Now Five Total Color Options to Match Your Mission or Style375FAF88-6241-4680-920E-4C8C00B837E7

CLEVELAND, OH (Sept. 14, 2017) – Cleveland-based Team Wendy® announced the release of three additional colors of its M-216 Ski Search and Rescue (SAR) helmet today. These three new color options – MultiCam® Alpine/Gray, MultiCam® Black/Gray and Red/Gray – bring the total number of available colors of the M-216 to five.

The helmet launched in Nov. 2017 with two colors: Black/Gray and White/Gray. Its hybrid shell design is two-tone; an ABS hard front shell provides reinforcement for mounted accessories while an in-mold polycarbonate rear shell reduces weight.

“The M-216 is the only alpine-rated helmet of its kind, providing the special operations community with a platform that can be scaled up or down to meet the mission requirements,” said Jose Rizo-Patron, CEO of Team Wendy. “In the helmet’s second season, we wanted to bring additional colors to the marketplace so that professionals and everyday skiers alike have options to suit their needs.”

Different from traditional ski helmets, the M-216 incorporates mounting capabilities not previously available to operators in any ski or snow rated helmet. Utilizing features originally developed for the military and tactical community, the helmet provides side accessory rails for mounting a variety of lights and cameras, and a glass-reinforced polycarbonate shroud for attaching headlamps and cameras. A machined aluminum Wilcox® shroud insert is available by request for mounting night vision and thermal optics devices. Every helmet includes a Princeton Tec® task light (choice of Switch-MPLS or Switch-Rail) that seamlessly integrates with the accessory rail. The helmet has also been optimized for comfort and stability featuring a Boa® Fit System for precise fit adjustment and single-handed quick release, and an under-the-chin retention system with a Fidlock® magnetic buckle for one-handed operation even while wearing gloves.

The protection offered by the M-216 Ski SAR helmet is highlighted by meeting ASTM F2040-11 for recreational snow sports and BS EN 1077:2007 Class B for alpine skiing and snowboarding.

Black/Gray, Red/Gray and White/Gray retail at $328.95 while MultiCam Alpine/Gray and MultiCam Black/Gray retail at $340.95. All five colors are available for sale on TeamWendy.com and through authorized Team Wendy distributors; and will be available on Amazon Prime in the coming weeks. The three new color options are available for pre-sale with fulfillment in October.

High Angle Solution – Brigantes Presents – Helix R3 Harness

Wednesday, August 29th, 2018

One of the key requirements for specialist troops is the ability to ascend and descend through a vertical aspect.  This could be in mountain terrain, urban environment, maritime or from an airframe.  This often means using several different rigs and harnesses.  Helix have developed the solution to them all, which is a scalable and flexible system specifically focused for the military user.

The Helix R3 is a modular tactical harness system based on a EN358 PPE certified Riggers Belt with the option of adding lightweight leg loops to create a full sit harness. The belt by itself is rated to hold 15kN (1.5 static tonnes) for a minimum of 3 minutes and the combination of the belt and leg loops meets EN12277 Type C which is the normal standard for climbing sit harnesses. The R3 Riggers belt uses a very slim 45mm design that fits through a trousers waist belt loops and can double as a duty belt. The belt uses a fast release buckle that can be undone or adjusted quickly. The harness system is available in Black, Coyote Brown and Khaki Green.

In 2016, TacMed created its training arm and rescue brand Rescue CraftTM. Rescue CraftTM team members have backgrounds in Special Operations, law enforcement, and fire rescue as they relate to rescue and vertical rope access.

The primary course that Rescue CraftTM teaches is the Operational Vertical Specialist (OVS). OVS is the overarching name of a variety of courses that teach the same principles to targeted audiences. For the California Association of Tactical Officers (CATO), it is a 3-day Tactical Rope Access Course for SWAT team members. For tactical medics, it is the 4-day Tactical Rescue Technician Course, which includes more medical capabilities. There are also courses geared for SOF climbing teams and USASOC medics. Rescue CraftTM has the ability to customize any training to an organization’s specifications. The end state certification is consistent with the relevant job performance requirements found within NFPA 1006 (2017) Rope Rescue Technician.

