Thyrm Launches PyroVault

The metal fluid lighter has been around since the 1930’s. It’s a beloved piece of Americana. But it’s not without fault. Major complaints include the evaporation of fuel, slippery case and lack of an attachment method. Thyrm addresses these issues and takes the traditional metal lighter into the future with the PyroVault.

“We had a blast designing modern-day armor for the classic, fluid lighter. The goal was to create a shell that retained the ability to use fluids available in remote and austere conditions but adds sealing to keep the elements out and the fluid in.” said THYRM CEO Andrew Frazier. “We also wanted a clip to attach it to gear, and grip surfaces so it doesn’t turn into a bar of soap when it’s wet and dirty.”

The PyroVault fits most Zippo-style inserts including butane torch versions. It’s made of reinforced nylon for toughness and an O-ring provides a waterproof seal. The latch is spring-loaded for one-handed operation. The MOLLE/PALS compatible clip means that your lighter will be right where you need it when you need it.

New Bench Top Work Mat from PDW

The mat is made especially to keep your project organized and to prevent the loss of small items. The PDW Benchtop Work Mat is a thicker styled, negative relief work surface and measures 11” x 17” x 3?8” thick.

The Design and R&D Team at PDW states:

“This workshop product we created was designed to address a need we routinely encountered. In particular when assembling and disassembling folding knives we wanted to have an isolated work surface to keep and organize small parts like machine screws, washers, back spacers, pocket clips to the larger parts like the handles and blade. Those neoprene mouse pad type work mats just didn’t do a good job keeping small parts organized or in many instances from rolling on to the floor. Our work mat has proven useful for many of our workshop to home tinkering tasks; from changing out spring bars on a watch, servicing a flashlight, and if you’re feeling really adventurous repairing your smartphone. SHOT Show 2018 – SOG Knives PowerAccess Deluxe

The PowerAccess Deluxe is a new multitool from SOG Knives. Made of 5Cr15MoV steel with a stonewash finish, the PowerAccess Deluxe has 21 tools, as well as a 12-piece hex bit kit, and the components can be opened while keeping the tool closed. This tool utilizes SOG’s compound leverage gripping power. With this feature, and the wire cutters, we were able to slice clean through a penny the rep had on hand.

Another cool feature of this and other tools in SOG’s new line is the ability to retain a bit while the tool is closed.

Warren Innovative Technologies – Dead Air Wolf-9SD Body Wrenches

Warren Innovative Technologies has announced the availability of 3D-printed polymer Body Wrenches for the Dead Air Wolf-9SD suppressor. The design engages the recesses of both the serial numbered rear, and the front sections, allowing the user to apply more torque to their Wolf-9SD from the front. Warren is also offering wrenches for the Dead Air Ghost suppressor, as well as SilencerCo’s Omega 9K/45K/Octane cans; the SilencerCo wrenches comes with a strap wrench mount adapter when further torque is needed.

These are made-to-order, with lead times dependent on order volume.

If you’re wondering these tools are made of 3D printed polymer, rather than a metal like steel or aluminum, here’s the explanation straight from the creator:

I didn’t make it out of steel because I didn’t want to damage the finish on the mounts. I looked into laser cutting aluminum but the expert to whom I spoke about it said the small wrench features would cause heat overloading and cause bad results from melting.

The 3D printed product prevents finish damage while allowing adequate torquing for installation and removal. It also allows embedded text without additional laser engraving.
