OR Summer Market 19 – Granite Gear Unveils Three New Technical Day Packs

Granite Gear has introduced three new Technical day packs, the Scurry, Dagger and Shovel Point. Like all Granite Gear packs, these are lightweight, made from 100D and Custom 210D Robic high tenacity nylon.

Scurry

The Scurry rides high on the back. It is a 24 liter pack, intended to carry about 20 lbs.

Features:

• Roll-top main compartment, secondary zippered front pocket

• Low-profile, foam padded back panel and shoulder straps

• Hydration port and internal sleeve

• Stretch woven side pockets

• Adjustable sternum strap and webbing waist belt

Dagger

Built for hiking trails, the 22 liter Dagger’s weight is distributed via a thin frame sheet and the hip-hugging form of the pack to the webbing waist belt.

• Zippered access to main compartment

• Top secondary, quick-stash pocket

• Hydration port and internal sleeve

• Dual-density padded back panel and shoulder straps • Removable frame sheet

• Removable webbing waist belt with emphasized hip-hugging form • Arched compression strap system

• Stretch woven side pockets

• Tall front stretch woven pocket with reflective cord system

• Adjustable sternum strap

Shovel Point

The Shovel Point, is 28-Liters and will haul heavier gear, such as a helmet, rope and shovel more comfortably and securely. The 210D front panel expands outward to stash gear and acts as a compression arch when not in use. Including the Re-Fit waist hipbelt, which is fully adjustable from 26″ to 42″ waists, the Shovel Point has the potential to carry bigger loads.

OR Summer Market 19 – Klymit Launches Tents

Slowly but surely, Klymit continues to introduce new products for outdoor living. Years ago they launched sleeping pads, then sleeping bags which led to hammocks. Now, it’s tents.

Seen here is the Maxfield 4, a 3-season tent which comes with a removable fly and has a trail weight of 5 lbs, 1 oz. The interior is 86×96 in and has a peak height of 44.5 in.

There is also a Maxfield 2 which is a smaller version for two hikers.

Comp-Tac® has enhanced their products by imprinting a basket weave finish on their high-quality, air-craft grade Kydex® . Because the pattern is imprinted into the Kydex® it will not rub off or wear over time. It gives a long lasting visual as well as tactile feel of basket weave on the customer’s favorite holster, mag pouch, handcuff or tourniquet TACO® product. In addition to the basket weave finish, the stenciling of the item’s make and model has been moved to the back to maintain the clean look the basket weave offers.

PDW Ti-NATO Straps

Updated Modern Version of the Military G10-Type NATO Strap

Prometheus Design Werx introduces their new Ti-NATO Strap. An updated and modern take on the classic military G10-Type watch strap originally introduced in 1973 by the British Ministry of Defence. The PDW version of the “NATO-Type” watch strap features titanium alloy rings and buckle which are non-magnetic and rustproof. The Ti-NATO uses a heavier duty nylon strap, which is durable, yet pliable and comfortable. These straps are perfectly suited for today’s purpose driven, mechanical movement watches. Use them on land or underwater. The PDW Ti-NATO Straps will be available in 20mm and 22mm widths, and Black and OD Green straps colors.

The Ti-NATO Strap from Prometheus Design Werx will introduce new colors in the near future, and possibly new widths according to customer requests and as they are developed.

The Design and R&D Team at PDW states:

“The initial impetus to create these was out of a need to accommodate some of our DOD customers. We’re known for our watchband compass kits and since they are designed to be used with NATO-Type straps we became aware that the stainless steel rings and buckles on most of the ones available on the market were easily magnetized when exposed to all the trendy rare earth magnets found in today’s EDC products. We’ve never been huge fans of rare earth magnets used in EDC goods, but they are out there. Firstly anyone with a good mechanical movement watch knows that magnets are not a mechanical watch’s friend. Secondly, if you use a strap-worn supporting compass, any magnetic fields will throw off your accuracy. By using titanium hardware in our strap we’ve eliminated this from even being a possibility. Our titanium rings are more robust than the typical stamped stainless type and not as bulky as the ZULU type. It’s a good sweet spot. Our nylon straps are custom woven and again, we feel a great sweet spot for thickness, durability while remaining comfortable for all day wear. On land or under the sea our Ti-NATO straps are perfect companions for your favorite watch.”
