TEA Headsets Launches INVISIO V60

Wednesday, October 17th, 2012

The INVISIO V60 is an Advanced Tactical Quad-Com System which allows users to seamlessly connect and control all of their comms devices with one simple-to-use controller. Quad-Com capable means that, with the use of a dual-net radio, users can communicate across four separate channels.

Currently the market’s smallest Quad-Com capable tactical communication system, the V60 is smaller than many other controllers. Devices that can be integrated into the V60 include 2-way radios, dual-net radios, radio man-packs, vehicle/aircraft and watercraft ICS, mobile phones, tablets, PC’s and even user to user through the use of TEA’s new portable intercom system. Users can also control their devices remotely or from the rail of their rifle with the optional INVISIO M80 dual wireless push-to-talk.

One of the coolest things about the V60 is that it will work with virtually any headset, new or old through the use of adapters. It will work with Peltor and Sordin headsets as well as the INVISIO X5, a dual in-ear headset which provides user certified hearing protection, enhanced digital hearing and clear communications through a bone conduction microphone for speech. TEA also offers a custom molded version of this headset called the X6 as well as a special version for JTAC/Airborne applications. V60 is rated IP68 (submersible down to 20 meters) and compliant with MIL-STD810F standards.

Make sure you check out the V60 later this month at AUSA in booth #8155, where it will make its debut.

AUSA – Ceradyne, Inc and Threat4 Inc to Introduce MOHAWK Combat Helmet

Thursday, October 11th, 2012

During last year’s AUSA, Ceradyne introduced a demonstrator of their MOHAWK technology. Now, they’ve refined the concept and in conjunction with communications producer Threat4, are unveiling this new version at this year’s AUSA.

The new “MOdular HArd Wired Kitted (MOHAWK) Boltless Combat Helmet” (Patent Pending) was developed by Ceradyne Diaphorm with the tactical in-ear radio communication headset developed by Threat4 Inc. This headset also offers hearing protection. The actual helmet features Ceradyne’s advanced Seamless Ballistic technology developed for the Enhanced Combat Helmet and integrates a modular data and power bus bar system. Essentially, this is a powered helmet with multiple mounting points on the helmet’s shell.

Marc King, President of Ceradyne Armor Systems and Patrick Armstrong, CEO of Threat4 both commented: “The integration of a headset communication system with hearing protection to the MOHAWK helmet provides a weight and logistics savings to the warefighter by eliminating the traditional headset’s power source and connecting to the power rail. The addition of comms and hearing protection to the helmet completes the warefighter`s Headborne equipment requirements and simultaneously addresses hearing protection.

The Threat4 tactical headset is a variant of Threat4’s traditional x-62000 series headset but modified to include brackets to mount it on either side of the MOHAWK and to draw power from the bus bar system. Other accessories that are mountable to the MOHAWK include IFF (identification friend-or-foe) transponder, NVG (night vision goggle) with integrated camera and LED flashlight, all powered from the rear battery pack. Last year these were Wilcox Ind products and based on the diagram, look to still be.

Now, if we can just get this program and the powered weapon rail to include common interface standards we might be on to something.

MDM – SWIPES

Tuesday, September 25th, 2012

EFB has developed the AN/PRC154 Charger with side pan connector to allow one set of cables to both power a radio and end user device (EUD) as well as provide a data path. It was designed for Nett Warrior and there are currently in excess of 400 of these currently undergoing evaluation. The charger is low profile and they’ve developed a pouch specifically to accommodate it and the radio.

Based on that project, they are working with Fires Warrior to expand the personal LAN to include input from the Vector 21. This required a module to convert data from RS232 standard to USB. Once again, everything is controlled by the EUD.

MBITR Tip Out Radio Pouch from ATS Tactical

Friday, September 21st, 2012

One of the major shortcomings of current issue load carrying systems is the lack of any radio pouch let a lone a decent one. If a pouch does come with your military radio at all, chances are good it was thrown in as an afterthought by the radio manufacturer. Does anybody remember this awful Black ballistic nylon pouches with the ALICE clips?

20120921-172427.jpg

ATS Tactical has introduced their answer to the problem with the Tip Out Radio Pouch. The design was inspired by an 18E, specifically for use with the MBITR which has now seen widespread use among SOF and conventional forces alike, it does exactly what its name implies. Once mounted on your equipment, it “tips out” so that you can more easily manipulate the radio. Yet, it remains attached to your vest. The ITW hardware can be manipulated one-handed for ease of use.

Available in MultiCam, Coyote Brown, and Ranger Green. Like all ATS brand gear, it is made in the USA and covered by a lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects in materials and workmanship.

TCI Introduces Liberator Series BTH Headset Attachment Kit for OPS-CORE and High Cut Helmets

Friday, September 7th, 2012

20120907-142145.jpgTCI has created a solution to improve comfort and convenience of wearing tactical headsets with contemporary tactical headsets. You may have noticed TCI’s solution when it was recently televised on NBC’s “Stars Earn Stripes” television series where military operatives and celebrities teamed-up to compete and earn money for public safety and military charities.

The Liberator Series Behind-the-Head (BTH) Attachment Kit works with the Ops-Core FAST, Base Jump and other high-cut tactical helmets by allowing users to attach their tactical headset directly to the helmet. It works exceptionally well with Ops-Core helmets with Occ-Dual or advanced nape support straps, while preserving valuable helmet rail space for other mission gear.

The Liberator Series Behind-the-Head (BTH) Attachment Kit was designed as a conversion kit for Liberator II and III BTH headsets to improve modularity, comfort, fit and convenience. Users can don and doff their headset and helmet simultaneously, yet quickly detach the headset from the helmet to place on another compatible helmet. Or, they can wear the headset or helmet independently.

20120907-142347.jpg

Other attachment systems use the limited rail space of the helmet and the mounting system protrudes outside the normal width of the helmet. TCI noticed that this makes them prone to breakage and removing the headset from the helmet quickly is an endeavor. What’s more, their concern was that you couldn’t effect an expedient battlefield repair if it broke.
