Beretta Holding Group Companies Temporarily Halt Participation In Large-Scale Indoor Events

Due to the sudden and dramatic increase of COVID-19 infections during the past 2 weeks, including many breakthrough cases, the Beretta Holding Group companies in the U.S.A. (Beretta U.S.A., Benelli U.S.A, Burris, and Steiner eOptics) have announced the immediate suspension of participation of their employees in large-scale indoor gatherings. This decision was made because of near-term staffing challenges and concerns about the ability to prevent contagion in enclosed, crowded spaces. 

Regrettably, this means that the companies will not be present in their booths this month at the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) SHOT Show in Las Vegas. The Beretta Holding Group companies in the U.S.A. confirm their full and continued support for NSSF’s mission and have already pledged their exhibit renewal for the 2023 SHOT Show. 

The Companies will continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation as it evolves and will reassess their decision as appropriate later in the year.

PFN Group Announces NP Aerospace Divestment

Saskatchewan Canada based PFN Group of Companies has divested its holdings in NP Aerospace.

The company has sold its shares in 11046896 Canada Inc to NP Aerospace CEO and shareholder, James Kempston for an undisclosed sum.

PFN revealed plans to divest NP Aerospace in July 2020 as part of its strategy to focus on military and defense closer to home with its 100% owned company Pro Metal Industries. The transaction results in Kempston increasing ownership from 50% to 100% of the business.

Steve Fisher Joins Sons of Liberty Gun Works’ Pro Staff

Steve Fisher has been the owner/lead instructor for Sentinel Concepts since 2014. He also is a contract instructor for numerous ranges in Michigan and has been a staff instructor for EAG Tactical.

Steve’s career as a trainer started in the 90’s, first at NTFT and then later as the owner/ lead trainer of MDFI, both Michigan-based companies, and served as one of the primary Instructors for Magpul Dynamics. He was responsible for the development of new programs and tactics for several local police departments and new training curriculum’s based on low light, home defense and the use of the carbine, handgun, and shotgun in various roles.

Steve has been featured in SWAT Magazine, Recoil Magazine, Breach-Bang-Clear, and has written for both SWAT Magazine and Surefire Combat Tactics. He is a product designer for Tuff Products and provides product development insight for companies like Nighthawk Customs, Midwest Industries, FN, Trijicon, Agency Arms, Surefire and Robar to name a few.

Over the years Steve has participated in numerous training programs from notable instructors in the industry as well as many local level schools and stays active on both sides of the training industry. He is also an avid hunter and has a history in the outdoor/hunting television community as both a hunter and cameraman.

Bill Wilson Announces Purchase of Lehigh Defense

Bill Wilson is proud to announce the acquisition of Pennsylvania-based ammunition and bullet manufacturer Lehigh Defense.

Lehigh Defense will join other Wilson-owned companies Chip McCormick Custom, Circle WC Ranch, Khumba Bush Camp, Scattergun Technologies, Wilson Custom Ammunition and Wilson Combat to expand the group’s presence in the firearms and hunting marketplace.

Lehigh Design, originally founded by Dave Fricke later expanded to Lehigh Defense with the addition of Pete Vogel and Mike Cyrus and has been designing and manufacturing solid brass and copper bullets using the latest technology since 2004. In 2009, Lehigh started working with Black Hills Ammunition in developing unique military projectile designs. Years of collaboration later, the Fluid Transfer Monolithic design culminated with the release of the Black Hills Honey Badger line. Another patented design is the Maximum Expansion 300 Blackout subsonic bullet used by US and many NATO special operations groups throughout the world with over 7 million sold to date.

Lehigh Defense currently operates two manufacturing plants, one in Pennsylvania and one in South Dakota. Once a new purpose-built facility in northeast Texas is completed in Q3 2022 some operations will begin the move to their new home in Texas. There are immediate plans to increase production and some products are already in production in Arkansas at the Wilson Combat facility to rapidly increase production capacity. Lehigh will have a substantial increase in manufacturing capacity and a state of the art testing facility once the Texas plant is operational. Our goal is to meet product demand, add exciting new products and build brand awareness.

