Safariland has three cool new products. First is the 7000 series Injection Molded ALS holster. This process provides a tighter tolerance for weapon fitment and eliminates the internal suede fabric that many do not like due to the potential for water retention. Additionally, the injection molded nylon is more tolerant to high (300 deg F) and low (-60 deg F) temperatures than Kydex. I am very impressed with how smooth the pistol is stored and presented and the ALS button seems to be more smooth as well in the sample I tried out today. They are already available for Glock 9mm/.40 frames.
Second is an entirely new prototype, Kydex IWB holster. It’s so new that it doesn’t even have a name or model number. Even though it’s thin, it still features active retention. The loop is adjustable for height and cant. Available this Fall.
Finally is the Low Roll Distraction Device Simulator. It is the same weight, size, and shape as the actual, live device but designed specifically for training. It’s going to give you a noise level similar to a .38 round but there is no flash, heat, or over pressure. It comes in a kit consisting of a standard CO2 tank, filler, 4-6 bodies and safety levers and pins as well as box of diaphragm reloads. Since its made from a steel body, you can toss it through windows but you are looking at around $7-10 per shot compared to over $60 for a real device plus the safety considerations.

The modern Enfield Rifle Company is a brand-new company located in Clayton, Georgia, and they just so happen to be big fans of ours. The first of their product line available is the MERC415 carbine, named as such due to it being an M4-style AR-15. The upper receiver is forged from T6 7075 A3 style aluminum and features M4 feed cuts, engraved T-marks, and a 16″ M4 profile barrel made from 4150 CMV steel, with a 1:7 twist. The lower receiver is also forged from T6 7075 aluminum and is mil 8625 type III hard coat anodized with a mil-sized 6-position buffer tube and rear receiver sling loop. The MERC415 is built to MERC’s own Mil-G.R.A.D.E. (Military-Government Requirements and Data Equivalent) standard. This is Enfield’s term to describe their firearms, built similarly to what is marketed as a mil-spec weapon, without any implications that its design follows the US Government Technical Data Package’s exact specifications.
Enfield Rifle Company has a great-looking website that is currently up-and-running, and features the full specifications of their MERC415 carbine, along with further explanation of the Mil-G.R.A.D.E. term, and how it differs from mil-spec. At the moment, MERC is currently seeking only one official dealer in each state due to overseas commitments, although the MERC415 can be directly ordered through the company and delivered to your FFL of choice.
The Modular Charge System (MCS) has been designed and developed through a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) between Zero Point & NAVEODTECHDIV.
-A suite of equipment condenses the explosive capabilities available from multiple explosives and explosive tools into one device which allows the user to quickly employ multiple charge types.
-This may allow the replacement of several of the pre-packed explosive charges, such as the Mk-23/24, (MK 89/87/45/ MK 1/2/3 ).
-The MCS can be configured to use Conical and Linear Shaped Charges, Hemispherical, Explosively Formed Projectiles (EFPs), Explosively Driven Flyer Plates, Steel Shot EFP / Flyers, Contact Charges, Strip Charges, MCD/LIDD replacement.
-In addition several different types of liners and materials can be used, Copper, Magnesium, Zirconium, Aluminum, Liners; 60/75/90 degree/Flat/EFP & Hemi liners.
-Offers an bbvious EOD application against a variety of ordnance/IED threats.
-Breacher applications include easily configurable satellite and slider charges.
-Safety Certification not required due to user packed explosives.
-Fielding expected later this year.
