Gunfighter Moment – Jeff Gonzales

December 20th, 2014

Do you ever get that feeling someone is paying way too much attention to you. Did you ever think you may be drawing that attention because of some poor choices for your method and behavior while carrying concealed.

We run a boatload of students through our Concealed Carry Tactics class and one thing we always get them to do is a “peer review”. This is where they walk the line looking over each other’s method of carry. Some are better than others, but having someone give you a once over is worth it big time. There is a mutual benefit through the feedback, honest feedback. Then the other person becomes more familiar with common mistakes and what they look like for real.

There are so many things people do that give away the fact they are carrying concealed, but the most obvious is when the gun actually is recognizable through the clothing. You really only see this one with poor selection in clothing options, mainly too tight or too light in nature. However, another method of printing is through what we call a “uniform”. While you may not actually be standing their in your dress blues, you fit the profile. Traveling overseas taught me a lot about this and in some parts of the world I absolutely did not want to be associated with my fellow Americans. Just about every single one of them looked like they stepped out of an REI catalogue. It was actually a bit funny when you stopped to look at it and while working on vulnerability studies it was something I would look for on the bad guy side, so it makes sense we do the same thing.

While we may not be walking around in little clusters of catalog models, I still see a lot of people making poor choices of clothing. So, while yes you want to conceal the weapon well, you also don’t want to draw attention to how you conceal the weapon. A year in the life.

HOT BACON ALERT!!! The massively popular Full Dexterity Tactical (FDT) Alpha Touch gloves from Patrol Incident Gear (PIG) are now available in a brand new color, Carbon Grey.

The PIG FDT Alpha Touch gloves were originally developed by a Rogers Shooting School advanced graduate and are currently worn by competition shooters, sport hunters and special forces units around the globe. Two years in the making, the gloves introduced many ground-breaking industry firsts including; a sensitized and isolated trigger finger with the thinnest Clarino material available, knuckle flex joints with ventilation points, a single layer multi-piece palm for added tactile dexterity and touch-screen compatible threading in the thumb and index fingertips.

PIG developed the Carbon Grey color choice specifically for the significant number of customers who require a monotone glove option for urban environments. The tonal shade of Carbon Grey was chosen based on its compatibility with other industry grey color options, like the Arc’teryx Urban Wolf. The PIG FDT Alpha Touch gloves are also available in their original color options; black, coyote and ranger green.

HTC to Launch IWB Holster at SHOT Show

December 19th, 2014

High Threat Concealment has expanded on their existing line of concealment systems, and developed a dedicated line of “Inside-The-Waistband” holsters and mag carriers. The IWB line of holsters adds a higher level of concealment to the HTC lineup that is second to none. The IWB holsters still incorporate the same adjustable tension feature as their outside-the-waistband line of holsters, and they have different options for attachment hardware to give the end-user more flexibility in how they wear their holsters. The user can decide on different options for how they want to carry their holster, such as appendix carry, the strong side, or further back above the wallet. Soon to be released are the IWB line of mag holders. Our IWB mag holders will allow the user to carry an additional mag holder in reserve, without sacrificing the level of concealment they gained with the IWB holster. The IWB mag holder is an ambidextrous, universal design, with custom adjustable tension. It comes with an adjustable soft loop with the durable pull-the-dot fastener to secure the mag in place.

When concealment is a necessity and your life depends on it, there is no other name to trust.

Be sure to stop by the Renegade Armor booth (# 8103) at SHOT Show, and see this new exciting line, as well as the other new releases HTC will be debuting!
