UF PRO to Spotlight New Striker X Combat Pants, Other Tactical Gear at Paris Milipol Show, 19-22 Nov

TRZIN, SLOVENIA (11 Nov. 2019)—Homeland Security officials and other attendees will get eyes on the newest and best tactical garments and accessories from UF PRO at the Milipol international fair set for 19-22 Nov. in Paris, UF PRO today announced.

UF PRO, which makes advanced-technology tactical garments and related gear for military special-forces teams and for law-enforcement agencies worldwide, said it plans to display at its exhibit booth (5D 083) a soon-to-debut range of highly anticipated combat shirts and pants known as Striker X.

“Our Striker X range is built to meet the demanding needs of military operators, whose input we drew on in designing both the shirts and pants,” said Armin Wagner, head of UF PRO product development. “Milipol is the big international gathering of homeland security players, the leading event of its kind in Europe.”

According to Wagner, the Striker X range is notable for extreme ruggedness combined with remarkable comfort.

“Striker X combat pants and shirts are made with high-tech, best-in-class materials that offer no-melt/no-drip,” Wagner explained. “All the seams are streamlined, and the places most vulnerable to rips and damage from abrasion are super-reinforced.

“Yet, they’re also exceptionally breathable. And, thanks to their anatomic fit, they move freely as though they’re part of the wearer’s body.”

Along with the new Striker X combat garments, UF PRO will showcase the special Striker FR range which can only be purchased by government entities, Wagner said.

However, those two patterns will not be the only ones to make an appearance at the UF PRO exhibit station, Wagner assured.

“We have a number of other new colours we want to parade past our guests at the booth,” he said. “One of these is Steel Grey, and it will be presented on our upcoming Delta OL 3.0 winter jackets and pants, as well as on our already available Striker BDUs.

“Another new colour is PHANTOMLEAF. A novel algorithm was employed in designing this adaptive pattern, which is why it can cause a wearer to visually blend in against almost any background. The surrounding landscape or environment may change, but this one pattern works in them all. It’s available only to governments in this pattern, but the WASP II Z3a pattern is developed for civilian usage as well.”

One more camouflage pattern expected to garner an abundance of interest is CONCAMO, which will be shown on UF PRO’s Striker HT combat pants, Wagner said.

“CONCAMO is short for ‘confusion camouflage,’” he explained. “And confusion is exactly what it produces in the brain of someone looking in the direction of a CONCAMO wearer. Its eight blended colours combined with an array of scientifically structured shapes toss a wrench into the subconscious mind, preventing awareness of what’s practically right in front of your face.”

Other major attractions announced for the UF PRO exhibit:

• Monsoon XT Gen.2 Rain Jacket and Monsoon XT Rain Pants. The jacket features a unique hood-harnessing system that doesn’t restrict the wearer’s field of view. UF PRO air/pac® inserts in the shoulders help better distribute the weight of a plate carrier or backpack. Both the jacket and pants are made of 100-percent waterproof laminates and include functional elements such as ventilation zippers, zippers for easy access of pockets beneath outerwear, and boot hooks to prevent the pants from bunching or riding up along the wearer’s legs.

• AcE Winter Combat Shirt & Delta AcE Plus Gen.2 Jacket. Both are designed for bitter cold-weather conditions by wearers engaged in a significant amount of sweat-breaking physical activity. Functional elements common to both include air/pac® inserts, highly water-repellent and windproof face fabric, and the ability to accommodate a plate carrier and backpack. The jacket offers abrasion-resistant side ventilation panels, while the shirt comes with a zipper side ventilation system.

• Delta ML Gen.2 Jacket. This feather-light, thermal-insulated tactical jacket is making its public debut at Milipol. It’s suited for use as either a middle or outer layer, and features abrasion-resistant side panels, G-Loft thermal insulation filling, and moisture-wicking microfleece lining. The face fabric is water-repellent and windproof.

