Qore Performance Optimizes Customer Experience for International Orders

Wednesday, April 15th, 2020

Sterling, VA – In their endless pursuit of improving customer experience, especially in these challenging times, Qore Performance is drawing on their close partnership with FedEx from winning the 2019 FedEx Small Business Grant Competition. Qore Performance is proud to announce that pre-paid customs fees are now available for shipping to Allies in the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Germany, and South Korea. Using the FedEx Delivery Duty Paid process, Qore Performance is able to calculate and pay applicable host government-imposed duties and taxes on customer orders before shipping. There is no markup fee for this convenience that expedites the order fulfillment and delivery process for a large portion of their international customers.

Taking advantage of this feature is simple. Based on the shipping address and order, the shipping cost and applicable duties and taxes are calculated automatically on the shipping page in checkout.  A flat rate is available as well, but this will not include any duties and taxes.

This program adds significant benefit to the customers’ experience by allowing delivery directly to their doorstep. It eliminates a trip to the post office or sorting facility and paying unknown secondary expenses from the host government-imposed duties and taxes. The program also allows Qore Performance to refund the customer in the event shipping expenses come in lower than originally quoted.

The Operations Team at Qore Performance reviews every single shipment to ensure the best customer experience possible and that the best shipping options are available. Using their expertise in international shipping, the team is able facilitate seamless delivery, even to the most remote locations on earth.

From CEO and Co-Founder, Justin Li, “In the midst of the challenges before us all, Qore Performance will continue to innovate to serve our customers with the highest quality products that defeat the effects of the environment on human performance.”

Qore Performance is shipping the same day on all orders placed before 2pm EDT (GMT -4hrs), including on Saturday.

Varusteleka’s Remote Military March

Wednesday, April 15th, 2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all FTXs in Finland have been canceled. But as Varusteleka OY points out, they have 1600km of common border with Russia. Consequently, they see a need to keep their troops in top condition.

Varusteleka has taken it upon themselves launch what they calling a “remote military march.”

Rather than unit-level training, they want individuals to participate and they don’t care if you aren’t in Finland. It’s about solidarity and fitness after all. They already have some of the US partners joining up as well as lots of other Europeans as well.

Participants will get an awesome patch. They also have the Corona-division, where you need to do either 25km or 50km march with your protective mask on.

Plain and simple, each individual warrior executes their march according to their guidelines and shares the fun on social media. This way everyone can keep in top rucking condition and bring some good vibes to these grim times.

All participants who complete the challenge and share it in social media will get the desired Varusteleka’s Remote Military March patch and they will also do raffle off 1 pcs of 100 € gift card and 2 pcs of 50 € gift cards.

Sat 25.4. – Sun 26.4.

• Military: BDU, military boots, at least 10 kg rucksack from start to finish

• Open: No requirements for clothing and shoes. At least 10 kg rucksack from start to finish

• Corona: Same as the military division but wearing gasmask throughout the route. Gas mask can be removed for drinking and maintenance. ATTENTION! Please be aware of your own performance level and health. If you are unsure or do not have experience of marching with the gas mask, do not take this challenge.

25 km or 50 km. Route according to own choice but the route should contain both paved roads and off-road sections. The route should avoid areas which might be heavily crowded

Alone or in small groups and keeping in mind required social distances. If possible, some sort of trailing or GPS tracking would be nice. Share your experiences on social media by using hashtags: #varusteleka #etäsotilasmarssi #remotemilitarymarch #ves #vrmm and mentioning us so they can find your efforts.

So fill your rucksack with rocks, replace the boot laces and go!

I’ll be the first to admit that with so many options, it can be a bit overwhelming to choose which Arc’teryx jacket is the right one for a given activity. I used one of the jackets during an ice climbing trip earlier this year. In fact, most of us on the trip were outfitted with one. Activities included hiking in crampons up and down trails to the various ice faces along and climbing up those faces. In between, time would be spent either belaying fellow climbers or standing around waiting for our turn to climb. So the conditions were much like a professional user. We had movement interrupted by sedentary periods. It was pretty cold (down to the teens) but warmed up if you could get in the sun. I never overheated in the jacket, but did vent the front zip during movement. Once we were on-site the Windstopper shell was welcome to shed some of the breeze that would occasionally pick up and dust us with loose powder. Because of this, I was glad I had the Hoody as I really added my Alpha LT Shell to the mix. As for pants, I wore Wool long underwear and Alpha Pants. Although I brought COLD WX LT [GEN2] Pants with me in my pack, I never bothered putting them on since I was able to move around enough to keep my legs warm. This is the way to go if you’ll be moving around in cold weather.

The COLD WX LT [GEN2] line is offered in Jacket, Hoody, and Pant, both in solid colors and MultiCam.

Available from your favorite Arc’teryx LEAF dealer.

