US DOJ Moves to Reverse Guilty Pleas of Remaining 3 of “Shot Show 22”

Tuesday, March 27th, 2012

Just one month ago the Federal Prosecutors filed petitions with the court to drop charges against the so-called “SHOT Show 22” who were arrested in a production reminiscent of reality TV during the 2010 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were charged with conspiring to violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, violating the FCPA and conspiring to launder money, based on dealings with an informant and an undercover FBI agent posing as the Minister of Defense of Gabon. Three of the 22 defendants plead guilty and are said to have cooperated with prosecutors. But then, after a series of mistrials and thrown out evidence the Government recently dropped the charges against the remaining 19 accused leaving the three who plead guilty in limbo.

Today, DOJ petitioned the court to reverse the guilty pleas of Jonathan Spiller, Haim Geri and Daniel Alvirez. Good thing for them the Government is being a good sport about this and all.

Tuesday, March 27th, 2012

It’s amazing how far our Army has come over the past 10 years. Our Soldiers are the best equipped and most lethal in the world and it’s partially due to the hard work of the civilian workforce who have applied their skills and expertise to support the fight. This video from PEO Soldier is a great look at what they bring to the table and how they have improved the Army’s war fighting capability.

Glockworx Optic Cut Slides Available from Brownells

Tuesday, March 27th, 2012

Mounting mini red dot sights on pistols (GLOCKs in particular) has become very popular. Generally, you have to send your slide into a trusted gunsmith to do the cutout and mounting pin work.

Brownells has worked with Glockworx to stock a line of precut slides for the GLOCK 17. Variants are available for the Doctor (also accommodates Burris FastFire), JPoint, RMR as well as a model for standard iron sights. Regardless of sighting system, all versions of the slide feature front and rear cocking serrations, lowered ejection port, and porting above the front slide serrations. The slides are CNC cut aircraft grade 1704, heat treated stainless steel RC44-46 in a Black DLC coating.

Benchmade Updates Website

Tuesday, March 27th, 2012

Benchmade Knives has launched a new website with an updated look and feel. They’ve also added a new search function that should help you zoom right in on what you are looking for. Also, for those of you unfamiliar with Benchmade’s site, they run their own forum so it’s a great place to interact with other Benchmade owners. Despite reports that the site is not mobile friendly it opened just fine for us on both iPad and iPhone.

Vltor SCAR Stock

Tuesday, March 27th, 2012

Vltor has produced a few upgrades to the SCAR’s standard furniture. One item is the SCAR Stock.

Coming in April, this new stock is completely compatible with the FN SCAR but incorporates some of Vltor’s modstock functionality. For example, the adjustment mechanism is unchanged and it still works the same including folding. However, it looks and feels completely different. The buttpad has been re-shaped to include a negative pitch for a more natural transition to the ready position and storage space has been added behind the buttpad with built-in cleaning rod retention and cleaning material storage spaces. Additionally, QD sling swivel sockets have been added in the upper-rear portion of the stock, and a metal reinforcement plate has been added for greater impact resistance.

The SCAR Stock is available in Black and Tan and fits both light and heavy models.
