The CSAT Weapon Light Glass Assault Tool is a very specialized piece of kit, to be sure. Designed by US Army SOF Veteran MSG Paul Howe (USA, Ret), it is essentially a glass breaker attached to the business end of your weapon. Although they also exist for rifle barrels, this model fits to a SureFire X300 weapon light. This means, it’s an integral part of your pistol and an extension of your arms.
There is also a version for the X300 U-boat with its wider bezel as well as the popular Streamlight TLR.
Before I get any experts informing me that this won’t work on the new vehicle window safety glass; got it. That glass is so new that few vehicles have it and aside from movie badguys, you don’t run across many that are rolling in a high end 2015 ride. Generally, shitbirds drive crappy cars.
Columbia, SC, February 22, 2014 – Panteao Productions introduces a new DVD on home defense called “Make Ready with Paul Howe: Home Defense”.

Today marks the 20th Anniversary of the Oct 3rd Raid during which elements of TF Ranger, deployed to Mogadishu, Somalia conducted an operation on that city’s Olympic Hotel in order to capture key leaders of the Aidid Militia.
Unfortunately, during the exfil portion of the raid a battle ensued that claimed the lives of 18 Americans and wounded another 73. Additionally, CW3 Michael Durant was captured by the militia. Fortunately, Durant was later repatriated and went on to retire from the 160th.
For those of you unfamiliar, one of the best accounts of the battle is contained in the book, “Blackhawk Down” by author Mark Bowden. Much of the information was serialized prior to the book’s publication in the Philadelphia Enquirer. Later this was made into a movie bearing the same name.
If you want to here more from a man that was there in the thick of it, pick up a copy of Panteao Productions‘ “Battle of the Black Sea” featuring MSG Paul Howe (USA, Ret).
Please take a moment to remember these men and their sacrifice.
Columbia, SC, August 28, 2013 – Responding to an active shooter scenario up till recently has been looked upon as only something law enforcement personnel would do. But often the first responder to an active shooter is the civilian that happened to be at the right place at the right time. Being able to respond sooner to an active shooter can save lives. In this video Paul Howe will prepare you for that.
Paul is a high-risk training instructor that served 20 years in the US Army, ten of those in Special Operations. He served as a Tactical Team Leader and Senior Instructor while assigned to Army Special Operations. During his tour in special operations he was involved in several combat actions. One of the most notable was the battle of Mogadishu that was later portrayed in the motion picture Black Hawk Down.
In this video, Paul takes you step-by-step through the mindset of an active shooter situation. He reviews gear you need like bags, holsters, and lights. The best choices for a weapon platform and medical supplies. Then Paul takes you through exterior contact, room CQB, hallways, hallway intersections, linking up with others, shooting through glass, and more. An active shooter event is a fact of life. Now you can be prepared.

The other day I noticed a commercial on the Military Channel for an upcoming special entitled, “Delta Force: Tier 1” airing July 16th at 10:00PM (EST). From the commercial it looks like SGM Kyle Lamb (USA, Ret) was interviewed and I have been told that footage from the excellent Panteao Press documentary, “Battle of the Black Sea” featuring MSG Paul Howe (USA, Ret) was used for this special.

Wilson Combat builds some great guns, so I was very pleased to hear that they would be building a new signature carbine for Paul Howe. More specifically, MSG Paul Howe (USA, Ret), is a special operations veteran and served in the Battle of the Black Sea in Mogadishu, Somalia. Now, he runs CSAT, a well respected training company.
The Howe carbine is offered only in 5.56mm as a stand alone or a more complete package that includes Paul’s preferred optic, the LeupoldVX-6 1-6×24 Firedot along with a VCAS and Streamlight.
Right off the bat, you’ll notice the paint job. Wilson applies a Camouflage Armor-Tuff finish. They claim that this hand applied finish reduces the carbine’s IR signature and helps keep the rifle cooler.
It incorporates a two-stage Wilson Combat TTU with heavier springs for a 4.5 pound trigger release. The Howe Tactical Carbine includes a Daniel Defense fixed front sight tower paired with his CSAT rear aperture flip up. Additionally, it relies on a Wilson peerless, match grade, 5.56 chambered stainless steel 14.7” barrel with deep lightening flutes and a permanently attached Accu-Tac flash hider for a 16″ overall length.
“Were I to have the choice of only one gun, this is the gun it would be. I could do short, intermediate and long range work with this one rifle. It is like having one golf club to play the entire course”
– Paul Howe
