The World Is Changing… EUROSATORY Reinvents Itself and Introduces Its New Brand Identity

Saturday, October 8th, 2022

PARIS, 6 OCTOBER 2022. Stretching back 55 years, the exhibition EUROSATORY ushers in a new phase in its history and reveals its new brand identity: a new logo, new colours, a new signature and a new key visual.

“Our decade is characterised by an acceleration in history, what with the global pandemic, the return of major inter-State conflicts, the re-examination of globalization, and the imperative need to engage in the ecological transition in order to address major environmental challenges. In this world order in a state of upheaval, Governments have a duty to strengthen their capabilities to deal with growing threats (humanitarian and environmental disasters resulting from health, natural or industrial hazards, violence within societies, terrorism, new paradigms of armed conflict, cyber-attacks). The world is changing, EUROSATORY must reinvent itself,” explains General Charles Beaudouin (retd), Exhibition Director of EUROSATORY.

“We wished to reflect these transformations in our brand identity, built around the four strategic pillars that constitute EUROSATORY’s strengths: an international show, and a true showcase for technology, combining business and insight,” adds Maud Carcy Bessette, Communications Director.

With this revised identity, EUROSATORY proposes a forward-looking vision and a new brand narrative around the signature “Protect your future”. The aim is to accomplish the show’s ambition to address current and future challenges:

“Invent the responsible Defence and Security of tomorrow’s world.”

General Charles Beaudouin (retd) continues: “This brand identity is fully in line with the geopolitical swing that we are experiencing. It establishes our position as a global leader and our propensity to present in an exhaustive, tangible and innovative way the solutions, services and expertise to tackle all types of crises, from high-intensity conflicts to the humanitarian and environmental disasters specific to our century.”

He adds: “This approach illustrates the strategic transformation of EUROSATORY, both internally with the buy-in of our teams, and externally to expand our expertise in the Defence and Security fields (in their widest sense); to harness our knowledge of diplomatic and ministerial circles, all in the aim of supporting our clients in their international development.

Today, the EUROSATORY brand more strongly asserts its mission: to enable Governments, supranational organisations, NGOs and businesses to anticipate and reinvent the way they deal with new and increasingly frequent crises that they face owing to both international tensions and global warming.

In this respect, EUROSATORY’s signature, “Protect your future” is the expression of the mission statement of the global event for Defence and Security.

This visual identity reinvents the brand, with a purposefully streamlined logo in the form of a shield: the embodiment of defence and security. This shape bears the mark of a stylised Eiffel Tower in a nod to French excellence.

The creative concept of the 2024 key visual represents a land theatre incorporating the capabilities offered by the sea, air, space and cyber fields.

Its overall symbolism with a woman’s face turned towards the future embodying the notion of foresight, illustrates the show’s promise: “The guarantee of finding and discovering all the global expertise and emerging trends to address the challenges of today and tomorrow.”

The choice of a female face also celebrates the women and men dedicated to providing peace and security in the world.

Canada Selects SIG for New Pistol

Friday, October 7th, 2022

In what might be a new record, two different countries have awarded the same company a contract for their new service issue sidearm within a week of one another. That company is SIG SAUER and those countries are Canada and Australia.

The Canadian Department of National Defence has awarded a contract for the 9mm NATO C22 full frame modular pistol valued at $3.2 million (USD) and to M.D. Charlton Co. Ltd. of Victoria, B.C.

This contract is for an initial 7,000 SIG P320s and holsters to replace the aging Browning Hi-Powers currently in service. According to DND, additional options for up to 9,500 pistols will be available under the contract to cover the remaining requirements for the Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Air Force, Royal Canadian Navy and Military Police. Pistol delivery is anticipated to begin in mid-2023.

“The Government of Canada is committed to providing the Canadian Armed Forces with the equipment they need when they need it. Replacing the Browning 9mm with the C22 full frame modular pistol (Sig Sauer P320) will help ensure the continued operational readiness and effectiveness of all our members. We look forward to the delivery of these new pistols and holster systems in the coming year.”

-The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of National Defence

This brings a conclusion to a very long process to identify a new pistol for the Canadian Armed Forces which goes back over a decade. More recently, after identifying a requirement for a modular pistol, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal upheld a dispute filed by Rampart International on behalf of Glock which slowed the process. Apparently, any issues have been overcome, clearing the way for the competition to proceed.

“As a result of an open, fair and competitive procurement process, we are pleased to award this contract to M.D. Charlton Co. Ltd., a Canadian distributor of tactical equipment. This contract will provide our troops with modern, reliable pistols and holsters to carry out their work, while supporting economic opportunities for the Canadian defence industry.”

-The Honourable Helena Jaczek, Minister of Public Services and Procurement Canada

Canada joins the Australia, Denmark and the US in adopting the SIG SAUER P320 as their standard issue sidearm.

Land Forces 22 – Wraith Multi Spectral Combat Uniform

Thursday, October 6th, 2022

The Wraith Multi Spectral Combat Uniform was developed with the cooperation of Australian Defence Apparel (manufacturer), FibroTex Technologies (material provider) and Spearpoint (design) to create a uniquely Australian camouflage system to replace standard combat uniforms and introduce true Multi Spectral concealment to the individual Soldier.

Spearpoint has represented Israel’s FibroTex in Australia and New Zealand since 2019. FibroTex manufactures the US Army’s Ultra Lightweight Camouflage Net System (ULCANS) as well as the Marine Corps’ NOA personal modular camouflage system which can be seen on the mannequin on the right and on top of the Catoma Wolverine individual shelter.

The Wraith pictures below is worn in lieu of a combat uniform and in conjunction with base layers, generally FR. The material is breathable and offers multi spectral concealment. However, the Soldier can use vision augmentation system to see out of the suit, even when the face is covered. This point is critical as a great deal of thermal exchange takes place in the facial area, often leading to detection even when the rest of the body is well camouflaged.

Individual equipment is intended to be worn under this oversuit design. As you can see, they have integrated access to equipment.

The Wraith is reversible and the visual camouflage patterns can be specified by the user such as Woodland/Alpine or Desert/Urban.

Additionally, the team has developed an Australian version of the famed Israeli Mitznefet Multi Spectral Helmet Cover System called Mulgara Helmet Cover System (HCS), which uses the latest multispectral material, adds neck flaps, and breaks up the unique profile of the helmet.

While the Wraith system was designed with the Australian Digger in mind, it can be adopted by any friendly foreign military force. Spearpoint intend to set up a Sovereign manufacturing capability in Australia to meet Australian and regional requirements. This will provide Australia with the ability to further develop patterns, capabilities and systems specifically for the ADF requirements. This will include personal, small team, mobile, modular and static systems.
