OVI / HPG Under Pack Belt

Thursday, March 10th, 2016

The Under Belt is a collaboration between OV Innovations and Hill People Gear.  Like the name says, this buckle-less design is a low profile pant belt, worn under a pack hip belt but it would be great for use under war/duty belts as well.  It differs slightly from the standard OVI model in that it’s made from double layer 1.5″ 17337 webbing.

Offered in Black and Coyote Brown in three sizes. Make sure you check the site to get the right one.

Available from ovinnovations.com/products/ovi-hpg-up-belt or www.hillpeoplegear.com.

ABS1_L_9

Made in the USA.

What does that mean to you? To some manufacturers it means buying materials or extrusions overseas and finish machining parts in the US, or even having parts made overseas and assembling them in the US.

To ZeroBravo it means sourcing materials that are made in the US and then using those materials to make the best products money can buy! Only when a US made option is not available will we look elsewhere, as is the case with the Austrian made AustriAlpin buckles. All sewing and materials are Berry Compliant and the Dark Coyote Brown conforms to AR670-1.

This is the TriTac Plate Carrier with the TriMag ammo pouch attached.

The Plate Carrier is offered in Single and Multi curved versions to fit different types of plates but due to the way they cradle the plate with mesh and straps, they can accommodate a variety of cuts and manufacturers. The TriMag and MagPouch are the erector sets of magazine pouches. Made from Kydex they can be configured in several ways to carry different magazines. They can also be stacked, one atop another. The magazines are retained via bungee.

The magazine pouches can be attached directly to the Plate Carrier via a tab and slot system. Additionally, they can be configured for PALS compatibility.

To reconfigure the mag carrier for use with pistol magazines, you can insert a shim with two bolts.

  LIBERTY OR DEATH T-SHIRT

At the Virginia convention held May 1775, The Colony was divided into 16 districts and each district instructed to raise and discipline a battalion of men “to march at a minute’s notice.”

On July 17, 1775 a cadre of 350 men called the Culpeper Minute Men were organized under a large oak tree in “Clayton’s old field”

They adopted uniforms consisting of hunting shirts of strong, brown lines, dyed with an extract of the leaves of trees. On the breast of each shirt was worked in large white letters the words: “LIBERTY OR DEATH.”

Their flag had a rattlesnake with 13 rattles, coiled in the center, ready to strike. Underneath it were the words: “DON’T TREAD ON ME.” On either side were the words: “LIBERTY OR DEATH.” And at the top “THE CULPEPER MINUTE MEN.”

No sooner were they formed than the companies of Culpeper Minute Men were absorbed into regiments of the Continental Line, and by Act of Assembly in October 1776, they were dissolved and merged into the militia. Many went on to serve, and die in places like Valley Forge.

As with much of the art created in an era long before “cut-n-paste”, many versions exist. The snake and the text on the Magpul “Liberty or Death” T-shirt are inspired from some of the more rare versions of this original artwork.

Way Of The Gun Covert B.E.L.T.

Wednesday, February 24th, 2016

Former Green Beret and tactical firearms trainer Frank Proctor refined the design of the Covert B.E.L.T. (Bring Everything Light Tactical) over a period of three years. Now, it’s his EDC belt as well as his range and competition belt.

The sides of this 1.5″ wide belt incorporate a stiffener where you would wear an OWB holster or external mag pouches. However, there’s no stiffener at the rear, but rather a small velcro pouch located at the small of the back. One of my favorite features are the plastic D-rings used to secure the belt. They aren’t only low profile, but allow you to keep your belt on while going through metal detectors. Additionally, the Covert B.E.L.T. offers elastic loops for magazines, sewn directly to the belt. These elestic slots are lined so mags won’t fall out and there are two pistol mag pouches up front and a pistol and rifle mag pouch on both sides behind the hip making the belt ambidextrous.

The Covert B.E.L.T. is made in the USA and offered in several sizes but you need to read the fine print on the website to ascertain the correct size.