Michael “Buck” Baccellieri grew up in Beaverton, Oregon and started his military career in the Oregon Army National Guard at the age of 17. He attended Basic and Advanced Individual Training (AIT), and after three years as an infantry rifleman he transitioned to the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Baccellieri served as a Scout in a Surveillance and Target Acquisition platoon at Camp Pendleton, and completed training as an Assault Climber, and a Combat Water Safety Swimmer. After four years in the U.S. Marine Corps, he transitioned back into the civilian sector where he worked as a diesel technician.

Five years later, Mr. Baccellieri returned to the Oregon Army National Guard, where he served as a sniper team leader. He finished his military career as an instructor at the Ft. Chaffee sniper school house in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. While serving in the U.S. Military, Mr. Baccellieri was deployed on five separate occasions, to various countries during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom.

SCUBAPRO Sunday – Veterans Day

November 11th, 1919 was the first observance of Armistice Day, it was created to honor the fallen from WW1. In 1938 it was made a legal holiday. In 1945 it was changed to honor all military veterans.

I wanted to share some stories of POW through the history of the U.S. There have been over 500,000 Prisoners of War held thru out the history of the U.S. Many did not make it home. I wanted to share this on Veteran’s Day as I feel they gave a lot more than most ever will.

Prison ships of the Revolutionary war

During the Revolutionary, War prisoner were held on prison ships on New York harbor. They were held in some of the worst conditions, and at one point, 12 prisoners were dying a night, from diseases like smallpox, typhoid, and yellow fever. By the end of the war, 11,000 soldiers would die in British ships, more than were killed in all the battles combined (4,500). Many died a slow and painful death within the confines of the HMS Jersey and other prison ships. During the evacuation of New York, British forces abandoned and set fire to all the prison ships in the harbor. Eight thousand prisoners were still onboard when it was set on fire. For years after the war, bones continued to wash up on the Brooklyn shore. In 1902, while extending one of the docks, workers at the Brooklyn Navy Yard unknowingly pierced the hull of the ship. Her resting place was finally discovered.

U.S. Civil War- Andersonville

Andersonville Prison, formerly known as Camp Sumter, was a Confederate military prison that only existed for 14 months during the American Civil War. It opened in early 1864 near Andersonville, Georgia, and closed in April of 1965. The prisoner’s lack of food, poor sanitation, disease, and also praying on each other, made Andersonville the worst prison of the war. Of the 56,000 prisoner-of-war deaths that occurred during the war, 13,000 were at Andersonville Prison.

WW2 POW of the Japanese

There were more than 350,000 prisoners captured by the Japanese in the Philippines, more than half were native, the natives were dying at such a high rate, that the Japanese released them. They said they were releasing them for propaganda purposes. Over 140,000 allied prisoners (U.S., UK, Aussies, Dutch, Canada, and Kiwis) were held in the Japanese POW camps. Of these, one in three died from starvation, work, and punishments. The death rate was 27% compared to 4% of POW help by German and Italy. About 5 million Chines died in captivity; over 25 million died at the hands of the Japanese.

Korea and Vietnam

As we started to fight communism, a new type of prison of war camp was encounter. Now, prisoners began to be “reprogramed.” North Korean, the Chinese and North Vietnamese guards, used extreme torture to try and “reprogram” the prisons. The most notorious prison during the Vietnam war was the H?a Lò, a name loosely translated as “hell hole.” It was nicknamed the Hanoi Hilton by the POWs. It is infamous as one of if not the worst prisons in history. From the beginning, U.S. POWs endured miserable conditions, including inadequate food, unsanitary conditions, and torture. Although North Vietnam was a signatory of the Third Geneva Convention of 1949, which demanded “decent and humane treatment” of prisoners of war, severe torture methods were employed, such as rope bindings, irons, beatings, and prolonged solitary confinement. The North said that since the US never declared war, they didn’t have to follow the Geneva Convention. In 1972 jane fonda visited the Hanoi Hilton. While she was there, she called out some of the prisons as faking being mistreated and being hungry. She also posed on an NVA anti-aircraft gun. When she returned, she called out returning POWs “hypocrites and liars,” adding, “These were not men who had been tortured. These were not men who had been starved. These were not men who had been brainwashed”.

