Former Bushmaster Owner Launches Windham Weaponry

Monday, June 20th, 2011

With the move of the Bushmaster Firearms International LLC production line last December to Remington’s facility in Ilion, New York, the Bushmaster you know today exists in name only. When Remington moved the plant they also laid off all of the Bushmaster workers and hired new employees at the new location. Granted, you can argue the quality of Bushie guns but any institutional knowledge that the brand possessed was lost with that move.

Now, former Bushmaster owner Richard Dyke, along with some investors have launched Windham Weaponry. The new company is setting up shop in the old Bushmaster manufacturing facility in Windham, Maine and hired back about half of Bushmaster’s former employees. They will begin production in July with initial deliveries to commence in September. As Bushmaster specialized in AR style weapons, we anticipate that Windham will as well.

Ironically, the Bushmaster website still claims they are located in Windham, Maine. Not sure if that’s an indication of how little Freedom Group thinks of the brand or if they are purposefully misleading the public.

TCI Expanding West Coast Operations

Monday, June 13th, 2011

It’s so long Antioch and hello Brentwood for Tactical Command Industries. Effective 27 June, 2011, they are moving from their original business unit opened in 1996 in Antioch, California by Don Medine, a service disabled Police Sergeant and Tactical Team Leader to a new facility at 2150 Elkins Way, Brentwood, California 94513. It will give the company much needed space to expand customer service, production and R&D functions.

According to the company president, “The purchase and acquisition of the new facility for the company in Brentwood, California is exciting, but also delineates the end of part of the company’s history. We started the company in Antioch and we have operated a business unit there since the beginning.” Mr. Medine continued, “Part of my law enforcement career was with the police department in Brentwood, so it seemed quite natural for the company to move there.”

Congrats!

Team SureFire Sweeps MGM Ironman 3-Gun

Friday, June 10th, 2011

SureFire has announced that Team SureFire kicked ass at the 2011 MGM Ironman 3-Gun competition (okay, they didn’t use those exact words) with women’s captain, Maggie Reese, men’s captain Barry Dueck and co-captain Mike Voigt, all repeating as champions in their divisions.

“Last year’s championship was a blur because we shot over three long days in rough conditions,” said Reese, who just started shooting competitively four years ago. “This year I was able to focus and just get the job done while enjoying the match along the way. It was fantastic!”

Team SureFire, also features 10-time multi-gun national champion and Open Division shooter, Michael Voigt, and the 3-Gun Nation tour points leader and team captain, Barry Dueck, who already has two tour wins this year in the Heavy Optics Division. Dueck and Voigt were also teammates on USA’s 2008 IPSC World Shoot team where they took top honors in the Modified Division.

SureFire also sponsors other shooters around the country like world record pistol shooter, Max Michel, who recently won the Double Tap Championship. Other 3-gun shooters who proudly wear the SureFire logos on their jersey are Team FNH and Taran Butler (5-time National Champion).

Congrats!
