image

GallantFew is holding a drawing for a rifle built around a Spartan 15 lower receiver, serial number 001, the proceeds of which will go towards the Descendants of Sparta program. The rifle will be on display at SHOT Show 2014, at the LBT booth #31307. To enter, donate a minimum of $10 to GallantFew at this link – bit.ly/1i5Pv6i; every $10 donated equates to an entry for the Spartan 15 drawing. Ranger Monger will pick the winner at the Run Ranger Run kickoff at Monday, February 3rd, 2014.

The Descendants of Sparta program was set up to help curb the epidemic that is Veteran suicide. It is a branch of the GallantFew 501c3 nonprofit. These folks do great work so let’s get out there and support them.

Sneak Peek – Laser Battery Cap from EOTech

Friday, January 10th, 2014

You may recall the Laser battery Cap from Elite Defense. EOTech has picked it up and it launching it at SHOT Show as a product in their line.

EOTech’s Holographic Weapon Sight technology will now be available commercially with lasers. EOTech has designed a new drop-in replacement Laser Battery Cap (LBC) that can be used on all 512/552 Holographic Weapon Sights.

Laser Battery Cap

The EOTech LBC combines the lightning fast target acquisition of the Holographic Weapon Sight with the versatility of integrated aiming lasers to create an optic capable of excelling in any environment. These battery caps offer a low power red visible and IR laser making them ideal for home defense, CQB and force-on-force training.

The LBC’s operate through the use of an easy on/off toggle switch and come with an accessory port for a remote pressure switch (sold separately). They run on easy to find Lithium AA batteries for between 36 and 60 hours depending on laser type and usage. They are also waterproof to 10ft for up to one hour.

John Bailey Director of Product Development stated, “The 512 and 552 Holographic Weapon Sights have been some of our most successful products. This new Laser Battery Cap (LBC) doubles the aiming capability of the HWS without incurring the added cost of an entirely new sight.”

The new EOTech LBC’s are available in 4 configurations:
• LBC: laser battery cap accessory, Visible Red Laser, compatible with all 512/552 models. MSRP: $285.00
• LBC2: laser battery cap accessory, Visible & IR Laser, compatible with all 512/552 models. MSRP: $429.00

Sig Sauer P320

Friday, January 10th, 2014

IMG_2277

Last night, Sig Sauer put up a video of the new P320 modular striker fired pistol. They immediately took the video down, however a reader of ours managed to take screenshots first. Information on the P320 is limited, given Sig’s intent to officially launch it at SHOT Show 2014. However, a few details have been leaked:

  • Ambidextrous slide catch lever
  • Reversible magazine release
  • Small, Medium, and Large-size frames
  • Will be compatible with both a standard trigger and tabbed safety trigger, similar to a Glock trigger
  • Reportedly, variants in 9mm, .357 SIG, .40, and .45 ACP w/double-stack magazine capacities
  • Reportedly, SIGLITE night sights are standard with the pistol
  • This is the write up from the SIG website.

Introducing the P320, a polymer-framed service pistol designed from the ground up with the input of law enforcement officers. The result is the most operator-safety focused striker duty pistol on the market today.

Taking into account the concerns of military and police training officers, the P320 provides an enhanced level of safety not found on most modern service pistols. Unlike its competitors, the P320 does not require the operator to pull the trigger nor use a special tool to take-down the firearm for cleaning or routine maintenance.

Featuring a modular grip frame and removable fire control assembly pioneered by SIG SAUER, the P320 is customizable to any hand size or duty requirement. The P320 can quickly be converted from a Full-size to a Carry pistol. Slide and barrel conversions allow the P320 to change between calibers and barrel lengths as well. The P320 will be immediately available in 9mm, .40S&W and .357SIG, with .45ACP coming later in 2014.

With a partially pretensioned striker, the P320 has a short, crisp trigger pull with a quick, pronounced reset right out-of-the-box. The P320 comes in two trigger variants: a standard trigger and a tabbed safety trigger for specific law enforcement clients. Featuring the SIG SAUER internal safety system, the P320 has no external safety or decocking lever to snag or hang up on the draw. A frame-mounted thumb safety version will be available for law enforcement needs. SIGLITE® night sights come standard, and the reversible magazine release makes the P320 completely ambidextrous.

Whatever the requirement, patrol duty, competition, time at the shooting range, or concealed carry, the P320 brings SIG SAUER legendary reliability, durability, and quality to the polymer-framed, striker-fired duty pistol.

Osprey Range Day – Overmatch Concepts

    Osprey Range Day Invite (1)

I attended the premiere range event hosted by Osprey Global Solutions and Defense Logistics Support. You may recall my story on the HCAR, a modernized BAR. Osprey boasts a great facility nestled east of I-95 about 45 minutes from Fayetteville, North Carolina. Boasting 25m out 1400m range access, the facility is the brainchild of Retired Army Major General David Grange who heads up Osprey.

    Osprey Range Day Invite (2)

Below, you can see some shots from the last range day when Osprey hosted about 50 military and law enforcement personnel as well as members of industry. In addition to a variety of weapon solutions offered by Osprey Armament, we also were introduced to new forensic evidence collection systems as well as the actual range complex itself. This next even will boast even more with the introduction of UAVs, medical systems and tactical training technologies. Expanded to two days, it gives additional opportunities for attendance and hands on experience with the systems on display. Additionally, lunch is provided. See you there!

If you are going to be in the area and are interested in attending send an to email Steve from OSPREY at sperry@ospreyglobalsolutions.com or Trevor Kräcker with Defense Logistics Support, Inc. at tk@defenselogisticssupport.com. It is imperative that you email for a reservation as it is by invitation only and you will not be given entry without being on the list.

    More On The Tactical Chaplain

    Friday, January 10th, 2014

Turns out, the Tactical Chaplain who recently reached out to a prominent tactical gear producer for T&E samples, actually represents ‘usasoc’ not ‘USASOC’. It looks as though ‘usasoc’ is a “Christian men’s ministry serving the special operations community” that is based in Quantico, Virginia. Considering this, I’m not even sure at this point if he’s actually even in the service.

Yes, we know who he is now, and no, we aren’t going to share his name publicly. I’m not one to undermine confidence in the clergy. Not when guys like this work so hard to do it to themselves. However, if you are in industry and have been contacted by a Tactical Chaplain from usasoc or for that matter anyone with a usasoc.us email, hit me up and I’ll verify the name.

This just gets better and better.
