IWA 19 – Winter Overboot by 5.45 Design

Friday, March 8th, 2019

5.45 Design is a Russian company specializing in soldier systems. Not only do they manufacture clothing, helmets and armor, they also make small arms components. Everything I looked at was made in Russia from brand name materials and not only exhibited high quality, but were also well thought out.

At IWA they concentrated on clothing and helmets, but I wanted to share something that isn’t readily available from other manufacturers; their winter overboot. Insulated with Primaloft, it will take a wearer in a standard boot down to -10 deg C.

The step-in design extends up to the knee.

It features two shock cords at the ankle and one at the top for fit adjustment.

A zipper at the rear makes donning and doffing a simple affair.

On the sole is non slip material.

INVISIO Awarded GSA Status and Contract in the US

Thursday, March 7th, 2019

INVISIO has been awarded GSA status and a Schedule 84 contract by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), the procurement arm of the federal government. The IDIQ contract allows federal, state and local government entities to quickly and efficiently purchase INVISIO equipment at pre-negotiated terms and conditions.
The contract was effective starting January 25, 2019 and the GSA contract number is 47QSWA19D0031. It is valid for 5 years with potential of three five-year options to follow.
The GSA Multiple Award Schedule 84 is the culmination of a rigorous solicitation process in which the GSA carefully evaluates companies to determine their capability for providing products to the government. The assessment analyzes a variety of a corporation’s capabilities, including organizational structure, performance history, customer satisfaction, and other source selection criteria.
In awarding INVISIO a GSA Schedule 84 contract, the US federal government has determined that the company is recognized as a preferred vendor and is fully authorized to conduct business directly with government agencies.
“We are very pleased to have successfully negotiated an agreement with GSA in the US. As a qualified GSA contract-holder we can now target our hearing protection and tactical communication products directly to all federal, state and local law enforcement agencies” said Ray Clarke, Head of INVISIO Communications Inc.  “We will be able to reach even more government organizations by marketing and selling our products though this GSA schedule. I believe this could be a game changer for us in the US market”.
The five-year IDIQ (Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity) contract, with potential of three five-year options to follow, was officially awarded on January 25 under GSA schedule 84, Total Solutions for Law Enforcement, Security, Fire, Rescue, Emergency/Disaster Response – 426 1G-Miscellaneous Non-Personal Law Enforcement Equipment.
“INVISIO Communication and hearing protection systems are world leading and ensures a good hearing protection while allowing the user to communicate in all environments with maintained situational awareness in extreme environments.
Since we opened our own company INVISIO Communications Inc in the US in early 2017, it has been one of our key priorities to have our own GSA schedule so that US government buyers can make purchases easily through our GSA contract.
I congratulate our US team with this great achievement” said Lars Højgård Hansen, CEO of INVISIO.

ASE UTRA: Data Sheets for the New DUAL Suppressors

Tuesday, March 5th, 2019

As promised last week, here are the datasheets and pictures for the new suppressor models which will be displayed at Enforce Tac and IWA.

You could say they feature a flow through design and they are the result of a long product development project and are the best models we have ever developed for assault rifles.

32869501-8DDB-48FF-972A-6C69265CC501
The DUAL556-BL model features minimal ( less than 10% ) addition in bolt carrier speed across different 5.56 weapon types and barrel lengths. The higher end of 20% is only see with extremely short barreled weapons such as the HK G36C with less than 9″ barrel. On this weapon the more traditional suppressor types have 40-50% increase. Data sheet is available at Ase Utra DUAL 556-BL suppressor.

The DUAL762-BL model features c. 5-20% increase across different barrel lenths and weapon types. Data sheet is available at Ase Utra DUAL762-BL suppressor.

Why do they not feature 0% addition on all weapons and barrel lengths? This would greatly compromise not only the sound suppression but also flash suppression on these compact suppressor models.

Due to the design they also feature reduced first round flash and virtual elimination of the muzzle flash on the following rounds.

They are manufactured from 300 series stainless steel and feature a very robust construction.

The DUAL556-BL can pass the U.S. SOCOM Suppressed Upper Receiver Group (SURG) tender stress test requirement with an eight 30 round magazine cycle with a specific rate of fire.

The suppressors feature our proven BoreLock mounting system, a simple but very secure mounting system that also allows easy suppressor removal after extended firing. The mounting system does not allow the fouling to enter beyond the tapered alignment surface.

UK Firm Supplies Slash Resistant Clothing To Protect Public Facing Professionals From Knives

Monday, March 4th, 2019

The company’s key objective is to protect police, prison and security officers, and to reduce the number of knife and workplace violence related injuries.

UK based PPSS Group has recently seen record sales for their SlashPRO® Slash Resistant Clothing brand, offering tested, certified and reliable levels of cut resistance.

Poverty and social exclusion, religious and political extremism, drugs, social media as well as serious mental illnesses have all been blamed for the global rise of knife crime.

The news of individuals grabbing a kitchen knife and causing serious harm and injury to others has become a rather normal daily occurrence today.

Knives have recently also become the weapon of choice for many so called “lone-wolf” attackers due to the low planning required to conduct a knife attack whether against an individual or mass group.

Homeland security agencies, such as police, prison, border control, immigration and customs units, as well as private security companies from around the world have now turned to the firm to purchase garments protecting their officers from such weapon.

SlashPRO® Slash Resistant Clothing is made from 100% Cut-Tex® PRO, a highly acclaimed, cut resistant fabric made in Great Britain. According to the manufacturer the fabric is comfortable to wear, skin friendly and Latex free.

The company’s CEO, Robert Kaiser said: “Slashing dangers are now relatively frequent for these workers and it is has become a realistic and daily occupational risk. The cutting of an artery or blood vessel can cause rapid blood loss, shock and even fatality, and it is our mission to protect professionals at risk, with a range of easy-to-wear, slash resistant clothing.”

“There are men and women out there who have made a professional choice in their lives to protect other human beings, facilities, venues, events and infrastructure from the bad guys”

“We at PPSS Group genuinely believe those men and women have the moral and legal right to be equipped appropriately, and slash resistant clothing is appropriate and ultimately can save valuable lives”.

SlashPRO® Slash Resistant Clothing can purchased directly through the company’s online shop: www.slash-pro.com
