The ROF SAR mount is designed as a drop-in upgrade for magnified scopes with an objective diameter of 1.3in or less. Available initially for 30mm scope tubes, the ROF SAR adds a mounting point for a Trijicon RMR® or Leupold Delta Point Pro® to provide a fast, close-range targeting option to your magnified scope. End users can easily position the reflex optic at 90º, 45º or any angle the user prefers. Additionally, when paired with the ROF Riser, released earlier this summer, extra height can be provided to clear a host scope’s turrets.

The ROF SAR is precision machined from 7075 aluminum and protected with Mil-Spec type III hardcoat anodizing. Weighing in at 36g, care was taken to minimize the added weight when mounted to your 30mm scope tube.

“Reptilia was founded with the purpose of developing product solutions for those who are put into harm’s way, to ensure our safety and freedom,” stated Eric Burt, Reptilia’s President and Head of Design. “Our ROF line of products was developed to fill a request we received for specific mounting solutions. We take great pride in being able to work closely with our end-users, to ensure we are developing solutions to address the limits that existed.”

Burt, one of the industry’s most respected and sought after Industrial Designers, founded Reptilia with the intent to address issues that were frequently overlooked in the firearms industry. Ranging from simple design tweaks to grander-scale innovations, Reptilia is the vehicle to bring ideas to fruition. Promising an insatiable need to innovate and bridge the gaps that challenge end-users. In a world that is always evolving, Reptilia strives to produce products and provides services that are unmatched in this industry.

The Multi Use Block

Monday, July 30th, 2018

It would seem that Outdoor Retailer is the last place I’d learn about a new optics mount. But when you realize it’s now held in Denver, which is just up the road from Fort Carson and it’s tenant, the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), it makes complete sense.

During a reception one evening, a couple of ADS employees told me about a new optics mount called the Multi Use Block. It is manufactured by a company founded by a team of Veteran and Active Duty Soldiers called appropriately enough, The MUB, LLC.

The device itself is multifaceted. First off, both Manfrotto and Arca Swiss attachments are machined into the base, to accommodate the direct attachment for either style of tripod.

Next, you’ll notice a large cavity down the middle of the MUB which facilitates bore sighting. Additionally, either the LaRue spotter Kit or Badger Ordnance SLICK mount will attach directly to the top of the MUB via a Picatinny mount. You’ll also notice a level built into the rear of the base.

What’s more, the MUB will work with a Hog Saddle or RRS Vyce-style gun clamp. The MUB was built tall enough to still work inside a Hog Saddle without the throw levers being hindered by the height of the walls on the Saddle.

PRS competitors have also used the MUB attached to the bottom of their rifle chassis handguard to gain additional purchase on various obstacles.

The MUB may be used with an accessory rail called the Wing which mounts in a perpendicular orientation, offering space for additional target acquisition systems.

MUB is also designed to be a completely tool-less device. The Picatinny rail locking bar can be adjusted without tools and the Wing has 2 x 1/4-20 thumb screws for a tool-less attachment of any sort.

The MUB weighs 14.4 oz with the Wing mounted. Made from 6061 Aluminum, the Wing itself weighs just 5 oz.

Finally, MUB is Made in America of 6061 die cast Aluminum, anodized in Gun Metal Black.

Hi-Lux Introduces the ART M1000-PRO Riflescope

Thursday, July 26th, 2018

1

As part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the Automatic Ranging Trajectory (ART) riflescope, Hi-Lux introduces the latest version of James Leatherwood’s innovative method of simplifying long-range shooting – the Hi-Lux ART M1000-PRO.

ART technology raises and lowers the rear of the scope similar to an open sight, allowing shooters to get first round hits of up to 1000 yards without complex distance estimation.

2

Specifically designed for hunters, the Hi-Lux ART M1000-PRO is a 2 to 10 power scope featuring the HR1 illuminated MOA reticle. The HR1 reticle is available in red or green illumination and the lowest three brightness settings are compatible for use with night vision optics.

3

Each hash mark on the vertical and horizontal scale indicates a MOA sub tension. A longer 2 MOA tick mark indicates multiples of 5 MOA on both the horizontal and vertical scale. The ends of the axes are indicated by a 4 MOA tick mark.

4

The ranging scale is used to frame and range known sized targets from 9” to 72” in length or height. Range estimation is accomplished by overlaying the framing mark onto the target, adjusting the magnification until the mark frames the dimension of all or part of the target. Adjusting the magnification also adjusts the trajectory and automatically compensates for the bullet drop.

