SOFIC 2014 – CORE Survival’s New HEL-STAR F2

The new HEL-STAR F2 is a indent iffy friend or foe light system. Based on the footprint of the HEL-STAR 6 strobe, it consists of a field programmable strobe light and User Feedback Module Buzzer Pad. The UFM is attached by a removable cable to the strobe and when the strobe is interrogated by an IR laser, the UFM buzzes giving a silent, yet tactile alert. That let’s you know that friendlies are in the area. In testing, the system has detected IR Lasers at 800m. The UFM can be placed anywhere in the helmet for comfort.

SOFIC 2014 – OTTO

OTTO has introduced a new, lightweight headset that integrates a special version of SureFire’s ear protection mated to a proprietary talk through system. The Situational Awareness mode requires no batteries and is available in single or dual comm variants. The Hurricane SureFire headset also incorporates a high noise canceling microphone. The headset can also be adapted to virtually any military or civilian radio via patch cables and fits comfortable with the ACH/MICH helmet.

SOFIC 2014 – BRP Specialized Vehicle Group : SEA-DOO

The SEA-DOO SAR is a search and rescue watercraft. BRP Specialized Vehicle Group has added an inflatable sponson, integrated a liquid cooling system, added rhino lining to the bottom and placed a stainless shroud around the prop. It’s also the only personal watercraft with a brake. It’s stays right on station until you move it. They’ve also placed nav lights on the SAR to further enhance its utility.

They’ve really beefed the SAR up from a standard GTI 155 and even dropped it from 15′ with no damage.

SOFIC 2014 – Source One Distributors

SOFIC 2014 – SIG MCX

SIG showed me a couple of variants of their MCX range of carbines. Offered in 5.56, .300 and 7.62×39, the MCX is moving into production.

The Low Viz Assault Weapon above features a 6.75″ barrel in .300. Notice the folding stock which offers a very slim profile when folded.

This shot gives you a view of the right side of the weapon. The short suppressor shown offers above 5 db more than an MP5SD but in .300 at the same overall package size of the MP5SD. It also features a adjustable gas system but the subsonic ammo setting can run supersonic ammo but it will affect service life of the weapon.

Additionally, SIG offers an adapter plate for Standard AR lowers that integrates a Picatinny Rail that allows the user to swap out folding and collapsible stocks.
