RADA & Partners’ Mobile Drone Defeat System demonstrated at Counter UAS Exercise

July 16, 2018 Netanya, Israel, – RADA Electronic Industries Ltd. A leader in the development , production and sale of tactical land radar for force and border protection – announced that RADA together with its partners, Ascent Vision and Sierra Nevada Corporation, won a $200,000 prize at the SOFWERX ThunderDrone Rapid Prototyping Event (RPE) III demonstration, with its X-MADIS mobile drone defeat system.
RADA’s Multi-Mission Hemispheric Radar (MHR) is the primary detection and tracking sensor of X-MADIS (the eXpeditionary Mobile Aerial Defense Integrated System), tailored for Counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) missions. Combined with other state of the art systems (Electro-Optical/Infrared and electronic warfare equipment), the system is integrated into a commercial off-road vehicle. It can detect, locate, identify, track, exploit and defeat an enemy UAS on the move or while in a stationary position, protecting airports, no-fly zones and other high-value infrastructure.

X-MADIS excelled at every stage in the exercise, proving it could provide solutions for a broad range of threats. The award was presented late last month at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada.

Dov Sella, RADA’s CEO, commented, “We are very proud to be part of the industry team achieving this success for X-MADIS. The system is a derivate of a system deployed successfully with a Department of Defense customer. Therefore, it demonstrates that our technology is highly scalable, flexible and truly adaptable for multi-mission environments.”

The SOFWERX RPE demonstration events, also called Game of Drones, began in June 2017. More than 450 technological capabilities aimed to tackle sea, land, and air-based UAS, tactical swarms, payloads (kinetic/non-kinetic/sensors), and their associated data science applications. ThunderDrone RPE III was the culmination of the events, and provided a venue for systems of various technologies to be tested in a true field environment.

The exercise was formally evaluated by a government assessment team. SOFWERX is a Partnership Intermediary Agreement between Doolittle Institute and the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), created to investigate new technology in an effort to put the most advanced capabilities into our warfighters’ hands.

FN Announces Expansion Of FN 509 Series With Tactical Model

Thursday, July 19th, 2018

(McLean, VA – July 19, 2018) FN America, LLC announces today the expansion of the FN 509® Series of striker-fired pistols with the release of the FN 509 Tactical, an optics- and suppressor-ready 9mm pistol. The pistol features the company’s patent-pending Low-Profile Optics Mounting System™ that enables the platform to accept more than ten commercially-available miniature red dot (MRD) optics and remain adaptable to future optics releases with no requirement of direct milling of the slide.

“The FN 509 Tactical and the FN Low-Profile Optics Mounting System are another leap forward in the optics-ready pistol market,” said John Keppeler, vice president of sales and marketing for FN America, LLC. “FN set the trend for factory optics-ready pistols with the release of the FNP-45 Tactical nearly a decade ago and we’re set to do it again with this release. From barrel to base plate, the FN 509 Tactical really is the ultimate tactical pistol.”

The FN 509 Tactical, an extension of the FN 509 family, is based on FN’s submission pistol that the U.S. Army tested for its Modular Handgun Trials, but includes the significant improvements to the design that were implemented in the FN 509. Like the optics mounting system, FN’s team of engineers set out to develop the ultimate tactical pistol by addressing the market’s existing limitations.

As a result, the FN 509 Tactical features an FN-signature 4.5-inch, cold hammer-forged, stainless-steel barrel with target crown, ½” x 28 threads that accept the bulk of 9mm suppressors available and thread cap with integrated O-ring to prevent loosening during use. Lastly, the 24-round magazines, nearly identical in length to the pistol’s slide, maximize ammunition capacity without impacting carry convenience.

The optics mount accepts the majority of MRD’s on the market with no need to direct mill the slide, allowing for a low-profile mount and co-witness with the suppressor-height iron sights. The slide cap, for use when not shooting with an optic, has raised sight wings that protect iron sight alignment if the pistol is dropped or jostled, and provides a textured ramp for racking the slide against a belt loop, pant pocket or boot.

See the FN 509 Tactical at the company’s next stop on the FN Battle-Proven Tour at the Bojangles Southern 500 NASCAR Race in Darlington, South Carolina, Sept. 1-2, 2018. For more information about the FN 509 Tactical, please visit www.fnamerica.com.

5CC87E7B-2B46-41C5-93CD-BC70BB2A31F1

In the short time since the release of the original Generation 1 Mohawk Counterweight and Storage systems, the Mohawk has been a runaway hit with military, LE, and civilian night vision users alike. Rather than resting on our laurels however, we’ve continued to improve upon the original Mohawk design and listened to user feedback, and we are now proud to announce the launch of the Generation 2 Mohawk Counterweight/Storage system.

Designed by TNVC staff and incorporating operator feedback as well as our staff’s own battlefield experience, we designed the Mohawk Gen. 2 to be a highly functional, modular accessory for all modern warriors. It provides useful storage and retention of mission-essential gear and will attach to any currently-fielded ballistic or bump helmet with Velcro.

Manufactured in the U.S. by Spiritus Systems, the Gen. 2 Mohawk is 100% Berry compliant, and is now constructed out of a much lighter weight 500D Cordura Nylon without giving up any of the functionality or features of the 1000D Generation 1 design. The Gen. 2 Mohawk also feature fully color and pattern matched Velcro loop fastener, even in patterns such as Multicam Aridä, Multicam Blackä, and Multicam Tropicä to provide an uninterrupted surface pattern. We’ve also introduced the highly requested Ranger Green colorway to the Mohawk line, replacing the Olive Drab of the Gen. 1 design.

Like the Gen. 1 Mohawk, the Gen. 2 Mohawk comes in three models:

· Mohawk MK1—Counterweight pouch with four user-configurable lead weights to adjust the counterweight from 4 ounces to a full pound, as well as a removable battery storage tray, perfect for almost any NVG system from the AN/PVS-14 to dual-tube systems like the AN/PVS-15, TNV/Sentinel, DTNVG, and more

Mohawk MK3 Gen. 2

The Mohawk Gen. 2 offers all of the great features that made the original Mohawk a hit, including the vertically-oriented Mohawk strip, which is the centerpiece of the design, featuring a Velcro pile surface that accepts attachment of all currently issued / fielded signal strobe devices. The continuous pile strip allows for precise placement of the device on the rear or top of the helmet while providing enough room for attaching a blast sensor device. The adjustable shock cord net provides secondary retention for the devices while not limiting access to their controls. The shock cord net also provides excellent storage for a SOF-T tourniquet for those not using an IR strobe.

The Gen. 2 also features extended cable management loops for communications downleads, as well as a cord lock retainer to prevent the retention bungee from shifting or hanging loose when mounted. The Mohawk also features multiple loops for ready access to spare batteries, as well as secondary retention tie-down points for additional stability and security.

The Generation 2 Mohawks are on sale now at $79 for all versions.

We are also running a clearance sale on all remaining stocks of the Generation 1 Mohawk while supplies last, with MK1 Gen. 1s and MK2 Gen. 1s priced at $59, and $69 for the MK3 Gen. 1.
