Friday, March 20th, 2020

Gyms have been closed, but members of the 173rd Airborne Brigade are staying fit thanks to their BeaverFit 20′ Performance Lockers. The locker is a portable, versatile gym that is completely housed within a TRICON.

When using the BeaverFit, a dynamic variety of equipment can be unloaded and set up to create an immersive workout environment.

“I’m a big fan of working out outside,” said 1st Lt. Russ Parsons. “Once it starts to get warmer [and] you can come outside, the BeaverFit is perfect.”

NDIA: Safety top priority in canceling 2020 SOFIC

ARLINGTON, VA – Following directives to avoid mass gatherings for public safety amid the Coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 Special Operations Forces Industry Conference (SOFIC) is canceled, the National Defense Industrial Association announces today.

NDIA manages SOFIC for U.S. Special Operations Command; its annual event draws thousands of people from around the world to Tampa, Florida. The rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus and national efforts to stop it led NDIA and USSOCOM to decide not to hold this year’s event.

“NDIA and USSOCOM fully agree the safety and wellness of attendees and participants always are our utmost priority,” said Hawk Carlisle, NDIA’s president and CEO. “We look forward to this important annual gathering of the special operations community and the people and businesses that support them, surrounded by the warm welcome of Tampa. We will look forward to this gathering next year.”

This year’s SOFIC was scheduled for May 11-14 at the Tampa Convention Center and would have featured the biennial capabilities demonstration of international Special Operations Forces.

Further details on SOFIC are available on SOFIC.org and will be updated frequently.

NDIA and USSOCOM thank everyone for their interest in this year’s event. “We wish you good health and safety during this uncertain time so we may see you at the 2021 SOFIC,” Carlisle said. Please stay abreast of Coronavirus developments and directions from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, the World Health Organization, the Department of Defense, and your particular state and local governments.

A list of FAQs is available for SOFIC and will be updated frequently.

GiantMouse Knives Introduces the ACE Clyde in Brass

Ruger – PC Charger

Friday, March 20th, 2020

A couple of years back, Ruger released the PC (Pistol Caliber) Carbine, an evolution of a concept initially realized with the discontinued Ruger Police Carbine. Featuring a takedown receiver, ~16″ barrel, and 9x19mm chambering, The PC Carbine was designed to allow shooters to utilize a common caliber and magazines between their sidearm and long gun, lowering a shooter’s logistical burden while providing an improvement in controllability, accuracy, and effective range as required. Lending to the functionality of the PC Carbine is its interchangeable magwells, since it comes out of the box compatible with Ruger’s Security 9 magazines, but can be quickly converted using an included magwell to feed from ubiquitous Glock pattern 9mm magazines instead; a Ruger American compatible magwell was also made available for purchase.

The warm reception and popularity of the PC Carbine led Ruger to expand the product line with various models, including some with a modular, more ‘tactical/modern’ chassis, and others chambered for .40 S&W. However, earlier this week Ruger revealed the most unique addition to the PC line yet, with the introduction of the PC Charger. Like Ruger’s .22 Charger to the 10/22, the PC Charger is a pistol variant of the PC Carbine that utilizes the same receiver – you can think of it as a PDW to the PC Carbine’s, well, carbine:

– 16.5″ overall length vs the PCC’s 34.37″
– 6.5″ barrel length vs the PCC’s 16.12″
– 5 lbs vs the PCC’s 7 lbs

Simply put, it’s a lighter, more compact weapon compared to the PCC while retaining parts commonality and many of the same features, such as the 12 o’clock Picatinny optics rail, reversible charging handle and magazine catch, threaded barrel, and exchangeable magazine well.

What’s unique to the PC Charger, at least compared to the standard PC Carbine, is the features of its polymer chassis. It includes rearward QD cups for installing QD-compatible slings, the ability to install any AR-compatible pistol grips, and the integrated rear 7075-T6 Picatinny rail, for attaching a rail-mounted brace or stock mount. Rounding out the PC Charger is an M-LOK compatible forend which allows for the attachment of M-LOK accessories or rails at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions.

Television Icon David Blanton of Realtree featured on Federal Ammunition’s “It’s Federal Season” Podcast

Thursday, March 19th, 2020

ANOKA, Minnesota – March 19, 2020 – For more than three decades, Realtree has been a pioneer in developing and licensing camouflage patterns and creating hunting content.  From its first pattern launch of real life, three dimensional patterns, Realtree took the concealment apparel market to new heights.  In the early stages of the company’s growth, Bill Jordan, Realtree founder, realized he needed to promote the brand himself to be successful.  One of the architects of those successful strategies, David Blanton, is on the “It’s Federal Season” podcast hotseat for this entertaining episode.

Episode No. 5 – The Influence of Realtree

www.federalpremium.com/podcast

“David Blanton has a great story to tell about the infancy of Realtree and the success that has followed since he and founder Bill Jordan met back in 1991,” says Jason Vanderbrink, President of Federal Ammunition.  The iconic television programming and marketing they developed vaulted Realtree’s brand image and camouflage patterns to be a household name today.  “Realtree shaped the way networks presented entertaining and aspirational hunting content on television,” says Jason Nash, Senior Marketing Director at Federal.  “Their videotape and DVD series are still popular, and they continue evolving with media consumption patterns with the launch of its own digital platform, of which Federal is a proud sponsor” says Nash.  Blanton adds some great perspective on what’s new with the brand, hottest patterns, and tells some personal stories that fit right in with “Funniest Home Videos.”
