U.S. Small Business Administration Veterans’ Small Business Week Event

Wednesday, October 28th, 2015

SBA_AUSA_flyer_2015_final1

Vets Corps brings together the SBA and AUSA to host a Veterans Small Business Conference. Vets Corps founder and S.O.Tech President Jim Cragg saw an opportunity to give back to the Veteran community in organizing this event. Most of these events are bland discussions about how to seek funding and register for set asides. So I set out to bring the Association of the US Army to bring a military-speak aspect to the presentation of good information. Brigadier General (ret) Jim Combs will be the keynote speaker and panel speakers will cover everything from mentoring for small business start-ups to how Veteran businesses should engage aerospace and defense industry opportunities. Veterans are twice as likely as their civilian counterparts to start a small business. Vets Corps believes that we need to support our servicemen and women who wish to continue their tradition of leading by becoming business leaders.

The Veterans Small Business Conference will be held November 2 at the Bob Hope Patriotic Hall in Los Angeles, California. All Veterans are welcome to this free event, whether you are thinking about starting a business or looking to expand your existing business.

Glock - Young Marines

Young Marines with Director Lt. Col. Mike Kessler USMC (Ret) on left, accept check from GLOCK Vice President, Josh Dorsey

SMYRNA, Ga. – Oct. 26, 2015 GLOCK, Inc., donated $50,000 to the Young Marines at the GLOCK Professional headquarters in Smyrna on Friday. Nearly 30 Young Marines aged 11 to 18 from local Georgia chapters participated in the event.

GLOCK Vice President, Josh Dorsey addressed the Young Marines during the opening ceremony. “The Young Marines is an organization focused on developing character in the young men and women of our Nation,” said Dorsey. “The things that you learn here will serve you well, serve our corps well, and ultimately our Nation well. Ideals such as integrity, commitment, and honor are easy to talk about, but difficult to personify. You have to believe that you can make a difference.” Dorsey spent 20 years as a United States Marine.

Accepting the check for the Young Marines, was outgoing director, Lt. Col. Mike Kessler USMC (Ret). Kessler has been with the Young Marines for 16 years and was accompanied by Bill Davis, who will be taking over as the new Director as Kessler moves into a consulting role.

“We are forever grateful to GLOCK for their continued support of the Young Marines and for their sponsorship of our National Leadership Academy,” said Kessler. “GLOCK continues to be a strong partner in our goal to strengthen the lives of America’s youth.”

After the presentation, the Young Marines were given a GLOCK safety briefing and an exclusive range day. The safety briefing focused on the Four Basic Rules of Firearms Safety, proper grip techniques, and what to do if they ever found a firearm. During range time, the Young Marines and their parents received small group instruction from GLOCK Professional instructors.

October 2015/For immediate release

Nightforce NXS 2.5-10 x 24 limited release

The original member of the Nightforce NXS Compact riflescope family is making a limited debut for 2015.
In order to meet customer requests for the discontinued NXS 2.5-10 x 24 compact riflescope, Nightforce is manufacturing a limited run this fall. The NXS 2.5-10 x 24 is unique in that it has a straight body tube to the objective lens, which provides for a very compact package (9.9 inches in length).

For many years, the Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x family —proven in the hands of the U.S. military—has been renowned for performance far beyond its size. The NXS 2.5-10 x 24 was an original contract riflescope on the U.S. military Mark 12 5.56mm Special Purpose Rifle (SPR) program.

This limited run will see the NXS 2.5-10 x 24 receive modern enhancements over the original production models. Included will be an integrated Nightforce PTL (Power Throw Lever), allowing instant magnification changes even while wearing gloves. The elevation and windage adjustments are of the most current design, providing extremely positive click feel and easy to read numbers. Adjustment configurations are in .250 MOA (20 MOA per revolution) or .1 Mil-Radian (5 Mil-Radian per revolution) increments, with an exposed ZeroStop elevation and a capped windage adjustment as standard. Reticle choices include the MOAR and Mil-R.

As with all of the NXS 2.5-10x models, they prove that size is no substitute for quality, providing performance that exceeds most riflescopes of any size. In addition to being extremely popular on the various AR platforms, the low mounting profile, versatile magnification range and streamlined proportions also make it ideal for a mountain or safari rifle.

These limited run Nightforce NXS 2.5-10 x 24 models have an MSRP of $1,950. To acquire one of these limited availability riflescopes, please contact one of the four exclusive retailers below:

Pipe Hitters Union Announces 2016 Calendar Featuring World-Class Female Shooters, Veterans and Weapons Enthusiasts
Michelle Vicusi, Amanda Furrer and More Round Out the Calendar’s All-Star Lineup

04_APRIL

Texas-based lifestyle apparel company Pipe Hitters Union (PHU) may be known for its ultra-masculine aesthetic and roots in the Special Operations community, but it is decidedly not for men only. The outfitter proved as much when it announced the pre-release of its 2016 calendar, which features some of the military and weapons-enthusiast community’s most powerful and best-known female figures.

With backgrounds ranging from combat veterans to an Olympian shooter to survivalists and fitness pros, the women of the PHU 2016 calendar are not the typical “gun bunnies” usually seen modeling weapons and tactical gear. The lineup includes: Michelle Viscusi (U.S. Army vet, owner of Defensive Depot and professional shooter for GLOCK), Amanda Furrer (Olympian—USA Shooting Team), Jacqueline Carrizosa (U.S. Navy Vet, competitive shooter and Motocross racer), Brittany Paus (U.S. Air Force vet and Wishes for Warriors Ops Coordinator), Danielle Harris (avid shooter and owner of Dragon Fire Armory), Giselle Falla (owner of Redback One, fitness professional and Labrada Nutrition spokesmodel), Tawny Lynn (avid shooter and survivalist), Alex Rogers (competitive shooter and fitness professional), Breanne Ryan (avid shooter and spokesmodel), Leah Hill (U.S. Army combat vet and fitness professional), Jill Hensley (avid shooter and brand ambassador), and Rachel B (avid hunter and firearms enthusiast).

