DSEI 17 – Eagle Industries Ergo Performance System

Wednesday, September 13th, 2017

The Ergo Performance System is designed to fit any armor carrier system. Essentially, it offers standoff between you and the carrier and mitigates some of the energy from the weight of the carrier when moving around.

IMG_3981

When fitted inside the rear of the carrier, it disapates heat, increasing air flow/ventilation by 50%, decreasing heat under back panel of the carrier by 12-16o F, and lowers abrasion points.

The Ergo Performance System is made from 500D Nylon, Dri-Lex and Squadron Laminate. It weighs 1.15 lbs and is offered in Black, Coyote and MultiCam. Part number EA-HA-CLL.

Warrior East 2017 – Eagle Industries ULV Tactical

Friday, July 14th, 2017

This is the Ultra Lightweight Vest – Tactical which is an evolutionary development of the US Army’s ULV.

IMG_2998

Eagle added an adjustable cummerbund which is reinforced with laminate, laser cut with the same design as the shoulder straps. There’s also an optional elastic strap for times when you don’t need a full cummerbund. Additionally, the interior of the vest is made from 4-way stretch Tweave material and the shoulder straps are padded with Tweave. There are four sizes for the ULV Tactical but thanks to the Tweave, the panels will accommodate a variety of plates thicknesses. At the rear are #5 zips which will accept Eagle back panels. You’ll also notice a drag handle.

IMG_3007

Another change from the baseline model is that the ULV Tactical will accept the removable front flaps from the Aero.

IMG_3005

As a complimentary piece, Eagle introduced a Ultra Lightweight Chest Rig which is made from laminate and weighs 11 oz. Without the shoulder straps it’s just 7 oz. It also accepts the Aero’s front flaps.

IMG_3006

The Chest Rig has dual AN/PRC-152 radio pouches on the interior and the rig can be attached via side release buckles directly to the ULV Tactical.

Offered in Black, Coyote, Ranger Green, Grey and MultiCam.

Eagle Industries – Jungle Body Armor Vest in Grey

Wednesday, March 29th, 2017

I spied this Grey variant of Eagle Industries’ Jungle Body Armor Vest at Enforce Tac earlier this month in Germany.

IMG_0042

It’s made from a laser cut, hydrophobic material and fits SAPi, ESAPI, SPEAR/BALCS and Swimmer Cut front and rear plates along with MBAV cut sift armor inserts as well as positive Bouyancy flotation inserts, all in sizes Small – XLarge.

IMG_0043

When you get up close to the Vest, the material looks like suede. At the front and rear are Velcro strips for attachment of ID. Inside, there are removable ventilation pads. The skeletal cummerbund is PALS compatible, both inside and out. The cummerbund retention flap is removable, incorporates mag pouches and is also PALs compatible at the front. Additionally, there are quick attachment points for chest rigs. At the shoulders are hydration/comms loops. At the rear, an integral drag handle.

Who Remembers The Eagle Industries Chest Pouch SF30 AK

Thursday, February 16th, 2017

The SF30AK from Eagle Industries was the second chest rig I owned. While stationed in Germany I had purchased a Arktis 42 Pattern Chest Rig. It was very lightweight and served me well but I was always checking out new kit.

Later, while stationed at Ft Bragg, I purchased the SF30AK chest rig, via mail order from Eagle Industries. I chose the OD version because that’s what gear was made from at the time and wouldn’t stick out quite as much as another color. I used it a bit during training but its only operational use was for a time during Operation Restore Democracy in Haiti. When we first went in, we wore RBA, making it a good choice to wear over the armor vest, but later in the deployment, I just wore a JS Industries Predator Vest with a Camelbak in the back slot or an issue ETLBV. Vests you could just slip on while outside the compound, were easier to don and doff than a chest rig.

Mine is long gone, but even years later, I still like the design for its innovation and carrying capacity. The pockets would accept up to 12 magazines and the GP pockets would take canteens or other gear. What’s more the ammo pouches featured Eagle’s silent closure which required a downward pull on the webbing tab to release or attach the flap.

At the rear, there were two male portions of 1″ side release buckles which would allow the attachment of the assault pack from the field pack, large internal frame. However, most everyone cut them off because they would dig in if you wore a pack. The Vest in the photos is later production and has Coyote buckles. Back in the day, they were Black.

Features:
-Four magazine pouches that carry three M4/ M16 or two AK47 magazines each.
-Two large side utility pouches with slotted webbing for “ALICE” clips to hang extra gear.
-Two extra pockets behind the utility pouches.
-One full length inside pocket.
-The back of CP-SF-30AK is padded and uses CoolMax mesh for ventilation and comfort.
-Drop loops will attach to the Eagle Duty Belt or military web belt.
-All closures and fasteners use Mil. Spec. hardware.
-Made in the USA

Unfortunately, they are no longer available.

Did anyone else use this chest rig?
