This is a release from SEALS Action Gear regarding their offering of UF PRO tactical apparel.

SEALS Action Gear is pleased to announce that we are now stocking the full range of UF PRO Tactical apparel. This European made, high quality clothing is second-to-none in construction, functionality and striking design; and includes the following key products:

Striker XT Combat Pants diagram

Striker XT Combat Pants

The flagship of the range – the XT pants are setting new industry standards for operational uniforms.
Giving specialists a significant increase in usefulness and efficiency was the highest priority during the development of the Striker XT Combat Pants.

The stretch areas have been expanded and new and ergonomically perfected knee protection has been introduced. This is made using an intelligent combination of technologies that enable highly efficient protection of the knee and tibia areas without fitting the protection system with a Velcro strap.

The width-adjustable lower leg area enables the effective fixing of objects in the lower leg pocket, including during rapid movement.

The large side pocket with inner compartments can be accessed in two ways.

The stretch areas in the hip/buttocks area and above and below the knee protection are made of an extremely resilient Schoeller-dynamic stretch material.

Based on the previous Striker Combat Shirt, some important components have been changed in the new XT model that considerably improves the wearing comfort and functionality.

In the torso area, the mix of polyester and merino wool offers extraordinary durability, wearing comfort and odor-inhibition.

The cut of the sleeve and the slide-in pockets have been ergonomically improved so that you will always land on the inserted elbow pads. Furthermore, this optimized cut allows users to pull up their sleeves comfortably for medical access.

An additional elastic ribbon in the underarm pocket offers better fixing for inserted equipment.

Delta Ace Jacket 1

Delta Ace Jacket

This is THE jacket for extreme physical activities at very cold and windy climatic conditions.

For the worst possible outdoor conditions, the Delta AcE Plus jacket provides excellent comfort properties, maximum wind protection and water repellent thermal insulation.

Protection against cold wind is provided with a two layer nylon ripstop-PU membrane laminate lined with the 37.5™ micro fleece.

A significantly increased wear comfort is achieved by air/pac inserts in the shoulder and upper back areas.

WarriorWool from WeatherWool

Tuesday, March 29th, 2016

Not long ago we told you about Al’s Anorak from WeatherWool which was worn on the season premiere of “Dual Survival” by primitive survival expert Bill McConnel. WeatherWool has also been working on a garment specifically for military use, called WarriorWool which is made from their fullweight fabric which is made from Rambouillet sheep fibers. That’s a material you’ll hear referred to as Merino wool.

As the story goes, one of WeatherWool’s founders is a SEAL and he wore their clothing during deployments to Afghanistan and that’s how WarriorWool was born. As you can see, it’s in their LYNX camo pattern which kind of resembles AOR 1 pattern.

Magpul – The Engineered T-shirt

Thursday, March 24th, 2016

The story on these new t-shirts is cool. Rather than continuing to place their logos on shirts made by someone else, they decided to take matters into their own hands. The result is three new types of Tees. At SHOT Show, Magpul gave me a megablend t-shirt from their new line. I really like it. It’s comfy. I think there’s someone for everyone in these three new choices.

Over the years, we’ve used a lot of different T-shirt blanks to print our Magpul branded tees. We’ve been dedicated to the search for “the perfect T-shirt”, but have never been entirely happy with anything we found. In the end, we realized that the only way to get everything we wanted was to solve it like we solve other problems…by making our own. Magpul Engineered T-s. The quality, comfort, and value that you expect from Magpul.

The Fine Cotton T-Shirt has been designed and engineered from the fiber to finished garment to be the softest, most comfortable, mid-weight T-Shirt available. Using 100% ring spun cotton and preshrunk, these T’s are constructed with a cut-n-sew pattern exclusive to Magpul. This method of construction features a side seam that controls twisting and torque and is finished off with our own rib collar and custom neck tape.

