Hazard 4 had several new items on display including the Smuggler, a padded rifle sling bag. Designed to take up to AK sized rifles, it will easily accept SBRs as well as broken down carbines. There are plenty of accessory pockets and the carrying strap can be tucked out of the way.

Coming later this year.

SHOT Show – Al Mar Knives

Friday, January 18th, 2013

I wanted to take you on a little trip back in time and show you the knife that made Al Mar Knives as a tactical knife brand back in the 80s. Founder Al Mar was a Special Forces Veteran from Viet Nam and created the SERE Folder as a folding variant of the SERE Operator which was designed with input from the famed COL Nick Rowe who suffered 5 years of captivity by the Viet Cong and was assassinated by the New People’s Army in 1989 in the Philippines.

The current SERE Folder features a 3.6″ VG-10 steel blade that has been heat treated and incorporates a liner that has also been heat treated and would make a better blade than many other knife blades.

The knife incorporates a reversible deep carry pocket clip. It also features a flow through design to keep debris from fouling the mechanism. It’s offered in 3 handle covers; UCP, OD and Black with satin or black blades. Also available in a Mini SERE 2000 model with a 3″ blade.

I’d say that this is the knife that started the whole tactical folder craze. If you haven’t checked out Al Mar Knives lately, I suggest you take a look.

SHOT Show – Centurion Arms

Friday, January 18th, 2013

20130118-101358.jpg

Centurion Arms has introduced a new rail for 7.62 guns. It is a round modular fire arm that incorporates a full length Picatinny rail along the top. It utilizes a proprietary nut to attach, leaving a free float barrel. In addition to positions that accept rail sections where you want them, the rail also features QD sling attachment points at the barrel and receiver ends of the fore end. This first run is for the DPMS system but look for Stoner- style system compatability soon. Also a slightly scaled down version for the 5.56 is in the works.

Centurion also offers their own attachment for the SureFire Scout Light. It is reversible and mounts directly to the rail. In fact, you don’t require a Picatinny rail section to attach most accessories. And they are working toward eliminating redundant, unneeded 1913 rail segments wherever possible.
