Rheinmetall and Helsing – Partners for the Next Generation of Armed Forces

Friday, September 16th, 2022

Rheinmetall, a longstanding, tried-and-tested partner of digitized armed forces around the world, and Helsing, the leading European provider of software and AI for defence systems, have announced a strategic partnership to transform land defence capabilities.

Through the joint development of software-based defence systems and retrofitting of existing platforms, this partnership will provide the armed forces with advanced and future-proof capabilities, enabling them to meet current and future challenges.

The unprovoked attack on Ukraine has forced Europe into a new era of land-based warfare. With the return of peer-to-peer conflicts and the emergence of novel, digital capabilities on the battlefield Europe must modernise its armies at speed. One of the key lessons of the Russo-Ukrainian War is that digitization and AI-supported mission systems can give armies a meaningful edge on the battlefield. They are destined to play a key role in defensive operations.

The Rheinmetall/Helsing partnership combines world-leading, battle-tested components, platforms, systems and software with modern, military-grade AI capabilities in order to deter and, if necessary, successfully take on an adversary. By investing in technology development upfront and delivering new products at speed, this partnership will provide the armed forces with fast access to the latest technological innovations.

“Rheinmetall has been supplying advanced networked products, systems, software and technologies in the defence and security realm for many decades, for which we are very grateful. Our partnership with Helsing will further augment our capabilities in the field of artificial intelligence, enabling us to equip our products with the latest technologies faster than ever. This lets us modernize legacy platforms and systems, providing our customers with new, world-leading capabilities”, states Christoph Müller, CEO of Rheinmetall Electronic Solutions.

Dr Gundbert Scherf, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Helsing adds: “Helsing is a new type of defence company, focused purely on software and AI, funding our own product development. We are therefore delighted to partner with Rheinmetall and combine our advanced AI capabilities with their world-leading land platforms. Recent geopolitical events have shown that democracies need to be able to protect and deter. But democracies also need to out-innovate and out-pace autocratic regimes. We believe this partnership has the potential to do that, equipping land forces for the future at pace.”

HENSOLDT Showcases its Land Solutions at DVD 2022

Friday, September 16th, 2022

Enfield, 16 September 2022 – Sensor solutions specialist HENSOLDT will be showcasing its broad portfolio, which includes solutions for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations, and sensors to improve safety and operational effectiveness. Visit HENSOLDT’s Stand No. SP-16 at DVD 21-22 September, for more information on its latest technology offerings in Radar, Optronics, self-protection and C2 solutions for defence and security applications.

HENSOLDT will present advanced solutions for the armoured vehicle sector, such as MUSS – Multi-functional Self-protection System and SETAS – See Through Armour System.

SETAS is a key element of HENSOLDT’s land portfolio and is a high performance Local Situational Awareness System (LSAS) for armoured vehicles, such as armoured personnel carriers, reconnaissance vehicles, engineering support vehicles and main battle tanks. The system is designed to provide all the crew with a real time panoramic view of what is outside the vehicle. In addition to the system’s 360° coverage in azimuth, a high vertical field of view provides awareness of potential threats from above, such as those encountered when operating in urban environments. The system supports detection and identification of threats such as snipers or RPGs, so that when soldiers have to disembark, they know exactly what awaits them outside, which is extremely advantageous when operating in a contested environment.

HENSOLDT will also present its TRML-4D air defence and weapon location radar and its Twinvis passive radar, as well as its portable battlefield solutions SPEXER 360 and 600 radars, all of which are designed to provide excellent performance in all weather conditions.

A selection of boresights, weapon sights and other high-performance optics will also be showcased.

HENSOLDT’s CxEye Command and Control (C2) Software will be featured as well. This modular system combines and integrates numerous sensors (radar, electro-optics, direction finders) and target neutralization effectors such as jammers and drone catchers.

Rohan Dearlove, Business Development Director, said :

“HENSOLDT exhibited at DVD 2018 and now that COVID has subsided, we are delighted to be back once more to participate in this prestigious event. Our UK footprint has expanded through the intervening years through investment in our UK facilities and SQEP, and we relish the opportunity to showcase best-in-class technologies relevant to the British Army’s current requirements and future programmes.”

New Rifle Sling Offers Exceptional Strength, Low Profile Design

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – September 14, 2022 – Butler Creek, maker of smart, field-proven hunting and shooting accessories, announces that the new Featherlight Minimalist Sling is available at retail just in time for this year’s hunting season. The new rifle sling is designed for backcountry hunters needing a simple, dependable sling that doesn’t interfere with their backpack and gear, all while maintaining maximum strength and durability.

While other, bulky rifle slings can get caught up in your backpack straps, the Minimalist Sling has a low-profile design that forms to your shoulder and provides a non-slip grip. When not in use, the extremely compact sling can be rolled up into the size of a baseball and stuffed in a pocket.

“Just as its name implies, the new Minimalist sling offers hunters a functional, modest design that offers all the features you need without extra weight or bulk”, said Monte Koenigs, product manager for Butler Creek. “The new sling expands our popular line of Featherlight models, which includes several of the lightest and strongest slings in the industry.”

Weighing in at only three ounces (including the steel swivels), the Minimalist Sling’s 0.04″ thick hyper-lite material boasts extreme tensile strength at more than 3,000 pounds per square inch. It can also handle extreme temperatures ranging from -22° F to 248° F, so hunters will never have to wonder if it can stand up to the harshest conditions.

The Featherlight Minimalist Sling is available in four colors: black, black and tan, black and orange, and gray with Prym1® camo.

Blackhawk Surpasses 250 Handgun Fits for Omnivore Holster

New Fits Cement the Omnivore as One of the Industry’s Most Versatile Holsters

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – September 14, 2022 – Blackhawk®, a leader in law enforcement and military equipment for over 20 years, has released 24 new fits for the Omnivore™ Multi-Fit Holster, bringing the total number of compatible firearms past 250 and cementing it as one of the more versatile OWB holsters on the market.

New fits available in the Blackhawk Omnivore include options for the Gen5 Glock® 17/19/22/23, Ruger® Security-9®, Smith & Wesson® M&P® M2.0™ 10mm, SIG P320®, Springfield XD® 9mm and XD-M® Elite, plus several others.

The Omnivore manages its versatility by not directly attaching to the frame of the handgun. Instead, the holster attaches to the weapon mounted light (Surefire X300/X300U-A or Streamlight TLR 1&2). With non-light bearing firearms, owners can use the proprietary Rail Attachment Device (RAD) supplied with the holster.

This small polymer accessory mounts to any handgun with at least one slot of Picatinny rail along its dustcover. The thumb-driven active retention mechanism locks onto the Omnivore’s proprietary RAD, not the frame of the handgun. By utilizing the handgun’s accessory rail or mounted light, the injected molded holster is compatible with a wide variety of semi-auto handguns.

To learn more about the Blackhawk Omnivore, to see the complete list of fits, or to see the full lineup of Blackhawk holsters, head over to Blackhawk.com.
