5.11 Debuts “Call to Service” Podcast

Irvine, CA (September 17, 2020) – 5.11, Inc., the global innovator of purpose-built apparel, footwear and gear, has debuted a weekly podcast, “Call to Service” – Presented by 5.11. The mission of the podcast is to provide an inside look into the lives of public safety personnel and provide dialogue between professionals. Guests vary from an array of backgrounds including tactical operators, law enforcement, fire, emergency services, and active and veteran military personnel.

5.11 as a company was built on servicing the professional community through producing end-user-tested apparel and gear that meets the needs of life’s most demanding missions. Over the years, 5.11 has introduced several other initiatives to bridge the professional and civilian communities including programs like Quiet Warrior, Everyday Hero, and in-store ABR (Always Be Ready) Academies where 5.11 provides cost-free clinics for store patrons instructed by professionals in an effort to educate guests on areas of expertise such as trauma/first aid, fitness, and concealed carry.

“In trying to figure out a way to truly honor our first responders and frontline workers, we came to the conclusion as a team that telling their stories was the first step to doing that,” said 5.11’s Chief Marketing Officer, Debra Radcliff. “Our hope for “Call to Service” is that in learning about the professional community and what they endure on a daily basis.”

“Call to Service” has the opportunity to act as a platform to dive into current day trends from a larger collective of individuals,” said 5.11’s Director of Professional Marketing, Chris Skahill. “This process of sharing information between a strong mix of guests from a variety of assignments and backgrounds across regions will give visibility to different practices and comparisons allowing for opportunities for growth.”

“Call to Service” will be hosted by 5.11’s Director of Southwest Sales, Will Ayres. Ayres has been with 5.11 for 9 years. Working across the globe for 5.11 during his tenure, Ayres has spoken with countless public safety workers and understands the hardships these individuals face on a daily basis as well as the importance that dependable gear, like 5.11’s, carries for these men and women.

The first “Call to Service” podcast featured an interview with former US Navy SEAL and Tident Concepts, LLC President, Jeff Gonzalez, followed by ShivWorks founder and former law enforcement and SWAT officer, Craig Douglas. In the coming weeks, “Call to Service” will feature interviews with Mike Pannone, former operational member of U.S. Marine Reconnaissance, Army Special Forces (Green Beret) and 1st SFOD-D (Delta); Larry Zanoff, Israeli army combat veteran; a SWAT department from Southern California; Rick Hogg, 29-year US Army Special Operation Combat Veteran and owner of War HOGG Tactical; Ryan Starling, active San Bernardino County Firefighter and SWAT Engineer Paramedic.

“Call to Service” episodes will be available each Thursday, and can be found on a variety of platforms, including iTunes, Google, Spotify, Podcast Addict, Podchaser, Pocket Casts, Deezer, Castbox, Amazon and iHeart.

5.11 Partners with Offensive Marketing Group on RUSH – Alpha Team

Irvine, CA (August 19, 2020) – – 5.11, Inc., the global innovator of purpose-built apparel, footwear and gear, released a video collaboration this week in partnership with Offensive Marketing Group. The video, RUSH – Alpha Team is an action-packed, science fiction cinematic experience comprised of a joint effort with some of the most noteworthy brands within the tactical industry.

The premise of the video is the presence of hostile creatures beneath the Earth’s crust revealed after a series of earthquakes across the globe and the Special Forces teams engaged to eliminate the threat. Rush – Alpha Team is the video portrayal of the Alpha Team, dispatched to the North Atlantic ‘Hot-Zone’ to battle the first emergence of hostiles. This video highlights OPERATION RUSH.

OMG worked alongside 5.11 to carefully select key pieces of apparel and gear – including 5.11’s GEO7 Camo, RUSH100 Backpack and Field 2.0 Watch – that fit the film’s narrative and would also be mission-specific to the characters in the story.

It’s the longest-running “gun-related” podcast still publishing new episodes. It’s had well over 3 million downloads and maintains an unmatched, encyclopedic archive of material relevant to the responsible armed citizen. It is equally significant to military personnel, peace officers, and anyone interested in awareness and personal defense. It has featured guests the like of Ken Campbell, Rob Leatham, Dave “Boon” Benton, Byron Rogers, Kerry Davis, Steve Fisher, Varg Freeborn (now the co-host!), and many more.

You knew it as Gunfighter Cast. Now it is The Mag LifePodcast ? and the latest episode is one of the best yet.

The most recent installment, Episode 165, is about thinking beyond the 4 firearm safety rules. It’s about advanced safety, we mean safety in the context of fighting the gun.

Not just the 4 Rules of Gun Safety, but rather the 4 Rules of Gun Safety as taken to its most exigent extreme: the moment when deadly force is called for.

“That’s what separates the rockstars from the groupies,” says Host and Founder Daniel Shaw. “It’s weapon handling and weapon safety under extreme, life-threatening conditions.”

? Can you safely move through and around other people who are themselves moving unpredictably with your weapon out  ?  without sacrificing your lethality in relation to the threat?

? Are you confident you know when drawing your weapon is appropriate and when it might make the situation worse, even during an event that might make unholstering seem to be the obvious choice?

? Can you make confident, fluid transitions from one method of moving with the gun to another to mitigate safety problems in your fighting environment? Position Sul, temple index, high port, low ready…none of them are a one-size-fits-all technique.

? Can you balance what’s personally safe for you vs. what’s safer for those around you while maintaining effective lethality for your threat?

? Are you aware of your own skill deficits? Are you at least aware that you do have some?

The four rules of gun safety are far less likely to stand up to real-life use if there is no clear understanding of contextual relevance in the face of environmental constraints. The phrase “keep your muzzle pointed downrange” and “keep your weapon pointed in a safe direction at all times” are both good in principle, but they should actually be replaced with Keep your muzzle pointed in the relative safest direction for your situation.

AUSA – Medal of Honor Graphic Novel Series: Henry Johnson

On Tuesday, June 30, the Association of the United States Army is proud to announce the latest entry in the Medal of Honor graphic novel series: Medal of Honor: Henry Johnson.

Henry Johnson served on the Western Front of the First World War as member of the 369th Infantry Regiment, an African American unit that later became famous as the Harlem Hellfighters. While on sentry duty, Johnson fought off a German raiding party in hand-to-hand combat, despite being seriously injured. He was the first American to receive a Croix de Guerre with a golden palm, France’s highest award for bravery, and became a national hero back home.

The AUSA Book Program recognizes these remarkable acts of valor with Medal of Honor: Henry Johnson. This full-color digital graphic novel was created by a talented team of professionals:

The Association of the United States Army is a non-profit organization devoted to the US Army and Its Soldiers, and the book is being distributed free of charge as part of our educational mission. The new graphic novel is the first issue in the second volume of the Medal of Honor series, which launched October 2018 with Medal of Honor: Alvin York and continued with profiles of Roy Benavidez, Audie Murphy, and Sal Giunta. This year’s graphic novels, in addition to Henry Johnson, will highlight Sen. Daniel Inouye, who finished a World War II assault despite losing an arm; Dr. Mary Walker, a Civil War surgeon and the only woman to receive the Medal of Honor; and Cpl. Tibor Rubin, the Holocaust survivor who later fought in Korea.

Broken Arrow – Response to a Nuclear Weapons Accident
