Kestrel Weather & Environmental Meters Named Top Pick in Sniper Tech by FOX News

Tuesday, April 19th, 2016

Manufacturer chosen from among industry’s most innovative leaders

Boothwyn, PA – Nielsen-Kellerman (NK), creators and manufacturers of Kestrel Weather & Environmental Meters, have been named as a top pick in sniper tech by FOX News at the recent USASOC International Sniper Competition, held at Fort Bragg, NC, March 20-25th.

During the week, the world’s elite special operations forces converge at Ft. Bragg for specialized competitions hosted by the U.S. Army Special Operations Command. The competitions are designed to challenge the real-world skills of some of the best military and law enforcement snipers and assault teams from the United States and our allied partners.

Because cutting-edge technologies are an integral part of what helps the most elite snipers accomplish their job, the competition also allowed select companies to showcase their top product and technology offerings directly to the end-users. Companies showcasing everything from rifles to scopes, range finders and ballistics calculators were on hand to aid the shooters in their competition.

The Kestrel 5700 Elite Weather Meter with Applied Ballistics was among those products used and featured throughout the weeklong competition. This compact handheld device precisely measures wind and air density while employing the cutting edge Applied Ballistics® solver to provide shooters with targeting solutions for each situation. Shooters have the option to choose G1, G7 or custom drag models to best suit their needs.

The Kestrel Elite with LiNK offers wireless connectivity to Android and iOS smartphones using Bluetooth® low energy technology, allowing for app connectivity and easy configuration and backup. Additionally, the Kestrel Elite and Sportsman models both work seamlessly with the Bushnell CONX Range Finder, receiving range data at the push of a button and transmitting the holdover value.

Competitors could be seen using Kestrel Elite with Applied Ballistics units throughout the week. Attendees and competitors could also sample the units during the night demo, held the evening following the Vendor Day.

“It’s a tremendous honor to be named a top pick among some of the industry’s most pioneering companies,” stated Nielsen-Kellerman CEO, Alix James. “Each of these companies provides innovative solutions to the world’s elite warriors. At Nielsen-Kellerman we take great pride in supporting those who protect our freedoms, and also enjoy collaborating with other quality-focused manufacturers to create solutions that neither company could build alone.”

Garmin tactix Bravo

Thursday, February 25th, 2016

The Garmin tactix Bravo is first and foremost a watch, and a good looking one at that. But that’s not all that’s going on with the tactix. It’s a GPS-enabled multi-sport training watch that offers some great features for militray and LE users. For instance, it processes both US GPS and Russian GLONASS signals meaning you’ve got a better shot at knowing where you are in a GPS-denied environment. Additionally, the tactix offers apps such as Jumpmaster which makes data all the more usable. Also, GPS features like track-back allow you to find your way back to a point of origin and the GPS data is augmented by altimeter, barometer and compass features.

Here are a few highlights:

2-inch high-resolution, sunlight-readable Garmin Chroma Display with high-strength domed sapphire lens, capable of switching between 2 modes: day use and night vision goggle compatibility
Omni-directional stainless steel EXO antenna, with GPS/GLONASS satellite reception, has the ability to track in more challenging environments
All-black, rugged and durable design inspired by the requirements of tactical gear intended for use in the field
Black PVD-coated stainless steel buttons, knurled start/stop button, rear case plate and screws
High-sensitivity GPS/GLONASS satellite reception has the ability to track in more challenging environments than GPS alone
Dual-mode operation optimizes the sunlight-readable display for day use or night vision goggle compatibility

The tactix is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. It can last up to 20 hours on a single charge in GPS training mode, 50 hours in Ultra-Trac mode and six weeks in watch mode. It features a PVD coated Black case with nylon strap or silicone band. Finally, there are lots of apps available for the tactix, with more coming all of the time.

For my friends interested in purchasing Garmin products, I always recommend Strohman Enterprise. They’ll take great care of you, offering preferred pricing to Law Enforcement, Military, and Government Customers.

Crimson Trace Grows Green Laser Options

Friday, February 12th, 2016

(Wilsonville, OR)—Crimson Trace, the world’s leader in establishing laser sights as standard equipment on all concealed-carry and personal defense firearms, continues to expand its green laser sights category. In fact, the Wilsonville, Oregon based manufacturer now offers more green laser sights than all of its competitors—combined.

The recent release of Crimson Trace’s Lasergrips® LG-350G with the advanced ShockStop™—designed for Smith & Wesson’s J-frame revolvers—brought the number of Crimson Trace green laser sight products to more than two dozen. And more green laser sights will be released by the company in the months ahead to meet growing consumer demands and customer requests.