Federal Ammunition Joins Rare Companies by Turning 100 Years Old in 2022

Clarus Acquires MAXTRAX, the Market Leader in Vehicle Recovery and Extraction Track for the Overland and Off-Road Market

Acquisition Accelerates Clarus’ Vision to Scale its Overlanding and Vehicle Accessory Category

2021 … Another Crazy Year

          MIAMI, OKLA. – After the inaugural pandemic year of 2020, who would have imagined 2021 could have gotten any crazier? But it did. A riot on the nation’s capital. A gas pipeline held for ransom. Tornados that flattened towns in Kentucky and hurricanes that traveled from the Gulf Coast all the way up to New England. And then, ending where we started … with another version of COVID stressing out and sickening people around the world.

           Through all the ups and downs of 2021, including massive supply and demand challenges, companies have pulled together to keep products flowing and their people employed.

          In response to severe weather events and natural disasters, the portable fuel containers industry worked hard to meet staggering demand this year for 21 million portable fuel containers.

        “In today’s marketplace, where there are extreme situational challenges, along with staffing and COVID-19 health concerns, it’s very significant that our company was able to successfully unite to fulfill accelerated fuel container demands in 2021,” says Daniel Marshall, vice president of marketing and business development with Scepter.

Demanding Year Right from the Start

           Marshall relates that product demand started early in 2021 when January ice storms and the 2021 Ground Hog Day Nor’easter impacted the East Coast. Immediately following those events, there were power outages in February in Texas due to a deep freeze. Every situation had consumers scrambling for fuel containers to operate generators and equipment. 

           “While we can sometimes foresee bad weather circumstances and ramp up in advance for them, there was no way to plan for the Colonial Pipeline ransomware attack in May,” says Marshall. “Gasoline shortages were immediate, which meant people were reacting by wanting to fill fuel containers. This was happening right about the time of National Hurricane Preparedness Week in May when people are starting to think about hurricane prep. The amount of fuel containers required during this month skyrocketed.”

Second Half of Year Push

           As the summer of 2021 progressed, so did the 2021 Hurricane Season. In late August/early September, Category 4 Hurricane Ida brought strong weather from the Gulf Coast all the way up throughout the Northeast. In total, there were 21 named storms in the season, with seven hurricanes and four major hurricanes — all good reasons for people to prepare their homes and businesses to handle wicked weather. 

            “While many people always keep fuel and water containers filled and ready to go, there are greater numbers of people who purchase containers reactively, based on severe weather forecasts,” says Marshall. “They may never have been in a location impacted by bad weather before. Then along comes a mega storm and they need to prepare. That’s when people seek out reliable containers. And, that’s why our team works so hard to create those containers and keep the inventory available.”

          The various “unplanned events” impacting container sales during 2021 occurred over just 25 to 30 specific days — or seven percent of the year. According to industry reports, on those specific days, consumer purchasing hit its peak for fuel container sales. Almost five million fuel containers were sold during a total of those days online and in stores such as Walmart®, Lowe’s® and The Home Depot®. When totaled, that’s close to 25 percent of all the containers purchased by consumers from all manufacturers for the entire year. On those extreme, high sales days, an average of 200,000 fuel containers were purchased every day. That’s enough to fill between 75 and 100 semi truckloads each day!

A Year for the Books

           “This is the second record year of high demand for fuel containers for our industry,” says Marshall. “It’s actually a bit surprising. We see many items in the world transitioning to battery operation — like lawn equipment, generators and even some cars. That would make you think that demand for fuel containers would be down. However, it’s just the opposite. Consumers are purchasing more gas, diesel and kerosene containers than ever before.

            “We’re proud that Scepter sold more fuel containers than any other company in 2021. And, we are exceptionally proud that we accomplished this milestone without any business interruptions, and while doing this under continued COVID restrictions.”
