Visit Brownell’s at IWA

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2016

IWA (the European equivalent of SHOT Show)  is right around the corner and  Iowa-based Brownell’s is going to be there.  They have greatly expanded their international presence, so make sure you check them out if you’re in Nuremburg.  This is a press release from last year that gives you the details about this expansion.

Brownells Expands International Presence

Brownells has been serving international customers for decades, but a new partnership will make buying from Brownells a much easier process for consumers in Europe. Working with local, in-country representatives, the following countries now have their very own translated versions of Brownells’ famous website:

• Finland www.brownells.fi
• France www.brownells.fr
• Germany www.brownells-deutschland.de
• Italy www.brownells.it
• Norway www.brownells.no
• Spain www.brownells.es
• Sweden www.brownells-sverige.se
• Switzerland www.brownells.ch
• UK www.brownells.co.uk

Via the websites, European consumer customers can now benefit from Brownells’ extensive product selection and industry-exclusive Forever Satisfaction Guarantee on websites in their native languages. Further, customers may receive phone support via the in-country partner.

To make shopping as easy as possible, Brownells and the in-country partner will handle all costs and concerns affiliated with international shipping. Item pricing on the partner websites includes international taxes and tariffs, applicable licensing fees and other associated landing costs.

Under the new arrangement, customers simply place an order and it arrives in seven to ten days.

“Shipping anything internationally can be a rigorous process, but when it deals with firearm parts, it can be even more difficult,” said Pete Brownell, CEO of Brownells. “That’s exactly why we’ve formed this partnership to make the international customer’s experience easier and more efficient.”

FirstSpear’s Viking Patrol Harness In The Wild

Thursday, February 18th, 2016

That’s Norway for those who wondered and the Viking Patrol Harness was developed specifically for Mountain and Cold Weather warfare. For instance, it’s in the ATACS ATX winter pattern. Additionally, it has shoulder and back straps that are longer than usual to accommodate cold weather clothing.

It features three fixed, full flapped magazine pockets capable of two 30 round 5.56 magazines along with a fixed radio pouch that holds radios of similar size to the AN/PRC-148 MBITR. Also, Modular 6/12 Panels on each side will accept FirstSpear’s complete line of FS 6/9 or 6/12 pockets as well as any older pockets with a PALS compatible attachment system. The harness also comes with the following 6/9 accessory pockets: Arctic Canteen and Cold Weather General Purpose with 2 External Pistol Magazine Pockets.

It’s MultiTarnDruck for the Bundeswehr

Sunday, February 14th, 2016

The German Army has announced two new camouflage patterns for limited use.  First, is the MultiTarnDruck which translates to Multi Camouflage Pattern.  It’s a transitional pattern and will most likely supplant the German military’s limited use of MultiCam.  Interestingly, the German Government has taken steps to protect the patterns in much the same manner as the USMC protects MARPAT.

Next up is SchneeTarmDruck or Snow Camo Pattern.  In this photo, the new pattern can be seen atop the current pattern.  These should start rolling into service once the German government provides industry with the specifications to print the patterns.

Misty Mountain Integrated Stealth Harness (ISH) Selected By Australian Defence Forces

Sunday, February 7th, 2016

belts

February 5, 2016 – North Carolina based small manufacturer Misty Mountain Threadworks, Inc. announced that it has entered into a partnership with Australian based military and tactical distributor Southern Cross Equipment PTY LTD of New South Wales, Australia to supply the Australian Department of Defence with Misty Mountain’s ISH harness.

Misty Mountain and Southern Cross have been working together for three years to develop the market for ISH and other Misty Mountain harnesses in Australia and New Zealand. Their first meeting was at the biannual Outdoor Retailer Trade Show in held in Salt Lake City, UT. Spencer McDonald of Southern Cross stopped at the Misty Mountain booth manned by Operations Manager Mike Lavarnway and President Goose Kearse. Spencer’s eye was caught by the Integrated Stealth Harness, a scalable personal protection system with belt, leg loops, and chest harness. ISH was designed and developed in conjunction with retired USAF PJ Ish Antonio and is the harness solution for USSOCOM’s TCCC CASEVAC Kit.

Spencer seeded key operators in the ADF with Misty Mountain harnesses and gear. He took in their feedback and helped Misty Mountain develop custom solutions as needed to best meet the Australian requirements. As a result of the Australian commandos’ evaluation of the ISH system they have selected the ISH Original Belt, Leg Loops, and Chest Harness for their personal protective harness. The ISH Sit Kit formed by the ISH Original Belt and Leg Loops and the ISH Chest harness all carry the UIAA Safety Label. For more information about ISH or any other of Misty Mountain’s climbing gear please visit www.mistymountain.com. Misty Mountain’s military and tactical gear is made in the USA and Berry Amendment Compliant. In Australia and New Zealand, Southern Cross is the exclusive distributor of Misty Mountain gear.
