SHOT Show 20 – The Survival Striker from Winkler Knives

Tuesday, January 28th, 2020

I was sorry to hear that ABS Master Bladesmith Daniel Winkler faced a series of dire medical conditions last summer and fall. Fortunately, he has recovered and introduced The Survival Striker, available now off pre-order.

It’s a hollow handled knife, similar to the collaboration he did with LAW Tactical a few years back.

One of the cool things he did was show the stages of development from drawing to model, to prototype, to final product.

Winkler uses 80Crv2 steel in his designs.

SHOT Show 20 – Hazard 4

Monday, January 27th, 2020

I’ve always liked Hazard 4’s Poncho Villa and this year they’ve made it even better.

Poncho Villa
It features improved seam taping, a PALS compatible flap on the chest pocket and a snap in fleece liner. Offered in Coyote, OD Green, Royal Blue, Navy and Black.

Hazard 4 has also finalized their Hard-Point Gear Rails which can be attached to several of their packs. Offered in Orange, Coyote and Black, the rails are injection molded.

As you can see, they can be painted for individual taste and being M-LOK compatible, accept

Finally, they’ve got a new pack, the Drawbridge which sports a beavertail. The main compartment zipper goes around three sides and its S-shape allows for access even when carried on its side.

Offered in Black, Coyote and Greyman.

SHOT Show 20 – 1 Minute Out Mod 1 from C&G Holsters

Monday, January 27th, 2020

US Army SOF Veteran Jamie Caldwell teamed up with C&G Holsters to introduce the Mod 1 holster. Fits Gen 3, 4, 5 – 19X, 45 and 17.

It’s the first IWB hosted to incorporate a hinge between the holster and accessory. Others on the market either use a piece of material between the two which can move too much, or set a hard angle in the Kydex which won’t move at all. The idea here is that you can set your own angle for comfort and tighten the hinge into place so it won’t move on you.

Features:
-Medium sweat guard
-Tall sights standard
-Black, OD Green and Coyote Brown in color
-Red dot cut out (Trijicon SRO, Leupold DeltaPoint, Sig Romeo, etc.)
-Open Bottom (Threaded Barrels & Compensators)
-Custom Discreet Carry Concepts 1.75″ Belt clips

Although currently the Mod 1 includes a mag pouch, they’re introducing a handcuff carrier soon.

Last but not least, Jamie told us he is going to design a knife for production by Abraham & Moses Survival Equipment, a Geissele brand. The sheath will be by C&G Holsters.

SHOT Show 20 – Oakley Elite Assault Boot

Monday, January 27th, 2020

New for 2020 is the Elite Assault Boot from Oakley.

The AR 670-1 compliant boot features the Vibram Litebase Outsole along with a Vibram SPE Midsole, 8″ Cordura upper and their low profile Lace-Lock system which creates a locked-in fit.

The Elite Assault Boot is I’m told, the first in a complete refresh of their boot line with more models coming in the future.

SHOT Show 20 – A New 3-Day Assault Pack from Eagle Industries?

Monday, January 27th, 2020

On the wall of the Eagle Industries booth was this 3-Day Assault Pack which apparently is a prototype. As you can see, it integrates laser cut laminate which offers a low profile alternative to PALS webbing.

SHOT Show 20 – Reebok Strikepoint

Friday, January 24th, 2020

Coming this April from Reebok is the Strikepoint which promises to be the lightest Berry compliant boot on the market. What’s more, it’s also AR 670-1 compliant.

They worked with Vibram to get the weight down and left out the liners in the upper so it’s much more like a traditional jungle boot construction.

SHOT Show 20 – Grey Ghost Gear Introduces New Back Panels

Friday, January 24th, 2020

Grey Ghost Gear showed a full line of zip on back panels for armor vests.

They’ve even got an adapter for those vests without incorporated zippers.

The panels use the same zippers as the Crye systems so there’s some compatibility here in both directions.
