Rampart Range Day – MTEK Weapon Systems

Tuesday, May 26th, 2015

MTEK Weapon Systems has been working on helmet technology for a little over two years but now they’ve cracked the code on a one-piece undercut helmet.  Their Future Lightweight UnderCut System or FLUX is available in a vented and nonvented carbon bump as well as a ballistic helmet.

This ballistic model’s shell 1.1 lbs with a full helmet is about 1.9 lbs with full suspension, shroud and rails. In addition to featuring an undercut back, it is less than .25″ thick yet meets the ACH 17 grain v50 standard. Additionally, the shell has met NIJ level IIIA in testing but has not yet been certified while MTEK awaits final production suspension parts from the vendor.  You may notice the rail retainers which are adhered to the FLUX shell. This means that no holes are drilled in the shell to mount accessories.  In addition to the MTEK rails, the helmet will comes complete with Wilcox shroud.

You may notice a tin crack along the crest of this Team Wendy EXFIL Ballistic shell. That’s because it consists of fore and aft ballistic appliqués.

Team Wendy hasn’t named the appliqué yet but they are keeping an eye on SOF ballistic requirements with this development.

Princeton Tec Helmet Mount

Wednesday, May 13th, 2015

Princeton Tec Helmet Mount 1

Princeton Tec has developed a solution for their lights which helps to alleviate “rail estate” issues on ballistic helmets such as those from Team Wendy, Ops-Core, and Crye. The Princeton Tec Helmet Mount is a simple-yet-effective nylon piece which is placed behind the helmet rail, and allows users to relocate their lights above the rail, freeing up space for other accessories.

Princeton Tec Helmet Mount 2

The Princeton Tec Helmet Mount will be sold as an accessory kit with the Switch and Charge mounts included. If you’re attending SOFIC, you can check the new mount out at the Princeton Tec booth.

Australian Army Fields Crye Precision AirFrame Helmets

Monday, May 11th, 2015

The Australian Army tecently issued over 4,000 Crye Precision AirFrames to Tier 2 combatants in 1 Brigade. That alone is pretty big news.

Now here is where it gets interesting. Apparently, the procurement guys ordered, then cancelled, Crye helmet covers in AMCU. Looking at this photo it seems that someone local has made up some AMCU covers.

The tender for the remainder of the helmets (approximately 14,000 for both Tier 2 & 3) is being evaluated at the moment.

Warrior West – Team Wendy

Wednesday, April 29th, 2015

Team Wendy configured this custom solution of their new EXFIL SAR Helmet for a national search amd rescue organization.

In addition to the Red color, they’ve applied SOLAS markings and 1913 rail sections. But the real piece that sets this solution apart from their standard models is the receiver for the ESS goggles seen below.