DDD15390-E81B-498E-A9C6-D8B8D1B299D0

The purpose of OVS is to provide special operations team members and medics a common baseline of rigging, rescue, and vertical access that is applicable to a full spectrum of variable environments (urban through mountain) and variable operational constraints.

79958719-206F-49B9-86DB-AC77D4A3F79E

The OVS technique and equipment selection takes into account that many end users are not full time “rope handlers,” where “technical rescue” may not be their primary, secondary, or even tertiary team function. But when it is needed, it is needed without second thought and must be executed innately in less than optimal circumstances. Difficulty in the execution of rescue should arise from the emergence of outlier tactical variables, not from the techniques and equipment utilized. It is for these reasons we deemphasize many hallmarks of traditional courses, such as memorizes numerous and complicated knots. We prefer to teach various wraps and hitches due to their inherent ease to recall, execute, and utilize under the stress of the operational rescue environment.

One of the primary requirements within the OVS curriculum is to de-mystify complicated rescue systems. Our technique selection is designed with redundant fail-safes, dynamic adaptation, and universal foundations that can be applied to multiple areas of operation. Specificity of techniques and gear is de-emphasized due to the dynamic nature of SOF personnel.

Most commercial and many military training and education programs exist for the purpose of encoding a specific response to a specific problem, which effectively teaches the student “what to think” instead of “how to think.” We believe that a program of instruction should always focus on encoding principles, requiring performance under unpredictable and varied conditions, resulting in giving the student operational skills that are the result of being shown “how to think” in an asset-depleted dynamic environment.

The world is dynamic and ever changing. Training for the modern domain of friction and violence must incorporate exercises that require participants to think, engage chaos, rapidly problem solve, and perform under varied conditions with varied assets.

Rescue CraftTM is available for unit level evaluation and training. Individuals seeking training should look at the below announcements. Contact for training opportunities will be Dana@tacmedsolutions.com and Ryan@tacmedsolutions.com.

High Angle Solutions – Brigantes Presents – Montane Prism Tactical Jacket

Wednesday, August 15th, 2018

Now is the time to think about the upcoming Autumn and the change in weather.  To help cope with this Montane have released the Prism Tactical Jacket.  This is an upgraded Prism jacket which takes into consideration the greater insulation needs of a military user.

The standard civilian Prism uses 40g/m2 Primaloft Silver Eco.  Due to the weather conditions and sleep deprivation that the military regularly encounter we have upgraded the jacket to have 100g/m2 Primaloft Gold Eco in the body and 80g/m2 in the arms.  This synthetic insulation provides the highest level of warmth available whilst still being able to work when wet.  The outer fabric provides an hard wearing and weather resistant surface that is ideal for the rigors encountered when operating in harsh environments.

The cut of the jacket is designed to enable active movement within a mountain setting and provides a 3 point helmet compatible hood adjustment with stiffened peak.  In addition there are two hand warmer pockets along with an internal pocket for securing key items.  The hem is adjustable and the cuffs are low profile.

Overall this is a great go to piece that is ideal in all environments.

Brigantes Presents – High Angle Solutions – Montane Alpine Stretch Jacket MultiCam

Wednesday, August 8th, 2018

As part of the Montane tactical mountain clothing project we have developed a light weight soft shell.  The Alpine Stretch Jacket is designed to provide protection from the elements whilst not interfering with any rope systems or harnesses.

The jacket has an athletic cut with drop tail to reduce drag and protect the lower back when bending over.  Despite the fit the stretch fabric allows excellent freedom of movement as well as wind and moisture protection.  The cuffs have a generous gorilla grip closure to allow for easy use even with gloves.  Long sleeves ensure good arm coverage when reaching and a raglan sleeve construction means that there are no seams to dig into your shoulders when carrying heavy loads.

The jacket is closed with a double zip and there are two large napoleon pockets.  The fully adjustable hood has a stiffened peak and is helmet compatible.  This follows common design features of UK garments which are made to cope with the intense weather conditions encountered in the British hills and mountains.

This is a ultra-focused product which is galaxies away from the standard issue jacket that we are all used to.  A must for all operators.