The Megablend T-shirt, in a similar weight to our Fine Cotton model, offers a more athletic look and feel, with its soft breathable blend of 50% cotton, 38% Poly, and 12% Rayon. Preshrunk and constructed with Magpul’s own Cut-N-Sew pattern engineering, this tough T will hold up to plenty of abuse and repeated wash cycles. We finish it off with our own rib collar and custom neck tape.

The Superweight T-Shirt, as the name implies, is our heaviest construction. Using our standard Cut-N-Sew pattern engineering, this 100% ring spun cotton T weighs in at a whopping 7.5 oz. and is perfect when warmth, concealment, and durability are desired. As with all the Magpul T’s the Superweight is finished with our own rib collar and custom neck tape.

Propper Releases Odor Free Base Layers

Thursday, March 24th, 2016

propper 1

St. Charles, MO – Propper announces that they are now shipping new high-performance base layers for extreme use by military, first responders, and discerning civilians. The new mid-weight top and bottom layers are odor free, long-lasting, and constructed to perform in the harshest environments.

The secret is in the fabric. Propper base layers feature a Polygiene treatment that incorporates silver salt (silver chloride) into the weave of the fabric. Polygiene prevents the growth of odor-causing bacteria and fungi at the source, permanently! Not only does it prevent odor, it also extends the life of the garment by preventing bacteria from eating away at the fibers over time (think holes in socks).

propper 2

The performance of these garments goes beyond the fabric. Propper utilizes flat-lock seams to lay flat against the skin to avoid rubbing or chafing. These flat-lock seams are sewn offset from the shoulder for increased comfort. This is beneficial when carrying a bag or wearing armor that would ride on the shoulder and dig a traditional seam into your skin.

“Between the Polygiene treatment and modern construction techniques, Propper stands behind its commitment to build product right.” said Joe Ruggeri Senior VP of Merchandising and Product Development, “We won’t cheapen the product to reduce our costs. We always work to build in value.”

propper 3

These base layers fit “next-to-skin”, so wearers won’t have to size-up their tactical pant/shirt.

XGO Montana Wool

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2016

I didn’t know that XGO offered wool garments so it came as a quite a surprise when we were discussing their line last week. Apparently, they offered wool briefly in 2008, but they’ve reintroduced it for Spring 2016.

The issue has long been access to American wool that is on par with the famed Merino sheep of New Zealand. It’s happening and XGO has access to it.

The advantages of wool are well known. Its inherent no-melt, no-drip and odor resistant properties as well as excellent warmth, even when wet, are all great reasons to use this natural fiber. XGO has also enhanced the wool’s performance with their AG-47 anti-microbial silver treatment.

Don’t forget, XGO has offered a very generous discount to SSD readers by using discount code “SSD50” for 50% off everything on their site except clearance (not stackable) items. This offer ends 2 April at COB.

Hexonia – Ballistic Garments

Friday, March 18th, 2016

One of the brands I encountered at Enforce Tac and IWA earlier this month was Hexonia. They have been working on Gladius, the German Army’s Future Soldier System and produce some very interesting knit garments.

160317_Baluw Combatshirt

They’ve done a lot of work on the clothing subsystem of Gladius which includes ballistic undergarments as well as Combat Shirt. Hexonia’s approach to ballistic underwear, called BALUW is the combination of three dimensional production techniques utilizing specialty yarns. As you can see, they offer body mapped knits for the torso of the garment. Their production offers ergonomically shaped products with significantly reduced number of seams, or in some cases, no seams at all. BALUW is worn as a first layer directly on the skin. The tight fit is to ensure that it can’t be blown away from the skin by a blast wave. Even the elastic zones are made of ballistic material and increase comfort without reducing the level of protection.

Their material combination also has excellent physiological properties. It has a very smooth hand against the skin and doesn’t lead to any abrasions. Additionally, thanks to the hydrophobic materials, sweat is absorbed readily and wicked away from the body. What’s more, the material is flame retardant with no burn, melt or drip. Finally, BALUW can be washed at 60 °C.
