Triangle Capital Corporation Invests $14.8M in Magpul

According to a press release, Triangle Capital Corporation (TCAP) announced that it closed a $14.8 million investment in Magpul Industries Corporation consisting of subordinated debt and equity.

This is interesting considering Magpul has had a fair number of suitors over the years, although generally, they have been interested in outright purchasing them rather than investing capital. Rumors have swirled about Magpul’s desire to make another foray into firearms design and perhaps this capital is going to be used to help them do just that.

Magpul Releases New Grips

There are two new additions to the Magpul Original Equipment (MOE) line, the MOE+ Grip and MOE-K Grip.

The MOE+ Grip was first debuted some time back and it’s great to see it hit the market. It combines reinforced polymer body overmolded with rubber for weapon retention even when wet. It offers a similar shape to a ‘medium’ sized MIAD, and accepts optional storage cores for gear stowage and includes a basic grip cap. Available in Black.

The MOE-K is intended for use with PDWs (Personal Defense Weapon). It is a low profile, compact design with a steeper grip angle than traditional grips. Offered in Black, Flat Dark Earth, Foliage, and OD Green.

Magpul Releases iPhone 4 Fieldcase

If you an iPhone 4 user and a reader of SSD, then you are most likely aware that Magpul had previously released an Executive Field Case for the phone. As stylish as it might be, this case lacked the grip enhancing PMAG-style ribs found on the Field Case for the iPhone 3. This new version has rectified this and has incorporated them into the design.

Battle Ready PMAG

STAT International has been offered the exclusive distribution rights to the Battle Ready PMAG (BRP). It is a modified PMAG with a stippling process. Stippling is a heat treatment texture given to plastic/polymer which in this case, will enhance the shooter’s grip on the magazine. GPI Custom Gunworks developed the process used on these PMAGs which can consistently treat 60 per hour.

As you can see, the BRP is made from a non-window 30 round PMAG. New BRPs can be purchased for $20.00 or you can send yours in to be treated for $5.00 per magazine plus shipping. EMAGs are next.

Magpul Sponsors US “Breslau Adventure Rallye” Team

Magpul has sponsored the first and only US team to ever enter the grueling Breslau Rallye. The Breslau Rallye takes place the 25th of June through the 2nd of July and goes from Breslau, Poland to Dresden, Germany in what is known as the biggest off-road race in Europe.

After four months of building in secret, â€œBam Bamâ€, the Rallye Mog has landed safely via air freight in Europe.

Bam Bam was built by Jay Couch of Couch Off Road Engineering, (the guy responsible for the Magpul MBUS Mog build) and started life as a standard Mercedes Benz 1985 U1700 Unimog. They added a USA Cummings 24 valve turbo diesel as the powerplant. According the Magpul, “The power is turned up so much that the custom intercooler is the size of a small bed!”

Magpul went on the describe the build in even greater detail. “Stock axles were swapped out, exo-cage was added, quadruple bypass reservoir shocks installed, secondary radiator and a full drivetrain pressurization system was added to put light air pressure to the axels, transmission and transfer case. Even the engine starter was pneumatically plumbed to prevent water from entering.”

For The Ladies: Magpul T-shirts

Magpul has just released the Calico Jack t-shirt, the first in a series of designs specifically for the ladies. The front features a distressed Calico Jack emblem in Gray and the back features in small blood red type a paraphrase of what Calico Jack’s mistress said to him just before he went to the gallows, “Fight like a man, so you do not have to die like a dog”. Available in any color as long as it’s Black in Small – X-large.