Crimson Trace’s new LiNQ®—the world’s first wireless laser and white light system—utilizes a green laser sight along with a bright 300-Lumen LED white light. This product is designed for use on AR/MSR rifles and long guns. Other green products to consider for long guns include the Rail Master Pro® (CMR-204) and Rail Master® (CMR-206). The Rail Master CMR-206 is a compact, lightweight and very bright green laser sight designed for attachment on Weaver and Picatinny rails on handguns and long guns. Yet another option that will provide a green laser sight, along with a white light, is the rugged MVF-515G.

Crimson Trace also recently released the Laserguard® LG-489G (green) that is designed to fit the poplar Smith &Wesson M&P Shield pistol. This product is now offered with a Blade-Tech holster at a savings to the customer. The LG-489G green laser is activated by Crimson Trace’s patented Instinctive Activation™ via a pressure touch pad located under the trigger guard.

Crimson Trace also offers the Laserguard® LG-469G—a green laser sight engineered for Springfield Armory’s XD-S pistol. Another green laser product, the Laserguard LG-443G, is created for a precision fit onto Glock’s popular Model 42/43 pistols. Both of those products are also available with Blade Tech holsters as a pre-assembled package from Crimson Trace

B.E. Meyers Awarded Sole Source Contract by USMC for Ocular Interruption System

Wednesday, February 10th, 2016

R3February 10, 2016 (Redmond, WA) – Marine Corps Systems Command has selected B.E. Meyers & Co. as their sole source for the Ocular Interruption Program. The GLARE® RECOIL employs a dazzling laser to hail and warn potential threats while implementing escalation of force procedures. Commanders have a single, non-lethal hail and warning capable device to use across the range of Marine Corp military operations.

The GLARE® RECOIL represents the culmination of a decade of technological development used to create the safest and most effective ocular interruption laser in the world. The GLARE® RECOIL features pioneering EyeSafe® technology with the latest advancements in automatic power control.

RecoilNoVPS

The GLARE® RECOIL uses a 250mW maximum output power source, while its safety control design establishes the laser safety classification as a 2M laser system by using a Laser Range Finder (LRF), Near Field Detector (NFD), and 3-axis Gyroscope. This approach to laser safety in an ocular interruption device is unique to the B.E. Meyers design. The green beam is always effectively regulated by SmartRange™ technology and eye safety is sustained through controlling the maximum permissible exposure (MPE) on target.

“We set out to develop a system to provide a distinct tactical advantage for today’s Marine.” stated B.E. Meyers President Matt Meyers. “The GLARE® RECOIL system does just that by offering a weapons-mounted or hand-held dazzling laser that can be employed during Escalation of Force (EoF) situations. Tactical decisions have strategic consequences, which is why integrating green laser hail and warning capability into both land and maritime based EOF measures is critical for safe, effective response at all ranges”.

R2

B.E. Meyers has made multiple successful deliveries to MARCORSYSCOM on an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with a total budget of $49MM. In September 2015, B.E. Meyers became the sole source awardee for MARCORSYSCOM’s Ocular Interruption Program, contract number M67854-14-D-1040.

SHOT Show – MOHOC

Wednesday, January 20th, 2016

DSC07215

It’s been a while since we last posted anything on the MOHOC Elite Ops Camera, and while nothing has changed with the camera itself, there are two new updates worth covering. First, it’ll be available for general purchase very soon; we were told approximately within a week after SHOT. Until now, sales have generally been restricted to Military and Law Enforcement. The second announcement is MOHOC is working on developing a line of accessories for the Elite Ops Camera.

DSC07221

This is the Flat Surface Mount. This mount not only accounts for the curvature of the MOHOC camera, providing a flat surface for the camera to sit on, but it also features a 1/4″ thread and two mounting sockets on the bottom.

DSC07222

This mount mates with any accessories which utilize a 1/4″ screw, such as the generic miniature tripod seen below:

DSC07223

MOHOC also developed a KeyMod compatible attachment system which mates with the mounting sockets on the flat mount, allowing for users to attach the Elite Ops Camera to their weapon.

DSC07217

MOHOC also developed this GoPro mount-compatible adapter, due to the wide availability GoPro accessories on the market, and their wide adoption.

DSC07219

What you see below is a Dog mount for the MOHOC, which is worn like a collar and positions the the camera right between the dog’s ears.

DSC07218

Below is a shoulder strap adapter, which attaches to a shoulder strap on a pack or armor carrier.

DSC07224

Finally, MOHOC has developed a nylon carrying case for the Elite Ops Camera.

DSC07225

Additionally, MOHOC has been working on an accessory door which features cut outs for the HDMI and USB ports inside the Elite Ops Camera.
