Darley Defense Days – Omni-Wool Socks

June 8th, 2017

Omni-Wool Socks are made from Merino wool which comes from a herd in Montana, making them Berry compliant. It also means they offer all of the advantages of Merino: wicking, inherent FR, anti-microbial.

Although they offer a wide range of socks, the boot models are available in light, medium and heavy.  The heavy sock was initially intended for use in cold weather environments but some users have adopted them for hot weather due to their thick nap.  The socks are engineered from top to bottom to fit the shape of the foot, ankle and calf.  For instance, they’ve integrated a non binding top and calf relief feature so the sock stays up, but doesn’t constrict.

Interested parties should contact Darley Defense.

Propper Donates Portion of Memorial Day Week Proceeds to USO of Missouri

June 8th, 2017

St. Charles, MO — Missouri-based Propper International teamed up with the USO of Missouri to donate a portion of online sales totaling $7,452 in honor of Memorial Day and to further the USO’s mission to “strengthen America’s military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country, throughout their service to the nation.”

“Propper has supported our fighting men and women for 50 years,” said John Negrau, VP, Marketing & eCommerce for Propper. “Our military heritage is a perfect complement to the USO’s mission and purpose. It made sense that we should honor our fallen troops by supporting current active duty personnel.”

“We are a Missouri-based company,” Negrau continued, “so donating to the USO of Missouri was a logical choice.”

Each state’s USO branches operate independently and rely on local support. “The USO is not a government organization and does not receive government funding,” said Christine Trotter, Development Director for USO of Missouri. “Instead, we count on companies and private individuals to help support our operations. Propper’s overwhelming generosity has been incredible.”

Chambered in 375 Cheytac, the Gunwerks HAMR is the next step in the evolution of extreme long range. The new Gunwerks HAMR launches a 377gr projectile with an incredible .950 G1 ballistic coefficient at nearly 3,000fps. With these phenomenal ballistics, the HAMR boasts a capable range of over 2 miles.

The HAMR is a special edition, single-run rifle that we have developed to make some of the longest shots imaginable. This means once we sell out of these bad boys, they’re gone for good. The rifle comes standard topped with a Nightforce ATACR F1 7-35×56 scope, Elite Iron bipod, fully adjustable, tactical folding chassis, and aggressive muzzle brake to dramatically tame recoil. This rifle is surprisingly enjoyable to shoot.

As with all Gunwerks rifles, the HAMR comes ready to go right out of the box.

Fifty Years Ago: The USS Liberty

June 8th, 2017

USS_Liberty

SIGINT is, and has always been, a quietly dangerous business for the collectors.

On 8 June 1967, during the Six Day War, Israeli Mystere and Mirage aircraft along with torpedo boats attacked the USS Liberty (AGTR-5) which was conducting intelligence collection missions in Eastern Mediterranean.

33 US military personnel and one NSA civilian were killed and 171 were injured. The Liberty, a converted WWII “Victory Ship”, was so badly damaged that it was scrapped after being limped to a drydock in Malta.

Rather than dwell on the political aspects, let us remember the sacrifice of men in an unglamorous but critical job.