We’ve pulled out all the stops and flipped the script on what has come to be the standard tactical female calendar. The PHU 2016 calendar IS NOT chalked full of half-naked gun bunnies that look awkward and out of place who wouldn’t know the difference between a butt stock and muzzle device. In true Pipe Hitter style, we’ve teamed up with Straight 8 Photography to produce a calendar worthy of the Pipe Hitter name and have loaded it with strong, beautiful, badass women from across the industry, said PHU president Lincoln Osiris.

Fans can pre-order the calendar by visiting the PHU website, www.pipehittersunion.com.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Receives Safety Equipment Grant From The Spirit Of Blue Foundation

Friday, October 23rd, 2015

Monroe County Safety Grant Presentation - 10-21-15Sheriff Patrick O’Flynn (left) accepted the Safety Equipment Grant at a ceremony held at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters in Rochester, NY. Presenting the grant was Ryan T. Smith, Executive Director of the Spirit of Blue Foundation, and Abbey Celeste, Field Marketing Manager from Dunkin’ Brands.

ROCHESTER, NEW YORK – October 21, 2015 – The Spirit of Blue Foundation announced today that it has awarded a Safety Equipment Grant to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) for the purchase of 100 Individual Patrol Officer Trauma Kits (IPOK), valued at $4,497.00. The kits will allow deputies to provide immediate self-care if injured while on patrol or in training, in addition to providing care to other deputies or members of the general public who are injured and in need of immediate medical attention. The IPOK’s, manufactured by North American Rescue, feature their C-A-T Tourniquet, Z-Fold Gauze, 4-inch emergency trauma dressing and a pair of sterile gloves, all inside of a vacuum-sealed pouch.

“I would like to thank the Spirit of Blue Foundation for their generous gift awarded to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office,” said Sheriff Patrick O’Flynn. “The Individual Patrol Officer Kits (IPOK) are a welcome addition to our patrol vehicles. This equipment will provide an extra margin of safety for staff and the public we serve, when addressing critical incidents.”

Funding for the grant was provided by a generous gift from The Dunkin’ Donuts & Baskin-Robbins Community Foundation (DDBRCF), a nonprofit organization of volunteer Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins franchisees and Dunkin’ Brands employees that ensure the basic needs of the community are being met in areas of hunger relief, children’s health and safety. In total the DDBRCF has enabled Spirit of Blue to make 17 Safety Equipment Grants throughout New England with a total value of more than $100,000 in 2015. Spirit of Blue also announced that donations from the community, pledged by texting “KIT” to 41444 and received by November 1st, would be used to purchase additional IPOK kits for the Sheriff’s Office.

“A tremendous leap forward has occurred in the area of tactical emergency medicine,” commented Ryan T. Smith, Executive Director of the Spirit of Blue Foundation. “With the right equipment, such as a tourniquet, and the right training on how to use it, those who are injured in the line of duty have a much higher survival rate than before. These kits can help stabilize a deputy with a severe extremity wound, for instance, long enough to get the proper medical attention to save their life.”

2015 statistics released by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund show that 102 law enforcement officers have already lost their lives this year, an increase of 17% from the same period in the prior year. Of those deaths, 32 were firearm-related, and an average of 56 firearm-related fatalities occur each year. The reality of these statistics, and the increasing number of underfunded law enforcement agencies across the country, fuel the Spirit of Blue safety grant initiative.

The Spirit of Blue Foundation actively encourages the public at large to honor and appreciate law enforcement officers who serve to protect our communities. By supporting the Spirit of Blue Foundation, the public can make an impact in the lives of law enforcement officers every day. Crimson Trace LG-401 Lasergrips Chainmail

(Wilsonville, OR) — It’s an annual fall occurrence—nights are growing longer—and those periods will seem much longer beginning on November 1 when Daylight Saving Time ends. Most folks don’t enjoy darkness. Criminal elements, however, like the darkness so they can surprise—or get the jump on—victims. Crimson Trace urges gun and home owners to make plans now—and prepare for the darkness. The company offers numerous product lines to help ensure being better prepared.

First, most Crimson Trace products incorporate the company’s patented Instinctive Activation where holding a firearm naturally permits instant operation. There’s no fumbling around in the dark for switches when a second means life –or death. Plus, nearly all Crimson Trace products have master on and off switches so the laser can be turned off to save battery if the owner wishes. Finding the perfect holster for a firearm equipped with a Crimson Trace laser sight has never been easier, thanks to the 2,000-plus holsters featured on www.holsterresourceguide.com.

While Crimson Trace now offers more than two dozen laser sights with green diodes, it’s a fact that red laser sights continue to rule the darkness. Looking for a reason to buy a red laser sight for a firearm? There are many reasons.

Red laser sights are normally more affordable and are available to fit more firearm models (Crimson Trace offers nearly 200 red laser sight products). Thanks to action on television shows and in the movies, criminals know a red laser means the one holding the firearm has taken an additional step to be prepared against threats. There are numerous police documents and homeowner statements that indicate the presence of a red laser sight mounted on a firearm defused a tense or deadly situation.
