FalCom – Advanced Communications
TEA and GN have developed an in-ear advanced communication system, called FalCom, based off three main factors: comfort, clarity, and protection. If the system is comfortable, the user is less likely to not wear his or her hearing protection. Once again, if the incoming audio is clear and concise while maintaining his or her situational awareness and simultaneously protecting their hearing, they are less likely to not wear the system. When Servicemembers deployed during combat operations after 9-11, the only thing available was either foam ear plugs or old analog ear muff style headsets. Since very few outside of SOCOM even had hearing protection or limited access to it, Servicemembers went without hearing protection in order to survive. This prompted the development of the FalCom system for current, future SOCOM and DoD programs.

Situational Awareness and 3-D Audio

Another key feature of the FalCom system is its 3-D (Programmable 4D-Q3) audio spacial awareness feature. This allows the user to hear incoming audio from different directions in the ear buds. Therefore, instead of receiving audio from left-right or both sides the user will be able to hear sounds coming from left rear, right rear or the front. This greatly enhances the user’s ability to easily distinguish a higher priority channel over a lower priority channel.

Plug and Play Beyond Today

Together, all these features combine to make the new FalCom an easy to use, “Plug and Play” system providing unmatched comfort, situational awareness, and hearing protection. On today’s asymmetric battlefield, the old adage, shoot-move-and communicate is more important than ever. The ability to hear clear and concise radio communications is critical therefore industry-leading hearing protection is a force multiplier greatly enhancing the potential for mission success and more importantly increasing the protection of our greatest asset, those who serve the nation.

GEN 2 INVISIO X5 PR Banner

October 13h, 2014 – Brewster, New York – TEA Headsets will introduce the next generation of the INVISIO® X5 dual in-ear bone conduction headset at AUSA in Washington on October 13th. TEA Headsets/INVISIO will be at Booth 7935.

GEN2 X5 w-SS's

As in-ear headsets continue to gain major traction and market share, many of the changes found in the new X5 zero in on accommodating even more ear shapes/sizes and comfort.

The next generation INVISIO® X5 is 12% smaller than the current X5. The earpiece’s new contoured shape provides a more ergonomic fit. Also different is the Soft SpringTM (retention spring), which is now integrated into the earpiece housing. To ensure comfort and security the headset now includes 3 different sizes/lengths of Soft Springs, Long/Medium/Short.

Color-Coded Comply Tips-REV1014

In addition to more Soft Springs the X5 accommodates 6 different sizes of Comply Foam tips to provide the best level of hearing protection and fit possible.

G2 X5-NL

The entire cable assembly has also been ruggedized. The lower part of the cable has an increased cable diameter and strain relief and the upper part of the assembly has also been beefed up for added durability. Even with the increase in cable size the X5 still achieves a high level of user comfort and feels lightweight when donned.

Also new is an integrated clip for cable management that secures the headset to the user’s tactical vest as well as a more tactile tension adjustment slider that makes it easier to adjust when wearing gloves.

From a performance standpoint the new INVISIO X5 performance remains the same, offering industry leading hearing protection 29NRR/32SNR, audio quality and situational awareness in a small and comfortable in-ear wearing style.

The new INVISIO® X5 is now in full production with evaluation samples available in December and volume deliveries will be in early Q1 of 2015. The headset will be offered for all of the INVISIO® control units.

INVISIO Bone Conduction Technology:

The extensively fielded and combat proven INVISIO X5 is a dual in-ear headset that provides hearing protection and enhanced electronic hear-thru that utilizes patented INVISIO Bone Conduction Microphone Technology. This technology captures speech directly from the inner ear via vibrations off the jawbone and provides ultimate speech clarity in high noise or combat applications.

Communication is possible underneath gas masks/HAZMAT suites and sound can be picked up even at a whisper!

TEA will be featuring their new COM-CHECK STATION their AUSA Booth this year.

TEA Headsets Sees Overall Growth Of In-Ear Headset Market Share With The Expansion Of TCAPS Program

Tuesday, February 4th, 2014

Back in 2000, TEA introduced a completely new type of tactical headset, the INVISIO® in-ear headset, which uses a patented in-ear bone conduction microphone. Special Operations Forces and SWAT Teams quickly adopted this exciting new in-ear headset technology for certain applications, but the trade off at the time was that these in-ear headsets didn’t provide hearing protection or electronic hear-through.

Soon after releasing the INVISIO® headset line TEA was awarded the MICH MARITIME program. This program was a break through in the communications industry because it was the first universal push-to-talk solution with modular cable down leads. TEA’s solution provided Special Operations Teams within the US Navy and US Marine Corps the ability to interface with an extremely broad range of radios and intercom systems. Because of the need to have hearing protection and electronic hear-thru programs like MICH MARITIME and the tactical headset market in general continued to be dominated with over-the-ear style headsets.

X50Web

It wasn’t until 2008 that TEA released the INVISIO® X50 system, which closed the gap between in-ear bone conduction headsets and over-the-ear headsets with hearing protection and electronic hear-thru. For the next five years the tactical headset market share steadily began to shift away from traditional over-the-ear headsets to sleeker and smaller in-ear versions.

In 2013, TEA was awarded the Tactical Communication and Protective System (TCAPS) program for their INVISIO® X50 system.

The TCAPS X50 System consists of 2 main products. The INVISIO® X5 dual in-ear communication headset, which provides certified hearing protection and enhanced electronic hear-thru and the INVISIO® X50, which is a push-to-talk/control unit that interfaces with the new NETT Warrior radios/devices as well ground vehicle and aircraft intercom systems via modular radio cables.

The primary objective of the TCAPS program is to ensure all soldiers have the highest level of hearing protection and communications on the battlefield. As this program continues to expand into more brigades TEA also sees the rapid growth of in-ear headsets in to overall tactical headset market.

TEA Capabilities:
Outside of TCAPS, TEA continues to make major advancements in their interface capabilities with the new dual and multi-talk group radios as well as portable smart devices. They also offer a full line of advanced communication headset systems such as their INVISIO® V60 system, which also includes the INVISIO® X5 dual in-ear headset. TEA offers a no obligation 30-day evaluation program for qualified military and law enforcement teams/units to try out their products. “Hear for yourself” the difference in quality of TEA headsets!