Nite Ize, a Boulder, Colo. based company that designs and manufactures inventor-driven products, has supplied critical materials to the overall mask building program. Gleason continued, “Elastic is a hot commodity and they supplied some of the best in the world. A unique and new formulation to keep this project going. The 3D nose piece is also an enormous step forward in long-term comfort.”

MYSTERY RANCH is using the feedback from hospital workers and the experience of the past several weeks to design a new mask that will be made available to the general public and government entities who are seeking all-day protection from COVID-19. The development of the new “Street Mask” includes a more form-fitting design and technical materials for a more comfortable fit over longer periods of time. The SureFire XC2-IRC

Monday, April 13th, 2020

Fountain Valley, CA—SureFire, LLC, manufacturer of the world’s finest—and most innovative—illumination tools and tactical products, wants to shed some light on the XC2-A-IRC. Before we get in to it, you should know this product probably isn’t for you. This product was designed for a specific end-user who had a requirement for an ultra compact infrared (IR) light & IR aiming laser combination. As such, the XC2-A-IRC is SureFire’s smallest, lightest dedicated IR light and laser combination. Its recoil-proof LED is focused by a multi-faceted reflector to create a broad, 850-nanometer infrared MaxVision Beam® that’s perfect for enhancing the capability and image quality of modern night vision goggles (NVGs). Its 845-nanometer infrared laser stands out when viewed with NVGs and, once zeroed, rarely needs re-zeroing thanks to adjustment screws that stand up to the effects of recoil. It can be powered by a AAA lithium, NiMH or alkaline battery, and its ambidextrous switching provides both momentary- and constant-on activation for ultimate controllability. Ultracompact, lightweight and rugged, the XC2-A-IRC is built to rule the night.

SCUBAPRO Sunday – Beards

Sunday, April 12th, 2020

One of the hardest or easiest things to do is dive with a beard or a mustache. I say it that way because, like most things, if you practice doing it, you will get better. There are a few things you can do that are going to help when diving with facial hair. I am going to cover some of the gear and other tricks and also repost a video that I found, and I think they are good.

First, you need to have the right mask. Depending on the size of your face and facial hair will help determine the mask you need. But honestly, you should still be able to use the same mask you always have unless you have gone full bigfoot. Here are a few of the better masks out there for dive with hair.

I have tried to pick low volume masks that are good for combat swimmer operations.

The SCUBAPRO Synergy 2 Mask is excellent for people with beards because of its unique two-skirt system. The flexible skirts fit tightly against your face, with the outer skirt providing additional support and rigidity. Combined, they provide superior comfort and resistance to leaking compared to other masks. When people are diving, and their mask starts to leak, the first thing you try and do to fix it is to pull it tighter, and if that doesn’t work you pull it tighter again, if this isn’t working, you do it again. If no matter what you do, your mask keeps leaking, try losing it up a little, when it is tight the mask will get ripples, like if you were to put a rubber band over your shirt sleeve. The Synergy 2 mask is suitable for people with a smaller face. If you have a beard or mustache and want a solid mask, you can’t go wrong with this one.

If you are looking for a mask that is good for beards and mustaches, the SCUBAPRO Solo is a good fit. The double-sealed silicone skirt conforms to almost every face, giving you an excellent leak-free seal. The SCUBAPRO Solo features a frameless, single tempered glass lens that is specifically designed to provide a wide field of view. Because of how close it sits to your face, the Solo has a low volume fit and easy clearing. Other notable features include a wide-split style, non-slip strap with adjustable buckles, a silicone skirt that comes with double-feathered edge sealing that is effective even against facial hair, and a nose-pocket that allows you to pinch your nose to clear.

The SCUBAPRO Crystal Vu Plus is a single lens mask, which some people like because it can provide a more precise, unobstructed view underwater. It comes with a purge valve, and this makes it easy to clear and rarely fogs up. Should water enter the mask because the mask didn’t seal properly around your beard or mustache, exhale air through your nose to clear the water. You can breathe out through your nose, and the water is vented out. The purge valve can fit a little tight for some people, but most people love this mask once they try it.

Another feature of this mask is the side viewing windows, which provide excellent peripheral vision in the water. It has an excellent seal that should allow it to fit snug and tight on about 90% of people, even with facial hair.

In the video, Richie Denmark talks about using a razor to help trim a little bit of your facial hair away. I just wanted to point out the Schick Silk Touch-up multipurpose exfoliation tool. It is excellent for fine-tuning your hair.

Richie, Thank you for letting me post your video.

There are a lot of good masks out there besides the ones I mentioned. Atomic makes some really good high-end masks. Like everything you do, you need to make sure you practice. Even if it’s just getting in the pool a couple of times, it is easy to say it is the gear’s fault that you can do something. Lastly, remember if you are diving a rebreather and you are going to put something on your mustache to help it seal, do not use petroleum produces.