5

The total adjustment range is 90 MOA windage and elevation in 1/4 MOA increments. Each turret can be re-indexed after zeroing.

The 30mm tube’s incredible light gathering ability provides enhanced sight picture resolution and clarity at dawn or dusk.

TNVC Introduces L-3 Thin-Filmed White Phosphor to Their Line of Popular TNV/PVS-14 Night Vision Monoculars

Wednesday, July 18th, 2018

Following the enormous popularity of TNVC’s Limited Edition July 4th TNV/PVS-14s and overwhelming customer demand for more, similar offerings, TNVC is proud to announce that we have added L-3 Thin-Filmed White Phosphor image intensifier tubes to our regular product line, and they are now available for sale as part of our popular TNV/PVS-14 line.

These high-performing Generation 3, Auto-Gated Night Vision Monoculars offer similar performance to our L-3 OMNI VIII Green Thin-Filmed units, and will meet or exceed current U.S. military OMNI VIII contract specs, but using the highly sought-after White Phosphor technology and image coloration.

With prices starting at $3,495.00, these units offer customers an intermediate option between our more traditional green units and our premium L-3 Unfilmed White Phosphor image intensifier tubes. While these Thin-Filmed White Phosphor tubes cannot match the performance of the Unfilmed White Phosphor units, and will have more scintillation in extremely dark conditions, like our Thin-Filmed green units, they nevertheless offer superb image quality and resolution. Moreover, many end-users report that White Phosphor image intensifier tubes produce an image that is perceived as brighter and having more contrast, with deeper shadows and more defined details, as well as being more pleasing to the eye and producing less eye-strain during prolonged use than green units.

Like all TNV/PVS-14 units, these units are “semi-custom” and built by hand to-order at TNVC’s California facility, and come with TNVC’s industry-leading 10 Year Warranty. While this adds some lead time to these units, it allows TNVC the ability to offer customers will a full menu of customizable options with our TNV/PVS-14, including tube type and accessory kits, as well as MIL-SPEC Black, Flat Dark Earth, and officially licensed Crye Multicamä.

In addition to the standard TNVC TM-14 Weapon Mount option, customers can also purchase the excellent Wilcox L4 G11 ARMY helmet mount at a special package price of $255 with the purchase of one of these L-3 Thin-Filmed White Phosphor units, providing a vast improvement over the decades-old Legacy USGI “Rhino” system.

These Thin-Filmed White Phosphor image intensifier tubes are currently only being offered as part of the TNV/PVS-14 product line. All of our other TNV dual tube Night Vision Goggle systems will continue to be offered with L-3 Thin-Filmed OMNI VIII green and L-3 Unfilmed White Phosphor image intensifier tubes.

Hi-Lux Celebrates 50 Years of the ART Rifle Scope

Tuesday, July 10th, 2018

The ART scope technology was born out of necessity in the early years of the Vietnam War. Enemy snipers were killing American servicemen, but the US Army was not adequately equipped to deal with the problem. The solution was to send newly trained snipers into battlefield service as soon as possible.

However, sniper training at that time was a lengthy process that required long hours on the range teaching recruits to estimate distance and to use the proper amount of “hold-over” (aiming high to compensate for bullet drop) in order to make successful first round hits.

F76B952F-64C0-48EC-821B-34DC74274847

In the late 1960s, Second Lieutenant James M. Leatherwood entered the Army, and brought his recently patented design for a ranging scope that would raise and lower the rear of the scope similar to an open sight.  Shortly after, the Army equipped their snipers with Leatherwood System scopes.  The use of the new scope system had dramatic effects.

D63E93E9-EC54-497C-9128-A288054498F1

Now it was possible to rapidly train snipers to get first round hits out to 900 meters without having to devote precious time on distance estimation or “hold-over.” American snipers were now dominating the field in Vietnam, and the ART scope system became a legend.

AFDCED48-BFC2-4F0F-A1B5-1E957B09669D

ART technology raises and lowers the rear of the scope similar to an open sight, allowing shooters to get first round hits of up to 1000 yards without complex distance estimation.

Over the past 50 years, the ART scope system has been steadily improved under the discerning control of James Leatherwood. An unrelenting insistence on durability and quality resulted in the acceptance of the ART II scope as a standard issue item by the US Army.

Hi-Lux has introduced new versions of the ART scope system designed for the hunter and long-range shooter. These new scopes, based on the technology pioneered James Leatherwood, bring a new dimension and approach to long range shooting.
