oz. It’s also swoopy, what with the laser cut holes to cut the air while you bring your gun to bear. Additionally, they’ve incorporated Velcro in order to accept nametags or your favorite moral patch.

Available now in Blaxk and Coyote. Also available without the aerodynamic laser cut holes for you squares who don’t want to look cool. In case you can’t tell, I like the version with the holes.
