Rocky S2V in BAMS

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

The Rocky S2V has been quite a hit with the Air Force. So much so that a steel-toed version featuring a Gore-tex and Thinsulate lining will be included in the Air Force’s BAMS kit as the only boot. The Battlefield Airman Management System is a program begun by former Chief of Staff of the Air Force Gen Jumper to commoditize the purchase of Soldier Systems gear for Airmen from the Combat Control, Combat Rescue, Tactical Air Control and Combat Weather careerfields.

Rocky S2V in USAF Sage Green

I’ve been wearing a pair for about a year and they are comfortable as well as durable. The jungle-style boot is packed with features which include Super Fabric insteps for fast roping and climbing, high walled soles, flame and water resistant uppers, and antimicrobial treatment. The Berry Compliant S2V is available in sizes 4-15 in Tan, Sage, and Black from Rocky Boots.

Laptop Lifts

Many of you deploy with personal laptops or use an issue computer for admin or other C4ISR duties. Deployed life is dirty and hot no matter how often you dust or how well the AC is running and chances are good your laptop’s performance will suffer. One way to combat this is to create an airgap between your computer and the table or desktop. Laptop Lifts are “feet” for your laptop. They are large soft rubber strips that attach to the bottom of any laptop with a heat resistant adhesive strip. No only do they provide room for air to flow but also are non-slip so your laptop stays put.

And to think I just used water bottle caps to give my laptop a little airflow. Not exactly an ideal solution. So you can do it cheaper, but Laptop Lifts are purpose built.

Magna-Matic CRT-15

I completely overlooked this gem at SHOT Show. The CRT-15 Carbon Removal Tool from Magna-Matic Corp is an innovative bolt cleaning tool for the AR-15 family of weapons. Specifically, it is designed to get at the hard to clean surfaces of the bolt carrier and the bolt tail (of any radius dimension). Made in the USA, the CRT-15 is compact (5.4 inch long) and light (3.2 oz). Its hardened steel precision construction for long lasting quality, and 100% corrosion resistance is great in the field.

For more information visit Magna-Matic Corp. The CRT-15 is available in March from Tactical Response Gear.