Dallas SWAT Selects LWRCI IC-A5 Surefire, Aimpoint, B.E. Meyers For Their New Rifle System

Elite Tactical Unit fields first completely new weapons and components upgrade in departments’ history.

Cambridge, MD (November 8, 2019) – LWRC International, the leader in piston driven carbines and rifles, is honored to have been chosen, and fielded as the duty carbine for the Dallas, Texas SWAT Team.

In an official statement released today- ” The Dallas Texas Police Department SWAT team has selected and fielded the LWRCI IC-A5 carbine. The entire carbine setup was the first time in the departments history to obtain factory new weapon and components, identified, tested and selected by its team members, and delivered as a complete kit.”

Dallas SWAT Team members conducted long and rigorous testing on each component from several companies over a nearly 2 year review process. At the end of that process they chose the LWRCI IC-A5 Individual Carbine in a 10.5″ barrel configuration as its issued carbine for their elite tactical unit.

The IC-A5 is built on the patented LWRCI short-stroke gas piston system that offers unparalleled reliability and easy maintenance. Dual Control fully ambidextrous lower receiver includes bolt catch and release, magazine release and fire control access from both sides of the IC-A5 make it a versatile option for any operator. A low profile 2 position adjustable gas block allows the operator to compensate for running a suppressor.

Key accessory components were also included in the testing process. Dallas SWAT chose the Aimpoint CompM5 red dot as their primary sighting system, a Surefire SOCOM Mini II suppressor, the Surefire M622 Ultra SCOUT Light and the MAWL-DA visible / IR laser aiming and illumination device from B.E. Meyers to complete the package.

The team members who tested and chose the system issued this statement to those who made this possible. “Thank you to the citizens of Dallas who donated the funds to the Team foundation that ultimately paid for the purchase. This outstanding rifle package was entirely privately-funded and donated to our Dallas SWAT officers. Magpul Product Release: Magpul Bipod – Sling Stud

The Magpul Bipod – Sling Stud QD is the next offering in the Magpul bipod line. Able to mount on the Uncle Mike’s® Sling Swivel Stud that’s common to nearly every sporting rifle made, the Magpul Bipod – Sling Stud QD is the strongest, most fully featured bipod available with direct sling stud mounting.

With its rapid-attach sling stud mounting system, the Sling Stud QD bipod takes the effort out of aligning and tightening that comes with traditional sling stud-mount bipods. The stainless-steel mounting system self-locates and aligns perfectly every time, and an ergonomic thumbwheel allows for excellent grip to ensure easy tightening. Additionally, two sizes of non-marring, high-durometer rubber mounting gaskets are provided to ensure optimized fit and load distribution on narrow sporter-contour or wider target-style forends. The ability to mount a sling with standard locking sling swivels on the forend is maintained with a low-profile sling stud on the rear of the Sling Stud QD mount, which also provides for a quick detachment when it’s needed.

Providing the same premium features available in the existing line of Magpul bipods, the Sling Stud QD bipod brings you the high performance associated with higher-priced bipods at a significantly more affordable price. Spring-tensioned, Mil-Spec hard anodized 6061-T6 aluminum and injection-molded, reinforced polymer legs stow neatly forward and snap down and lock into place with one hand. Leg extensions slide and lock securely with the push of a button on any of the seven locking detents extending from 6.6” to 10.0”. An industry-exclusive 50° of total tilt are controlled by a glove-friendly, knurled, tool-less, bipod locking knob located between the extended legs, allowing easy adjustment between shots. A soft rubber bipod locking knob cap is attached to the locking knob, giving users a steady, non-marring forward rest while the bipod is folded. Additionally, its staggered soft rubber feet hold fast on a variety of shooting surfaces and are easily removed with a roll pin punch. Should users choose to change feet, the Sling Stud QD’s legs accept most Atlas-pattern bipod replaceable feet. The streamlined housing and legs fit neatly under the barrel and are just under 2.5” deep and 3.3” wide when folded.
